ABOUT US

From A “Second-Chance” Institution To A Global TVET LeaderUniversiti Kuala Lumpur or better known as UniKL began with the amalgamation of 5 MARA higher vocational institutes to form the first entrepreneurial technical university in Malaysia in 2002. UniKL is a full-fledged university, established under the Higher Private Education Institution Act 1996 on 20th August, 2002. UniKL is managed by Universiti Teknikal MARA Sdn. Bhd., one of Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) group of companies. MARA is a government agency under the Ministry of Rural & Regional Development. UniKL continues to progress to become a training institution of choice comparable to the more established public universities.Upholding the industrial, institutional and international networking that were established from the pre-UniKL era, this key success factor has pushed UniKL further towards its 2020 goal through the WE4ASIA transformation plan that was developed in 2013. Through this plan, UniKL is hoping to elevate Malaysian TVET stature globally while positioning TVET as a contributor for a high income society

Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysia France Institute (UniKL MFI) is an advanced technical training center in the fields of engineering technology specialising in automation, electrical, mechanical and maintenance which are fully supported by the Malaysian government.

It was incorporated in February 1995 as a co-operation project between the Malaysian government and the French government. The French partners are represented by JF Boccard and the Association de Formation Professionelle de I’Industrie Rhodanienne (AFPI) and Malaysia is represented by MARA. Courses offered are at diploma to degree levels. Short courses and customised courses are also available.

The UniKL MFI campus is strategically located in Bandar Baru Bangi, a fast developing industrial-academia style town about 25km from Kuala Lumpur city center and only 40 minutes away from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Spanish Institute (UniKL MSI) started its operation at the temporary campus at Techno Center, Kulim Hi-Tech Park in August 2002 and later moved to the main campus built on a piece of land approximately 39 acres, also in Kulim Hi-Tech Park, Kulim, Kedah in December 2003.

The campus is set in the lush green background of Kulim Hi-Tech and is well-equipped to enable students to reach their highest potential in learning. Lecture halls, workshops (conventional & CNC machines), laboratories (hydraulic, pneumatic and etc.), library, IT lab, hostels, cafeteria, Islamic Centre, Student Centre, multipurpose hall, gymnasium, launderette, tennis & netball courts are provided to make students’ campus life is as comfortable, convenient and meaningful as it can be.

UniKL MICET is set up with complete and up-to-date equipment in the field of Chemical Engineering Technology. Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Institute of Marine Engineering Technology (UniKL MIMET) was established in 2004. It was initially established as Institut Kemahiran

Tinggi MARA (IKTM) and approved in the Seventh Malaysia Plan (1996 – 2000) and later registered as

Malaysian Institute of Marine Engineering Technology (MIMET). On 20th August 2002, MIMET became an

Institute of University Kuala Lumpur and named University Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Institute of Marine

Engineering Technology (UniKL MIMET).

The main function of UniKL MIMET is to offer a number of industry specific courses. The programmes offered are aimed to produce highly competent personnel for

the marine and maritime industry.

UniKL MIMET is committed towards providing a conducive learning environment which encourages the development of technical competence, creativity and skills among students. Students who are graduates of UniKL MIMET will have the opportunity to expand their

career in various fields such as Boatbuilding, Shipbuilding, Welding and Fabrication (ferrous /

non-ferrous), Ship / Project Planning, Naval Architecture, Technical Design / Draught Person, CAM

University Kuala Lumpur Royal College of Medicine Perak (UniKL RCMP) became part of University Kuala Lumpur in 2006 as its medical faculty with an objective to provide affordable medical education, as well as to provide facilities for continuing

professional development for medical practitioners.

UniKL RCMP is strategically located in the heart of Ipoh City, capital city of Perak and the third largest city in Malaysia. Situ-ated on a six acre site, UniKL RCMP distinctive Moorish architecture building is within the vibrant and well planned township

The university aims to provide graduates with the knowledge, skills and attitude required to contribute towards and play major roles in a globalised and knowledge-based economy. Our research activity is focused on developing new technologies and products to support our techno-entrepreneurship ventures with our researchers, graduates and industrial partners. Institute of Postgraduate Studies (IPS) was formed in 2005 and previously known as Institute of Research and Postgraduate Studies (IRPS) and Centre for Research and Postgraduate Studies (CRPS). Its function mainly to manage all aspects of postgraduate studies at UniKL, and in liaison with institutes, the admission, monitoring and also evaluation of theses and examinations. IPS will be responsible to coordinate, organise and ensure uniformity in the implementation of various postgraduate courses and programmes. In addition, IPS will also be involved in obtaining accreditation (in liaison with CQA) of the postgraduate programmes and the marketing activities involved to promote the programmes.
