Call to Worship. I Lift My Eyes Up

I lift my eyes up to the mountain.

Where does my help come from?

My help comes from You, maker of heaven,

Creator of the earth.

Oh, how I need You, Lord.

You are my only hope;

You're my only prayer.

So I will wait for You

To come and rescue me;

Come and give me life. CCLI Song # 317936 Brian Doerksen © 1990 Mercy / Vineyard Publishing (Admin. by Vineyard Music USA) Vineyard Songs Canada (Admin. by Vineyard Music USA) For use solely with the SongSelect Terms of Use. All rights reserved. www.ccli.com CCLI License # 11030776

Here are symbols to remind us

Of our lifelong need of grace;

Here are table, font, and pulpit;

Here the cross has central place.

Here in honesty of preaching,

Here in silence, as in speech,

Here, in newness and renewal,

God the Spirit comes to each.

Here our children find a welcome

In the Shepherd's flock and fold;

Here as bread and wine are taken,

Christ sustains us, as of old.

Here, the servants of the Servant S

eek in worship to explore

What it means in daily living

To believe and to adore.

Lord of all, of church and kingdom,

In an age of change and doubt

Keep us faithful to the Gospel;

Help us work Your purpose out.

Here, in this day's dedication

All we have to give, receive;

We, who cannot live without You,

We adore You! We believe! CCLI Song # 223549 Cyril Vincent Taylor | Fred Pratt Green © Words: 1975. 1994 Hope Publishing Company Music: 1942. Renewed 1970 Hope Publishing Company For use solely with the SongSelect Terms of Use. All rights reserved. www.ccli.com CCLI License # 11030776

ALMIGHTY God, to you all hearts are open, all desires known, and

from you no secrets are hid: Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by

the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you,

and worthily magnify your holy Name; through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Summary of the Law

Hear what our Lord Jesus Christ said.

YOU shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your

soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great command-

ment. And the second is like it, You shall love your neighbor as

yourself. On these two commandments hang all the Law and the

Prophets. (St. Matthew 22:37-40)

The Collect for the Persecuted Church

O LORD God, whose Son Jesus Christ suffered and died for us and in

His resurrection restores life and peace to all creation; O Lord God,

our Redeemer, Defender, Protector, and Avenger, we pray for Your

people who are victims of violence and hatred and are oppressed

and injured by their fellow humans. Give strength and encourage-

ment to them by Your Holy Spirit. Look upon them and help us to

honor those who are suffering or have died in Your service. Comfort

their families and give them courage. Thwart the oppressors and

call them to repentance, but if they will not repent, we commit

them to Your justice. All this we pray through the same, Jesus Christ

our Lord. Amen

All standing, the Deacon or Priest reads the Gospel, first saying

Priest. The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ

according to St. Luke 9:18-24

People. Glory to you, Lord Christ.

After the Gospel, the Reader says

Priest. The Gospel of the Lord.

People. Praise to you, Lord Christ.

The Children’s Sermon

The Sermon

Nicene Creed

Let us confess our faith in the words of the Nicene Creed.

Celebrant and People

WE believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven

and earth, of all that is, visible and invisible.

WE believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally

begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God

from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father;

through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he

came down from heaven, was incarnate from the Holy Spirit and

the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified

under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the

third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he as-

cended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his

kingdom will have no end.

WE believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who pro-

ceeds from the Father [and the Son], who with the Father and the

Son is worshiped and glorified, who has spoken through the proph-

ets.

WE believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowl-

edge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resur-

rection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen. The filioque [and the Son] is not in the original Greek text. Nevertheless, in the Western Church the filioque

[and the Son] is customary at worship and is used for the explication of doctrine [39 Articles of Religion].

The operative resolution of the College of Bishops concerning use of the filioque is printed with the Gen-

eral Instructions at the end of the Holy Communion, Long Form.

The Prayers of the People

LET us pray for the whole state of Christ’s Church and the world.

