![Page 8: URL:](https://reader036.vdocument.in/reader036/viewer/2022062520/56816509550346895dd77cf6/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)

Step 3: Draw a rectangle and make it the same color as the one in the brochure
![Page 10: URL:](https://reader036.vdocument.in/reader036/viewer/2022062520/56816509550346895dd77cf6/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)
…but firstTo be able to match a color in the brochure, first paste a pictureOf the brochure into your Illustrator/InDesign/PhotoShop document
…you can use this one:
![Page 11: URL:](https://reader036.vdocument.in/reader036/viewer/2022062520/56816509550346895dd77cf6/html5/thumbnails/11.jpg)
Draw Shapes & Copy Color Draw a rectangle, then select the eye-dropper tool, then click on the color you want
Draw a rectangle, then select the eye-dropper tool then click on the color you want
Click on the color you want with the eyedropper tool,Then draw the rectangle
![Page 12: URL:](https://reader036.vdocument.in/reader036/viewer/2022062520/56816509550346895dd77cf6/html5/thumbnails/12.jpg)
Step 4: Create a new layer to put your photos on
![Page 13: URL:](https://reader036.vdocument.in/reader036/viewer/2022062520/56816509550346895dd77cf6/html5/thumbnails/13.jpg)
Window -> Layers
Illustrator automatically gives you a “Layer 1”. The new layer is automatically named “Layer 2”
InDesign automatically gives you a “Layer 1”. The new layer is automatically named “Layer 2”
PhotoSHop automatically gives you a “Background” layer. The Vector Smart Object layer was generated when the photoWas ‘placed’ in the document. The layer above was generated whenThe rectangle was drawn. “Layer 1” is the name of the new layer.
![Page 14: URL:](https://reader036.vdocument.in/reader036/viewer/2022062520/56816509550346895dd77cf6/html5/thumbnails/14.jpg)
Step 5: ‘Crop’ photos (i.e. use part of an image)
![Page 15: URL:](https://reader036.vdocument.in/reader036/viewer/2022062520/56816509550346895dd77cf6/html5/thumbnails/15.jpg)
You can create a mask to cover the portion of the image you don’t want to see
You can create a frame that the portion of the image you want to see shows through
You can select the portion of the image you want to use and paste that portion where you want it to be.
Preview – using part of an image

3. Select both the shape and the image
4. Object -> Clipping Mask -> Make
5. You can undo this with Object -> Clipping Mask -> Release
![Page 17: URL:](https://reader036.vdocument.in/reader036/viewer/2022062520/56816509550346895dd77cf6/html5/thumbnails/17.jpg)
Place a photo inside a frame

5. If it isn’t the right size, use the “eraser tool”
Paste in part of a photo from another file and tweak it
![Page 19: URL:](https://reader036.vdocument.in/reader036/viewer/2022062520/56816509550346895dd77cf6/html5/thumbnails/19.jpg)
Step 6: Aligning elements
Try using the grid Try using the alignment tools
![Page 20: URL:](https://reader036.vdocument.in/reader036/viewer/2022062520/56816509550346895dd77cf6/html5/thumbnails/20.jpg)

Finally… use the directSelect tool to square off the ends the way they are in the brochure:

PREVIEW: All 3 apps have a “text tool”, and they work similarly…but not identically
![Page 28: URL:](https://reader036.vdocument.in/reader036/viewer/2022062520/56816509550346895dd77cf6/html5/thumbnails/28.jpg)
