The Marine Division is a true achievement and ambition for Alkhorayef Commercial Company (ACC) in varying its investment fields. It was established in 1979 for the provision of after-sale-services for the sea lovers of different categories and purposes, whether commercial as fishing or excursion; amusement or sports such as diving, fishing, beach walking or other private purposes.

The Marine Division was and is still one of the leading bodies operating in this activity in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. But today it is one of the renowned establishments in the entire Gulf region for its vital position and role in this field. It has had successful and distinguished relations with the biggest manufacturers of maritime equipment since its establishment 25 years ago. The Division represents the Swedish Volvo Penta Company, one of the most prominent establishments in the Kingdom, as an exclusive agent and distributor. It manufactures internal marine engines powered by diesel or benzene and occupies a remarkable position in the international market. These engines are one of the best engines used by agencies that require efficiency and high performance such as the Border Guards, Marines and Yamaha, the famous Japanese company that enjoys more than 50% of the international market for the external marine engines (Alalagi) and more than 70% of the Saudi market in fishing, excursion and private activities.

The other Yamaha prominent products beside the marine engines are the high performance and efficient marine bikes, which represent 50% of the Saudi market, as well as the distinguished Jet boats powered by jet engines.

The other relevant services the Marine Section provides are the maintenance services, spare parts and necessary training in equipment maintenance extended to the customer in the maintenance centers in Jeddah, Khobar and Jazan.

Other renowned international products represented by the Marine Section are the French inflatable Zodiac boats for excursion, transport, and military work; the USA Glastron boats for excursion and cruising; plus other boats produced in the Kingdom and the Gulf for fishing and excursion to meet all the fisherman�s needs in the Kingdom�s waters. Besides, we have other distinguished international diving equipment for training, such as the successful Italian company Tecnicub, with which we enjoy a relationship extending 25 years; the famous USA Dacore; the Italian March; Buddy books and publications for giving lessons in diving and training according to Buddy international curriculum; and other items which give the visitors of our showrooms around the Kingdom and on the eastern and western coasts wide and integrated options.

This is only a part of the true picture of the (Sun and Sea) Section�s ability in providing rental services for the equipment, inflation services and training courses by certified instructors on a cooperative basis.

We also represent the German �Power� Company which produces pneumatic compressors for diving and safety purposes. We provide the owners of these compressors all the necessary maintenance and after-sale-services on the sites they desire.

Through our seven showrooms (in Jeddah, Khobar, Khobar 2, Jazan, Jubail, Riyadh, Alqunfuthah) our clients can probably find all the goods and services they require. The Marine Section (Sun and Sea) plays a prominent role in providing amateur fishermen with various high quality fishing equipment: engines, fishing rods, strings, different nets and other accessories needed on shore or off shore.

The efforts of the (Sun and Sea) have also been distinguished by it providing the market with the latest technologies for determining depths and discovering fish and sea sites. This gave the Section a big leap in navigation equipment and boat steering. The Section represents the USA Lawrence Company, one of most important companies for efficient and high performance navigation equipment.

Our activity also covers an outstanding group of boat accessories, engines, and boat tugging cars from recognized sources. We have lots of equipment for marine recreation, beach games and lake sports. We are also the sole agent for the Canadian �Pelican� pedals, widespread in our markets. In the last three years, the Section adopted a new strategy of including some sort of land sports usually associated with the marine motor activity. Thus we added a group of four-wheel land bikes of minimum power. We also represent the Taiwanese � Dunly� Company, one of the most important manufacturing companies in the world today. We also added another group of high quality and famous bicycles from the Taiwanese � Janet� Company, which produces various bicycles under recognized international trademarks. Janet bicycles, especially those for children, are famous for their unmatchable quality and price. The bicycle may stay in a good condition with the child for several years with minimum repair needed.

All this we provide to our honorable client through a team of technically experienced salesmen and marketers who are knowledgeable in our products and policies for the land bikes and bicycles services. These services are not much different from that provided for our other engines and marine products, such as spare parts, repair and maintenance.