ALMIGHTY and ever-living God, in your holy Word you have taught us

to offer prayers and requests, and to give thanks for all whom you

have made. We appeal to your mercy, Gracious Lord, that you

might hear our prayer.

21

Of a holy city built by God's own hand,

A place where peace and justice reign.

Chorus:

We will stand as children of the promise.

We will fix our eyes on Him our soul's reward.

Till the race is finished and the work is done,

We'll walk by faith and not by sight.

By faith the prophets saw a day

When the longed-for Messiah would appear

With the pow'r to break the chains of sin and death

And rise triumphant from the grave.

By faith the church was called to go

In the pow'r of the Spirit to the lost,

To deliver captives and to preach good news

In ev'ry corner of the earth. (Chorus)

By faith the mountain shall be moved,

And the pow'r of the gospel shall prevail,

For we know in Christ all things are possible

For all who call upon His name. The Dismissal

Celebrant. Let us go forth rejoicing in the power

of the Holy Spirit. Alleluia! Alleluia!

People. Thanks be to God. Alleluia! Alleluia!

I will follow You, I

will follow You, I

will follow You.

The Post Communion Prayer

Let us pray.

Celebrant and People praying together

HEAVENLY Father, we thank you for feeding us with the spiritual food

of the most precious Body and Blood of your Son our Savior Jesus

Christ; and for assuring us in these holy mysteries that we are living

members of the Body of your Son, and heirs of your eternal king-

dom. And now, Father, send us out into the world to do the work

you have given us to do, to love and serve you as faithful witnesses

of Christ our Lord. To him, to you, and to the Holy Spirit, be honor

and glory, now and forever. Amen.

Prayer for Those in Need of Healing of Any Kind

The Blessing

THE peace of God which passes all understanding keep your hearts

and minds in the knowledge and love of God, and of his Son Jesus

Christ our Lord; and the blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the

Son, and the Holy Spirit, be among you, and remain with you al-

ways. Amen.

Recessional By Faith

By faith we see the hand of God

In the light of creation's grand design,

In the lives of those who prove His faithfulness,

Who walk by faith and not by sight.

By faith our fathers roamed the earth

With the pow'r of His promise in their hearts,

9

Reader. Lord, in your mercy,

People. hear our prayer.

INSPIRE your universal Church by your Spirit, granting that all who

confess your holy Name may agree in the truth of your holy Word

and live in unity and godly love.

Reader. Lord, in your mercy,

People. hear our prayer.

GIVE grace, heavenly Father, to all Bishops, Priests, and Deacons,

and especially to your servant(s) Foley, our Archbishop, Royal, our

Presiding Bishop, Daniel, our Bishop Ordinary and Peter, our Suffra-

gan Bishop, that by their life and teaching, they may proclaim your

true and life-giving Word, and rightly administer your holy Sacra-

ments.

Reader. Lord, in your mercy,

People. hear our prayer.

HELP us to fulfill your great commission; making disciples of all na-

tions; teaching them to obey all that you have commanded.

Reader. Lord, in your mercy,

People. hear our prayer.

WE ask you to rule the hearts of all who govern us, (our President,

the Congress, the Supreme Court, our Governor and our military

leaders) . May they administer justice, govern wisely, and strive for

the welfare and peace of the whole world.

Reader. Lord, in your mercy,

People. hear our prayer.

GRANT your heavenly grace to all people, especially these gathered

here, that with meek and reverent hearts, we may hear and trust

your holy Word, devoting our lives to your righteous service.

Reader. Lord, in your mercy,

People. hear our prayer.

10

WE humbly ask you, gracious Lord, to comfort and strengthen all

those who, in this earthly life are in trouble, sorrow, need, sickness,

or any other adversity.

**Reader. I invite you to add your own requests at this time.**

Reader. Lord, in your mercy,

People. hear our prayer.

WE bless your holy Name for all your servants who departed this

life in your faith and fear, praying you would grant us grace to fol-

low their good examples, that with them we might partake in your

heavenly kingdom.

