Eligible home owners may apply to have the Provincial Government pay the current year’s residential property taxes for their principal residence. If a home owner chooses to defer their taxes, the Municipality is paid by the Province, rather than by the homeowner. To find out more information about the Provincial Property Tax Deferment program, including eligibility requirements, visit the Defer Your Property Taxes page on the Province’s website. Please note that effective this year, deferment applications and renewals must be submitted online through the Province of BC website. Tax deferment is a low interest loan program that helps qualified B.C. homeownerspay their annual property taxes on their principal residence.
