UPGRADES PROGRAMIMPROVE EXISTING EQUIPMENT
INCREASED RELIABILITY | ENERGY EFFICIENCY | ASSET CONTROL
REHAB YOUR TIRED OR OUTDATED COOLING UNITS In a perfect world, a company could upgrade to the latest equipment as necessary – or whenever new technology is introduced. We all know the reality: companies need to squeeze all the performance and life they can out of existing equipment before replacement.
When it comes to CRAC and CRAH units*, Data Aire’s Upgrades Program offers reliability, modern performance and new life to your existing equipment. Upgraded equipment has the most advanced technology available – technology that reduces maintenance, saves energy and is easier on the environment.
THE SOLUTION It’s easy to upgrade and modernize with Data Aire’s Upgrades Program – which replaces obsolete microprocessors and high-maintenance supply fans with state-of-the-art-controls and maintenance-free electrically commuted (EC) plenum fans.
BENEFITS
*(CRAC) Computer Room AC; (CRAH) Computer Room Air Handler
Less utility costs and possible energy rebate savings on unit replacements
Maximizes initial equipment investment
Can retrofit existing CRAC or CRAH*
Improved energy savings/ sustainability
Upgrades automatically elevated to premium line
INDOOR UPGRADES EC PLUG FANS
Eliminate the need to check fans, realign and retighten belts every month and replace belts every year. Upgrading to EC fans simplifies operation and maintenance. The advantages of EC variable speed, direct drive, backward-curved fans (plug fans) are numerous.
Maintenance freeEC fans are direct drive, so there are no belts to replace or adjust, and no bearings to lubricate.
Deliver air where it’s neededPlenum fans equally pressurize all areas of the ductwork and the raised floor plenum makes it much easier to deliver the air where it needs to go.
Energy EfficiencyFan energy usage is reduced by a minimum of 35% – and as much as 50% under the floor.
No Belt Dust ContaminationPlug fans have no belts, so the duct work on up flow units and the area under the raised floor on down flow units are never contaminated with belt dust.
RedundancyIf one fan fails in a multiple-fan unit, the other fans automatically increase their speed to compensate.
Variable SpeedManually adjust airflow at the touch of a button – without shutting down operation or opening the unit’s door. Modulate fans based on temperature or pressure.
Energy EfficiencyCondenser fans have high-efficiency airfoil shaped blades driven by variable speed EC motors – that use up to 50% less energy than standard fans. Additionally, all fans ramp up and down together to utilize the surface area of the condenser coil more efficiently.
Quieter OperationCondenser fans turn their fastest at design ambient temperature – which only occurs a few hours each year. At other times the fans turn more slowly producing significantly less noise.
OUTDOOR UPGRADES HEAT EXCHANGER FANS AND MOTORS FOR AIR COOLED CONDENSERS CONDENSING UNIT, FLUID COOLERSUpgrade the fans on outdoor heat exchangers with axial blade fans to EC motors controlled by refrigerant head pressure– resulting in quieter operation, increased reliability, and less energy usage than standard fans.
Increased ReliabilityThe composite blade material will not rust. Each fan is driven by its own variable speed motor – so if one fan motor fails, the other fans increase speed to compensate for this loss and keep the system on line.

CONTROLS INTELLIGENT ENERGY MANAGEMENTSince controllers are the brains of the equipment and cooling system, obsolete microprocessors will affect the performance of your equipment. Upgraded controls provide several EC fan speed control modes that will optimize EC fan usage and energy savings.
idap
dap4 Display
COMMUNICATIONSThe Data Aire dap4 connects to your building management system and interfaces with Modbus, Bacnet, Ethernet and Lonworks.
idap allows for remote monitoring and control of the unit from anywhere, as long as you have Internet access. It sends email alerts identifying alarms that the controller detects. It even provides trending data for every 24 hour period that can be downloaded for recording and analysis.
RackSense 32
Smart Power Capacitor
ACCESSORIESRackSense 32 Module• Measure and monitor temperature at as many as 32 locations
in your data room• Eliminate hot spots• Analyze adaptive control for optimal cooling
dap4 Smart Power Capacitor• Provides up to a 90 second ride-through to eliminate controller reboot
upon momentary loss of power• Allows the dap4 to perform a controlled logic shutdown of any running
compressors so the compressors will restart in a controlled manner
dap4 PowerMeter• Analyze the power usage and condition for energy analysis• Historical power consumption• Phase loss alarm
dap4 with Zone Master
ZONE MASTER – REAL-TIME DECISION SUPPORTThe Zone Master interface provides teamwork control – increasing energy efficiency and maximizing productivity. It offers scheduled lead/lag rotation and a bridge communication solution to control back-up units, or to alternate the units to even out the usage and wear.
Save Energy.Improve System Performance.
The optional dap PowerMeter is a line powered three phase energy sub-meter that fits seamlessly to your existing dap4 control module via a built-in Modbus communication port. It provides users with a solution for the system power condition and power consumption monitoring. The dap Power Meter can help the end user fine tune their system to optimize the performance and minimize the energy cost. The following power data can be viewed on the dap4 display:
● Line to line voltages
● Line to neutral voltages
● Phase currents
● Instantaneous active power in watts
● Instantaneous apparent power in VA
● Power consumed in kWh
● Maximum and minimum instantaneous watts in the last 24 hours
● Historical daily power consumed in the last 30 days
● Loss of phase alarm, selectable shutdown unit
● Power meter off line alarm
● Total zone power usage in kW if unit has Zone Master configuration
The voltages, current and instantaneous power in watts and power consumed in kWh can be communicated to a BMS via BACnet, Modbus and SNMP protocols when the dap4 controller has a BACnet or Modbus optional network communication card installed.
* The dap4 software version must be 1.30 or higher to use the dap Power Meter* If installed in Canada, the optional dap Power Meter can handle up to 600 volts and requires an external 24 volt DC power supply