Reader. Lord, in your mercy,

People. hear our prayer.

GRANT these our prayers, O Father, for Jesus Christ’s sake, our only

Mediator and Advocate. Amen.

The Confession and Absolution of Sin

WE pray to you also for the forgiveness of our sins.

The Deacon and People kneel as able and pray

MOST merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in

thought, word and deed, by what we have done, and by what we

have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we

have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We are truly sorry and

we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have

mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in your will, and

walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.

The Bishop or Priest stands and says

ALMIGHTY God, our heavenly Father, who in his great mercy has

promised forgiveness of sins to all those who sincerely repent and

with true faith turn to him, have mercy upon you, pardon and de-

liver you from all your sins, confirm and strengthen you in all good-

ness, and bring you to everlasting life; through Jesus Christ our

Lord. Amen.

19

I will follow.

All Your ways are good;

All Your ways are sure.

I will trust in You alone.

Higher than my sight,

High above my life,

I will trust in You alone.

Chorus:

Where You go, I'll go.

Where You stay, I'll stay.

When You move, I'll move.

I will follow You.

Whom You love, I'll love.

How You serve, I'll serve.

If this life I lose,

I will follow You.

Light into the world,

Light into my life,

I will live for You alone.

You're the One I seek,

Knowing I will find

All I need in You alone,

In You alone. (Chorus)

In You there's life everlasting.

In You there's freedom for my soul.

In You there's joy unending joy,

And I will follow. (Chorus)

Chorus:

Better is one day in Your courts,

Better is one day in Your house,

Better is one day in Your courts

Than thousands elsewhere.

Better is one day in Your courts,

Better is one day in Your house,

Better is one day in Your courts

Than thousands elsewhere,

Than thousands elsewhere.

One thing I ask, and I would seek:

To see Your beauty,

To find You in the place Your glory dwells.

One thing I ask, and I would seek:

To see Your beauty,

To find You in the place Your glory dwells.

My heart and flesh cry out

For You, the living God.

Your Spirit's water to my soul.

I've tasted, and I've seen.

Come once again to me.

I will draw near to You,

I will draw near to You. (Chorus) CCLI Song # 1097451 Matt Redman © 1995 Thankyou Music (Admin. by Capitol CMG Publishing) For use solely with the SongSelect Terms of Use. All rights reserved. www.ccli.com CCLI License # 11030776

The Peace

Celebrant. The Peace of the Lord be always with

you.

People. And with your spirit.

Then the Ministers and People may greet one another in the name of the Lord.

The Offertory

Celebrant. Let us remember the words of our Lord Jesus Christ and

how he said, it is more blessed to give than to receive.

I Will Offer Up My Life

I will offer up my life

In spirit and truth,

Pouring out the oil of love

As my worship to You.

In surrender I must give

My ev'ry part.

Lord, receive the sacrifice

Of a broken heart.

Chorus:

Jesus, what can I give,

What can I bring

To so faithful a friend,

To so loving a King?

Savior, what can be said,

What can be sung

As a praise of Your name

For the things You have done?

Oh, my words could not tell,

Not even in part

Page 12: UR MISSION STATEMENT Christ Our Hope Anglican …...2016/06/05  · Here as bread and wine are taken, Christ sustains us, as of old. Here, the servants of the Servant S eek in worship

12

Of the debt of love

That is owed by this Thankful heart.

You deserve my every breath,

For You've paid the great cost,

Giving up Your life to death,

Even death on a cross.

You took all my shame away,

There defeated my sin,

Opened up the gates of heaven

Taste and See

Taste and see, taste and see the goodness of the Lord.

O taste and see, taste and see the goodness of the Lord, of the

Lord.

I will bless the Lord at all times. Praise shall always be on my lips;

My soul shall glory in the Lord for God has been so good to me.

Taste and see...

Glorify the Lord with me. Together let us all praise God's name.

I called the Lord who answered me; from all my troubles I was set

free.

