Agreed in 2005 for its establishment. It aims to commit to feasible greenhouse gas emission reduction through the public-private cooperation.

Different projects such as knowledge sharing of technologies which are highly effective in emission reduction, analysis of potential reductions, and target setting of unit requirements, under the taskforces which have been set for the major eight issue areas.

[Outline]

CO2 emissions from these sectors account for 67% of those from the Partner countries (in 2007) (*).

Mission of GSEP

Sectoral WGs will each bring together experts and leaders from the public, private, and academic/research sectors to exchange information and to create practical projects.

The most important feature of the three Sectoral WGs is public-private partnerships focused on their respective industrial sectors, with the goal of promoting best practices for energy efficiency.

Many of the activities of these working groups were initiated through the Asia-Pacific Partnership on Clean Development and Climate (APP). Some APP projects will be continued through the Sectoral working groups and be expanded to include participants from additional countries.

GSEP aims to reduce global energy use in industrial facilities and commercial buildings in order to promote energy security and global warming measures.
