This week across all public schools we take time out to celebrate the amazing job our wonderful SASS staff do. SASS stands for School Administrative and Support Staff. At Teralba Public School our SASS Team consists of Robyn, Paul, Meleaha, Karen, Lisa, Ange and Jen. SASS staff are vital in schools in supporting your children. Teralba teaching staff acknowledge every single day how amazing our SASS staff are. Without the SASS staff we would not know how much money is in the school, bills would not get paid, medication may not be given out, ice packs and sick children may not be looked after. Band aids, reading to groups and individual learning support would not happen. This week (and others) take the time to thank our wonderful SASS staff for the amazing job they do. PARENT FORUM FEEDBACK Last week Teralba Public School staff held a parent forum to discuss future ideas and directions for the school. Parents are now invited to complete an anonymous online survey so that staff can continue to improve the school. The survey is 10 questions and should take about 5 minutes. Please take the time to participate. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/L7VQVS3 LIBRARY Now that Mrs Pohl will be teaching in the library your child’s library day will be different. K-1 and 5-6 Mondays, 1-2 and 2-3-4 Tuesdays. ZONE ATHLETICS Congratulations to our amazing Zone Athletics athletes. They not only conducted themselves well on the day but competed to the highest standard. IPLAY Why are fundamental movement skills important?

Fundamental movement skills are the ‘building blocks’ for movement. They are needed to participate successfully in all types of games, physical activities and sports.

As we can see in the picture below, the development of one movement skill pattern - the overarm throw - can be transferred into a number of physical activities. This provides children with numerous opportunities to participate in a variety of different sports and physical activities.

Children who are competent in fundamental movement skills are more likely to:

• Enjoy sports and activities

• Have a positive attitude towards physical activity

• Develop a lifelong commitment to physical activity

• Be fitter

• Be in the healthy weight range

• Have better socialisation skills

• Have better self-esteem and confidence - these improvements have a flow-on effect to other areas of a child’s life.

Children who do not master fundamental movement skills are more likely to drop out of sport and physical activities.
