An alternative to SafeAssign• SafeAssign was deemed to be unstable during

last Nov / Dec. Many institutes in Singapore and overseas are affected.

• Too many paper submissions and cause server slowness. Paper received very late SA report or no report after several days

• NIE BB team source for more reliable and stable system.

An alternative to SafeAssign

• Turnitin is the equivalent and most commonly use product besides SafeAssign.

• SafeAssign is free, Turnitin is paid service. Both server hosted in US.

• Turnitin offers bigger database compare to SafeAssign, most publishers subscribe to it.

Content Comparision

• Web Crawler scans and indexes new and existing content from the Web in the Turnitin database

• The submission is compared to millions of books/publications; over 14 billion web pages; and 150 million student papers

• Results are returned in seconds, showing matches of the student paper

Advantage • check against wide range of publications• allow multiple attempts for student to submit assignment• originality report is more user-friendly and comprehensive•student receive confirmation email after submission
