USING GENXCHANGE on MTB RIF TEST

1. Laboratory Configuration

On the Desktop the Setup.jar is a window allowing configuring new laboratory, this is a first option to setup your laboratory

-Country, province, city/town, zip refer to Genexpert location

-Laboratory Name: the Name of the Laboratory where the Genexpert machine is located

-ID Laboratory : This is a Short Identification code for each Lab machines to the System , a country manager can apply a large amount of code to differently identify Labs , it better this ID to be composed with 2 or 3 Letter + an Incremented Number for example: SK1, SK2,… MOZ1, MOZ2… BRU1, BRU2,…

-Additional Information to be reported for each test : options checked at this level will be collected for each genexpert tests , these data are depending on a project or Country TB program need to report for each patients exams. For example; you can need to collect or not: patient names, patient Age, patient Gender …

-Server Access Technology: this Option allows specifying the technology will be used to report Data to the server, there two selections:

· Internet version: you’ll be requested to enter the URL of the server, if you are using the UCL server, the URL to enter is: sites.uclouvain.be/genxchange.

If you have an own country server in which the Genxchange server package is installed you can enter the URL of your server at this field

*The modem port allows sending results through SMS message to prescriber who’s referred the patient sample to MTB Rif exams

Note: if the Modem port is Blank , no SMS will be sent to the prescriber, this port allow to forward data through to the modem

Tip to Detect the connected Modem Port :

To specify you modem port ,go to Control Panel -> Phone and Modem ->Modems

You’ll find your modem under list and the port attached to

2. Using GenXchange components

· STARTING XPERT SMS

When the computer starts Xpertsms popup appears automaticaly, the user have to click on start push-boutton which is going to generate some texts on the right pannel .This operation allow to establish communication to genxpert DX

then the user can minimize the popup windows before starting the DX software

Note : if xpertsms is not started data will not be capture from genepert DX

· CREATING A TEST ON DX

On the create test windows on DX user only need to specify the SampleID and proceed as usual by scnaning barcode then strating the test

· OPENING GENXCHANGE MENU

At the end of the Test started on DX software where the user entered a Sample ID, user id must click to open the GenXchange icon on the Desktop .This action retrieves all MTB Results uploaded and show a popup windows of results, others results are keeping on task bar menu.

· If GX Result is MTB NOT DETECTED:

· If GX Result is MTB DETECTED:

· If GX Result is ERROR OR INVALID:

1. FILLING THE MAIN MENU FORM

· SELECT or ADD a New Prescriber :

The user can choose from list the registered prescriber who referred the sample for Genexpert Test.

In case he wants to add a new one he can click on Add push-button

A new window appears with fields to complete for identifying the prescriber: Country and Province are loaded automatically as they are on configuration file,

After the identification Window is completed, the user can click to push-button Save to add the new prescriber into local data base then sent information to the remote Server database using SMS technology or Internet.

The User can choose now the new prescriber under the choice list.

When a Prescriber is selected his Telephone number and email appear on fields beside with a push-button Modify

· MODIFY or REMOVE an existing Prescriber

By clicking to the Modify button on the prescriber fields the identification Window appear with information on the prescriber to Modify or remove

There user can change prescriber’s information and click on Modify button to apply the modification or Remove button to delete him in local database.

· SELECT or ADD a Genexpert OPERATOR:

Some time the operator who did the Gx Test on DX is not the one validate it, this why it’s require to identify him on each MTB results.

Operators are listed under choice list on the GenXchange V2 main menu.

In case the user wants to add a new operator he can click on Add push-button beside le choice list

This Shows a Windows containing fields to identify a new operator

After completed, the user can click to push-button Save to add the new Genexpert operator into local database.

· MODIFY or REMOVE an existing Operator

When an Operator is selected the Add button turns into Modify button beside the choice list field allowing the user to modify or remove him.

By clicking to the Modify push-button information of the selected operator a new Window lunching with operator details appears.

· SELECT the Sample Type :

Sample types listed on a choice list refer to the Region where the sputum has been taken from the Patient

· PATIENT IDENTIFICATION

Among information to identify the Patient are: First Name, Last Name, Gender, Date of Birth, City, Patient’s address, patient phone.

In the case that the Age of the patient is known, the User can click on the Age button beside the DOB field, then the DOB fields are replaced by the AGE Typing field

· History of TB treatment

When selected a Specific History of TB treatment under Setup windows, the default purpose selected is: History of TB treatment (Yes/No/Unknown)

If History of TB treatment (OMS classification) was selected then the list below will be generated

· OTHER INFORMATION

Depending on each country or Research projects, on this part can be provided other Diseases acquiring to the patient such as HIV status, diabetes…

2. SENDING DATA TO SERVER

· Using INTERNET to Access the remote server:

When Submitting data, the Send push button changes into Shadow to inform actions ongoing “user need to wait until the windows disappears itself”

· If there is No Internet available a Message Box appears

· If there Internet is available data are sent to The server ,there’s a confirmation message

After DATA are sent to the Remote server GenXchange connects to the Modem via Port selected on Setup Windows and tries to send SMS to the prescriber

-If the Modem is not well connected following Message will appear

-If Network is not available the Message Box showing SMS unavailability appears

-If there no Airtime in the Modem the above message Appear

NOTE : In case Network is unavailable or There no Airtime to send SMS are keep storing in queue into the local database and will send at the next Submission , this to avoid user reenter several time same formations.

-If Modem is connected, airtime is sufficient, Network is available, then an confirmation SMS is pumped, saying “Message sent to prescriber successfully”
