Objective

• To improve effectiveness of multimedia delivery platform for the elderly

• The elderly can use tablet PC to send multimedia to family members and friends easily

• Use tablet PC to control the application on the smart TV instead of using remote control

Literature ReviewsH. Nicolau and J. Jorge examine text-entry performance and typing patterns of elderly users on touch-based devices such as mobile phone and Tablet PC• Typing error rate of mobile phone is more than Tablet PC• Mobile phone has an error rate of 25.97%• Tablet PC has an error rate of 16.55%

Literature Reviews• Alaoui et al. proposed an interactive social television system by using

user centered design (UCD) that could identify, classify and model elderly needs

• There are 4 activities, including watching TV, playing game, staying in touch, and participating in clubs

System’s Characteristics

• The multimedia information is sent by elderly people from tablet PC to destination devices. Multimedia contents could be texts, pictures, videos, or audios

• The elderly can control the cursor of the smart TV application, by using the tablet PC remote application

• The multimedia information is stored on the server, and usage logs are stored in the database

Conclusion

• We propose a conceptual model of the user interface of a multimedia delivery platform for the elderly via smart TV and tablet PC

• The integrated system would be able to provide a truly two-way communication of sending and receiving multimedia between the elderly and their friends and family members
