MWCA CHAPTER REPORTS Streaked Mt. Wood Carvers
Streaked Mt. Wood Carvers Submitted by Sheri Fowler
November meeting quite fun, attendance about the same, snacks, fun tips and tricks, no major funds difference, and Christmas decoration carvings turned in (can you tell I can’t find my minutes?). Another hooray for Bernadette, her photos are the thousand words! Bob Perry had cut out nice tree ornaments, trees literally, that we then carved an expressive face into and more detailing. It was a great success, and perfect in the time element of our enjoyable afternoon- thanks Bob for sharing! Next December meeting the fun pot-luck dinner with gift exchange, maybe do a carve-around. As Art Chamberlin says: ”keep going with the grain!”
COASTAL CARVERS Coastal Carvers Meeting 11/24
Attendance 18
Jim called the meeting to order. There was no Old Business and a reminder of the Christmas Party
Dec. 8th for New Business. If we have bad weather then the date will be Dec. 15th. A sign-up
sheet for food was passed around.
Show-n-tell
Gary shared a cotton wood bark house he had made; Ralph carved a Santa Bird and painted it:
Dana carved a fish and brought some Mopani wood to share to be used as bases as it is a very
dense wood; Marshall shared his painted and mounted fish made from pine; Beverly and Richard
worked together on 2 snowmen they carved and painted; Richard Spear shared a carved relief he
made; Karen had a mini house made of cotton wood bark that could be lit; and Jim had three carved
fish.
After some delicious refreshments and a few penciled instructions as a starting point, Karen
proceeded to teach us how to carve our Gnomes.
Everyone had different one in the end as Karen had planned, allowing each to put his or her own
ideas to work with her help. She certainly knows the teaching method. Thanks so very much
Karen. A good time was had by all and you should have seen the chips fly.
Thanks too go out to Hariph for sending in the photos of our carvings.
See everyone on the 8th at 11:30am.
Yours truly,
Barbara

ments that they have carved/made to
the Kora Shrine Temple “FEZtival of
Trees” as a token of
appreciation for allowing the Associa-
tion to use the Buckfield Masonic hall
for MWCA seminars.
Bob Perry coordinates and collects the
ornaments and delivers them to the
Kora Shriners Temple in Lewiston.
