CJTF Mission

The Combined Joint Task Force deters and defeats SOUTHLAND aggression in VIRONIA starting NLT 170900JUN12 to maintain constitutional law and order in VIRONIA while maintaining regional stability and Baltic national borders.

Page 12: United States Estonia Latvia Lithuania France Canada U.K. MND OPORD BRIEFING Tallinn, Estonia 11 Jun 12 UNCLASSIFED

United States Estonia Latvia Lithuania FranceCanada U.K.

CJTF Commander’s Intent

ENDSTATE: SOUTHLAND is effectively contained within its present borders with warfare being replaced by diplomacy.

CJTF will attach VIRONIAN formations under OPCON from 14 JUN 2012 and initially conduct delaying and/or defensive operations. CJTF prepares for offensive operations to restore VIRONIAN sovereignty. CJTF foresees defensive operations transitioning to Offensive operations followed by Stability operations in southern VIRONIA.

MND SENTINEL MISSION

MND SENTINEL defends in sector NLT 170900 JUNE 2012 in order to defeat SOUTHLAND forces and maintain or restore the IBL. Be prepared to attack in zone to restore the IBL.

Page 14: United States Estonia Latvia Lithuania France Canada U.K. MND OPORD BRIEFING Tallinn, Estonia 11 Jun 12 UNCLASSIFED

MND SENTINEL Commander’s Intent

To rapidly mass combat power in Southern VIRONIA to prevent SOUTHLAND forces from penetrating PL RED and establishing an independent SIMM-dominated state. Defend only as long as is necessary to regain the initiative and then rapidly transition into offensive operations to restore the IBL. Use CAS, Army Aviation, and Fires to attrit the enemy within VIRONIA and to set the conditions for a rapid counterattack. Leverage non-lethal fires to maintain information dominance and to force the enemy’s withdrawal to his homeland. Integrate VIRONIAN security forces throughout and quickly transfer control and security operations back to them once the IBL is restored and hostilities have ended.

Endstate: SOUTHLAND forces within VIRONIA are defeated, the IBL is restored, and local control is returned to VIRONIAN security forces.

Concept of Operations

Phase 1 (Transition to Combat) begins with receipt of this order and includes the preparation for combat operations and rapid movement into the Area of Operations (AO). During Phase 1, 56th SBCT is the Main Effort (ME), and guards to the East to enable MNB-V to occupy hasty defensive positions unhindered.

Phase 2 (Defend) begins NLT 160900JUN12 with MNB-V initially occupying its hasty defensive positions vicinity PL RED and becoming the MND Main Effort. MNB-V improves its defensive positions as time allows, with organic assets guarding south of the BDE and MND-assets providing early warning whilst delaying/attriting the enemy. Defend NLT 170900JUN12. MNB-V continues to defend in sector, ensuring no enemy penetration of PL RED greater than a PLT. 56th SBCT continues to guard to the East, preventing enemy forces from flanking MNB-V.

Phase 3 (Counterattack) seize the initiative and counterattack south to defeat enemy forces before they can reorganize and establish a coordinated defense. MNB-V remains MND Main Effort, and 56th SBCT extends its guard south to remain abreast with MNB-V.

Phase 4 (Stability) maintain the IBL while safeguarding critical infrastructure and transferring security responsibilities to VIRONIAN Security Forces.
