University of Washington Immigration Document Upload Process – F1 Purpose: The International Student Services’ Immigration Document Upload form is a web-based application to allow new students to provide copies of their immigration documents to ISS online. This saves paper, shortens lines at orientation, minimizes loss of paper copies, and reduces filing time. For a successful experience with the Student Portal it is very important that you: a) Read this manual b) Follow the steps in the order listed below Step 1: Make digital files of your immigration documents. F-1 Students: Page 1 of I-20 showing your signature Passport biographical page with valid expiration dates F-1 visa (Canadians exempt) I-94 (after entry to U.S., download electronic I-94 at: www.cbp.gov/I94) a) Scan or take a picture of your documents before you begin the upload process. Check the files are clear and easy to read. Either PDF or JPEG files are acceptable File size is 1 MB maximum. Smaller is better. Black and white is fine. Color is also fine. University of Washington Immigration Document Upload Process – F1

Purpose:

The International Student Services’ Immigration Document Upload form is a web-based application to allow new students to provide copies of their immigration documents to ISS online.

This saves paper, shortens lines at orientation, minimizes loss of paper copies, and reduces filing time.

For a successful experience with the Student Portal it is very important that you:

a) Read this manual b) Follow the steps in the order listed below

Step 1: Make digital files of your immigration documents.

F-1 Students:

a) Scan or take a picture of your documents before you begin the upload process.

b) Name each digital file carefully.

I-20 – Page 1 Only

I-20 must show student signature and date to be approved.

You sign to show you have read and understand and agree to follow the rules sheet included with your I-20 or DS-2019.

If student is under 18 years old, parent or guardian must also sign, write address, and date.

F-1 visa page located inside the passport

Note: Canadians do not need a visa. (If you are traveling with a Canadian passport, please skip this step).

I-94 AFTER you arrive in the U.S., download and save a copy of your online I-94 record

To get a copy of the online I-94, go to: https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/I94/consent.html

Make sure your I-94 shows F1 and D/S. If your I-94 is different, contact ISS right away.

We do not need uploads of old visas, or other types of visas. Only upload your most recent F-1 visa.

Step 3: Go to the upload form: https://apps.iss.washington.edu/forms/intake/

You will be asked to log in using your UW net ID and password to access the upload form.

After logging in, you will see this screen. Select your visa type.

First, select your visa type. This will change the list of documents to upload to match your visa type.

If you are Canadian, and don’t have a visa, still choose F-1 if UW issued you an I-20 form.

Upload your digital files.

Step 4: Receive Confirmation Email

After you submit your uploaded documents, you will receive an email receipt. If you have questions or concerns about your documents, or if there is anything missing or incomplete, you can consult ISS during FIUTS Orientation Greeting Tables.

When you are done uploading, either choose “Yes” or “Not Yet” to the question asking you if you have submitted all your documents. Then click the “Submit” button.

You can always return to the same link later if you need to submit more documents.
