"MAKE THE STUMPS BETTER” Be sure to join the Facebook group "Make the Stumps Better"! Search it on

Facebook or find it directly HERE.

"Make the Stumps Better" is an initiative of the Commanding General of the MAGTF Training Command and the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center. This page is designed to welcome innovative ideas in order to make life and

systems aboard MCAGCC better for all of those who live, work and play here. This is not a replacement for Interactive Customer Evaluations (ICE) and

complaints, harassment, bullying, slander or otherwise offensive material will not be tolerated. Soliciting will also not be tolerated and will be grounds for

removal. Posting of links does not imply endorsement from the Marine Corps or MAGTFTC/MCAGCC.

We welcome your ideas, comments and conversations with each other on how you each have modified and grown in desert life. How has your life changed since moving to the desert? How has your family adapted to life here? Have you seen something aboard the installation that you feel could work better if

approached differently? This is the conversation we hope to promote, keeping in mind fiscal constraints of our installation. Appropriate innovative ideas and suggestions will be forwarded appropriately to sections and units aboard the

installation, or even directly to the Commanding General. Answers will be provided when needed.

Thank you for your time, and we look forward to working with you to "Make the Stumps Better" for us all.

SCHOOL LIAISON OFFICER’S “TIP OF THE WEEK” Make your next PCS move a “Positive Change in Schools” by contacting your School Liaison as soon as possible

after receiving your PCS orders. School Liaisons are subject matter experts on K-12 education and local school communities and can help ease the transition for everyone involved. A list of all USMC School Liaisons can be

found HERE. The MCAGCC School Liaison is Mr. Thomas Cruz (830-1574 or via email at [email protected]).

TIP OF THE WEEK! Stay tuned & find new transition tips to help make the move to a new school easier.

Tip #9: . Be sure to pay any outstanding fees at your current school, return library books and any other items belonging to the school. If those items are not cleared, there could be delays with transcripts. In case you missed it… Tip #8: Find out if the new school requires testing and/or prerequisites in order to place students at the appropriate level for their skills. It might be possible to arrange for those tests before you arrive, so you are good to go when you register your child. Tip #7: If you will be arriving after tryouts have occurred for a favorite extra-curricular activity, create a short video introducing your child and highlighting his or her skills in action; it might help reserve a spot on the team. Tip #6: Bring samples of your child’s current school work. Tip #5: Contact your child’s current school to arrange for unofficial copies of the all necessary school records that you can hand-carry with you during the move and provide to the new school upon your arrival. Tip #4: Make copies of your child’s current textbook cover, table of contents and the course syllabi to bring to your new school. Tip #3: If your orders require that your family relocate before the end of the current school year, make sure to notify your child’s current school as soon as possible. Tip #2: Help your child to explore the local area before the move using technology. All schools and districts now maintain websites, and many heavily impacted school districts have pages dedicated to military families.

Tip #1: Start talking about the upcoming move with your child as soon as you receive your orders. Talk about the positive aspects of moving and experiencing new areas.
