Swim Course – 375M (1 Lap)§ Pontoon/dock start. Counter-clockwise – 1 Lap (buoys on left).

§ Athletes receive swim cap and chip at swim start.

§ Stand behind one spot on pontoon/dock.

§ “On Your Mark!” (move forward to edge of pontoon/dock).

§ Air horn starts race.

§ Official water temperature announced 1 hour before each event.

Transition 1§ Used swim equipment must go in Transition bin.

Transition 2§ Rack bike by seat, or both handlebars/both brake levers.

§ Used bike equipment must be placed in Transition bin.

Uniform & Aero Bars

§ Uniform must cover torso.

§ Front zipper must remain up.

§ Sleeves are not allowed.

§ Clip-on aero bars may not extend beyond brake levers.

§ Aero bars must be touching or joined both with solid standard factory bridge at forward most point.

§ Bar-end plugs in place.

Helmet

§ Athletes must wear undamaged, unaltered protective head cover (helmet).

§ Must meet or exceed safety standards of the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

§ Clearly labeled by the manufacturer as satisfying such standards (original sticker in place).

Overview of Competition Penalties

§ Helmet must be buckled when touching bike (:10).

§ Riding bike in Transition (Mount/Dismount) (:10).

§ Must follow prescribed course / correct lap count (:10/DSQ)

§ Behaving in an unsportsmanlike way. (DSQ)§ Swearing§ Violence

§ Athletes overtaken/passed by the first place athlete on the bike will be lapped out.

§ Official will show the athlete a red card and say “Athlete “#” you are overtaken/lapped out.”

§ Athletes must move to the side of the road and stop.

§ Athletes must walk bike back to Transition off the course/on the sidewalk and not interfere with the race.

§ Lapped athletes are disqualified from the race.

§ Disqualification cannotbe appealed.

§ Penalty Box located on the road approx. 200m before Finish Line on right hand side of the road.

§ Race number and penalty code will be written on white board at Penalty Box.

Serving Your Penalty§ Procedure:

§ Identify yourself;

§ Official will start timing penalty;§ Must remain in Penalty Box entire time;

§ May not receive any outside assistance while serving penalty;

§ Official will let you know when your time is served.

Penalties not served will result in disqualification.

Check the Penalty Board.

Protest or Appeal:Protest:

§ Athlete may file a Protest with Lead Official provided it has not been previously observed and ruled upon by Officials.

§ Protest is filed against the conduct of an athlete, an athlete’s equipment, an Official, or the conditions of the competition.

Appeal:

§ An Appeal is a request for review of a decision made by Officials or the Competition Jury.

Protest or Appeal:Generally, Protests or Appeals must follow these steps:

1. Notify Lead Official of intent to submit an Appeal within 5 minutes of finish time.

2. Lead Official will provide appropriate form for athlete to complete.

3. The completed Appeal form must be submitted to Lead Official no more than 15 minutes after the athlete’s finish time. A deposit of $50 USD must accompany the Protest or Appeal form.

Protest or Appeal:§ Protests or Appeals are reviewed by the Lead Official

and the Competition Jury.

§ All decisions on Appeals are final.