If they call Mauritania �the country of one million poets� and Algeria �the country of one million martyrs,� we have the right to call the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia � the country of 20 million hosts� and consequently I have the right to add the word tourism in my article to hospitality in several places.

If the scope of preparedness of any country to receive its visitors and tourists and host them with warmth, are the criteria by which we judge the success of that country to become a tourist attraction of international standard, then the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will ascend, by the help of God, to the top. Especially in view of the fact that international criteria for successful tourism will not exceed specific issues, namely security, safety and provision of diversified tourist environments; in addition to basic services, support and organization of tourist hosting programs that suit most tastes and age categories.

I will not be exaggerating if I say that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is advancing, with the help of God, in the hospitality industry according to unique international criteria and principles that observe local habits, traditions and the Sharia. Nothing obstructs the accomplishment of success in this industry except the number of years of deliberation. These represent the time scope for applying the ambitious plans of the High Commission of Tourism (HCT) headed by HRH Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and secretary general HRH Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

To shed light on the mechanism of implementation I cite a number of radical plans for the tourism sector that will be implemented in the following phases:

¿ Tourist information Centers¿ Training of HCT employees¿ Entering joint ventures¿ Planning for new tourist regions¿ Attracting investmentsIt is worth bearing in mind that the cost of implementing these plans may

exceed SR 1,3 million; whereas the expected income in feasibility studies exceeds SR 11 billion at the minimum estimate, with a financial return equal to six times approximately. HCT is also intending to open new doors in sectors such as sport programs, heritage tourism, adventure tourism, marine tourism and other activities that attract visitors.

It is clear, from the above mentioned, that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia requires at the present time to combine the efforts of all its sons to promote all sectors in order to cope with the forthcoming challenges in the tourism field, especially in marine tourism abound in ingredients, natural resources and support services. Today, we behold the first signs of this in a number of businessmen who stand, and will stand by the help of God, behind great projects that serve the country and its visitors. One of those businessmen is my brother Sheikh Sa�ad bin Abdullah Alkhorayef, AGC chairman of board of directors, with whom I have fraternal, practical and strong relations. I thank him for hosting me in this Quarterly and wish more success and progress for our beloved country.

I also thank all those who contributed, and are still contributing, in activating the tourism business in general and the marine tourism in particular and reassure them that the future will bear all the good fruit.

In the extraordinary meeting of the biggest manufacturers of irrigation systems worldwide, the activities of �Australia Irrigation 2004� took off for three days from 11 to 13 May at the Conference Center in Adelaide City, of the southern state of Australia, gathering 45 companies under one ceiling.

At the show stand No. 107 Alkhorayef Industries Co. (AIC)

was an extraordinary representative for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Middle East. Many rival companies were surprised and astonished at the presence of AIC with its center pivot irrigation system called � Western Irrigation System.�

The participation of AIC in the first international fair outside the Middle East and North Africa was effective. AIC managed through this participation to build strong working relations based on its experience in the agricultural field for more than 50 years in the region.

AIC�s participation, compared to other companies, was characterized by its multiple products under one ceiling. In most stands you could find a company specialized in sprinklers only, pumps only or drop irrigation technology etc. On AIC�s stand you found an integrated group of products (pumps, gears boxes, center pivot irrigation systems, lined pipes and sprinklers). The visitor was especially astonished when he realized that we were the sole manufacturers worldwide for the polyethylene-lined irrigation systems.

Products show for the first timeAIC participated with two products in this fair:

special control panel for the center pivot irrigation system and the lined center pivot irrigation system. These products were the strongest items among the other inventions and unexpectedly attracted many visitors to AIC�s stand.

Through three days and with the supervision and

follow up of Engr. Mohammed Alkhorayef, chairman and CEO of the manufacturing affairs, many meetings were held on different levels within the �Australia Irrigation� exhibition and on the fringes of its activities. AIC was able, through these meetings, to secure a strong and honorable presence in the Australian irrigation market, which will help it a lot in the coming period.

This participation coincided with the strategy of opening new international markets outside the Middle East and North Africa regions for AIC�s products, which boast the latest specifications.
