Beginning Machine Applique
Tired of piecing blocks consisting of geometric
shapes. Ready to try curves, flowers, leaves, cir-
cles, letters, swirls and more? Then it’s time to
learn machine appliqué. Applique is the process
of seeing fabric shapes onto a background fabric
and stitching them in place along the edges. In
this class, you’ll learn how to trace, fuse and cut
out appliqué shapes. We’ll go over how to ma-
chine-stitch the raw edges of your designs using 3
different stitches-the blanket stitch, the zigzag
stitch and the straight stitch. You’ll make samples in class and get lots of tips to
take home with you.

Quilts for Kids
On the first Tuesday of each month, a group of experienced, charity-minded quilters meet at PQW to sew for the organization, Quilts for Kids. Quilts are
donated to care facilities to be given to children who are ill, abused, or in difficult situations who could use the comfort of a handmade quilt. Although all the spots for sewing participants are filled, we can certainly use more volunteers to sew quilts at home. Kits will be provided. If interested, please contact Deb for more detailed information concerning your involvement in this worthwhile cause: [email protected].
Meets: 10:15 am–3 pm May 7, June 4, July 2, August 6, September 3, October 1, November 5, December 3
Class registration policy • Full payment is due upon signing up for a class. You can make payment in the store, online,
or by phone. A supply list will be given or sent to you at that time.
• 100% of class fees are refundable or transferable to another class if cancellation is made at least 72 hours before class.
• No credit, refund or transfer to another class will be given if 72-hour notice is not given. Our teachers prepare for each student in each class in advance of the class.
• No-shows forfeit any refund or exchange.
Private Class For times when a regularly scheduled class just won’t do, we offer private classes to fill the void. Let’s say that a class you're interested in requires rotary skills, and you’re still snipping along with scissors. Well a 1-hour private class will bring you up to speed. Or say that you really want to get the hang of paper-piecing or some other skill. Or maybe our classes just don’t fit in your schedule. Talk to any one of us and we’ll find you the right person at the right time to teach you what you need to know. $25 per hour per person.