Taste and see...

Worship the Lord, all you people. You'll want for nothing if you ask.

Taste and see that the Lord is good; in God we need put all our

trust.

Better Is One Day

How lovely is Your dwelling place,

O Lord almighty.

For my soul longs and even faints for You.

For here my heart is satisfied

Within Your presence.

I sing beneath the shadow of Your wings.

The Prayer of Humble Access

Celebrant and People praying together

WE do not presume to come to this your table, merciful Lord, trust-

ing in our own righteousness, but in your abundant and great mer-

cies. We are not worthy so much as to gather up the crumbs under

your table. But you are the same Lord, who always delights in

showing mercy. Grant us, therefore, gracious Lord, so to eat the

flesh of your dear Son Jesus Christ and to drink his blood, that our

sinful bodies may be made clean by his body, and our souls washed

through his most precious blood, and that we may evermore dwell

in him, and he in us. Amen.

The Ministration of Communion

THE gifts of God for the People of God.

HOLY COMMUNION- All baptized Christians are invited to take commun-

ion. If you or a child with you does not wish to take communion, but does wish to

13

Then the Celebrant will say,

OUR fellow Christians of other branches of Christ’s Church, who

have been Baptized in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and

of the Holy Spirit, are affectionately invited to the Lord’s Table.

The Sursum Corda (Lift Up Your Hearts)

The People remain standing. The Celebrant faces them and sings or says

Celebrant. The Lord be with you.

People. And with your spirit.

Celebrant. Lift up your hearts.

People. We lift them to the Lord.

Celebrant. Let us give thanks to the Lord our

God.

People. It is just and right so to do.

IT is right, and a good and joyful thing, always and everywhere to

give thanks to you, Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth.

THEREFORE we praise you, joining our voices with Angels and Archan-

gels and with all the company of heaven, who forever sing this

hymn to proclaim the glory of your Name:

Holy, holy, holy Lord,

God of power, god of power and might,

Heaven and earth are full of your glory.

Hosanna in the higest,

Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord

Hosanna in the highest.

Holy, holy, holy is the Lord!

The Prayer of Consecration

ALMIGHTY God, our heavenly Father, in your tender mercy, you gave

your only Son Jesus Christ to suffer death upon the cross for our

redemption. He offered himself and made, once for all time, a per-

fect and sufficient sacrifice for the sins of the whole world. He insti-

tuted this remembrance of his passion and death, which he com-

manded us to continue until he comes again. So now, Father, we

ask you to bless and sanctify, with your Word and Holy Spirit, these

gifts of bread and wine that we may partake of his most blessed

Body and Blood.

ON the night that he was betrayed, our Lord Jesus Christ took

bread; and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and gave it to

his disciples, saying, “Take, eat; this is my Body which is given for

you: Do this in remembrance of me.”

AFTER supper, Jesus took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he

gave it to them, saying, “Drink this, all of you; for this is my Blood of

the New Covenant, which is shed for you, and for many, for the for-

giveness of sins: Whenever you drink it, do this in remembrance of

me.” THEREFORE we proclaim the mystery of faith:

Celebrant and People praying together

Christ has died.

Christ is risen.

Christ will come again.

The Celebrant continues

LORD and heavenly Father, with these holy gifts we celebrate the

memorial instituted by your beloved Son, remembering his passion

and death, his resurrection and ascension, and his promise to come

again. Grant that by his merits and death, and through faith in his

Blood, we and your whole Church may receive forgiveness of our

sins and all other benefits of his passion, making us one body with

him that he may dwell in us, and we in him. And here we offer to

you, O Lord, ourselves, our souls and bodies, to be a living sacrifice,

through Jesus Christ our Lord. BY him and with him and in him, in

the unity of the Holy Spirit, all honor and glory is yours, Almighty

Father, now and forever. Amen.

Lord’s Prayer

The Celebrant then says

AND now as our Savior Christ has taught us, we are bold to sing,
