1.0 Introduction to USMinfo
MyUSMinfo is a platform to serve as a one-stop centre for information to future and
present USMers by facilitating information sharing among USM students.
USM with the aids from students have make information transfer a success one. A
Facebook group – USM Info Sharing Corner started its objective to facilitate
information sharing among USM students since 2010. Increasing number of students
meaning the increase effectiveness of information dissemination of information
regarding events, lectures / tutorials adjustments, latest announcements from USM
administrative and everything else that has to do with Universiti Sains Malaysia.
Lately, it has become a trend and let’s be a part of the group and start reading the
page to stay updated.
The creator of USM Info Sharing Corner then started MyUSMinfo in July 2013. Then
coming with USMinfo as an informative page in Facebook, email, WeChat and
Twitter. USM Info Sharing Corner and MyUSMinfo operating together to share
information, complementing each other. Students or visitors to MyUSMinfo will be
able to find information with much ease. Owing to that, MyUSMinfo is able to garner
around 78k visits and 150k page views in just one year!
Serving as a one-stop centre for information in USM, MyUSMinfo features not only
the latest news or happenings in USM, but also upcoming events. Accommodation
problem before registration can be solved. MyUSMinfo provides you with the
contact and details of the accommodation, saving you the trouble to google all of
them.
All the troubles faced by present student, incoming students, event organizer, parent
of USM students, lecturer or just anyone who wants to know more about USM can be
solved by USM Info Sharing Corner and MyUSMinfo.

2.0 What need to do before enter USM?
2.1 Application for PTPTN Loan
a. Pin Number Applicants are required to obtain a pin number at a cost of RM 5.06 from BSN to apply for the PTPTN loan online.
b. Online Application
Log in www.ptptn.gov.my/gateway/ to apply PTPTN loan. Before this, applicants need to have their SSPN account and Bank Islam bank account (Bank Islam is USM’s panel bank). The opening of a SSPN account is encouraged to be done through Maybank, Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad, Agrobank, Bank Rakyat and RHB Bank to expedite the process.
c. While Waiting for Approval and Prepare Important Documents (Dokumen Sokongan)
Copy of the recipient's identity card. Photocopy of the front and back of the card to appear on the same page.
Copy of the recipient’s parents identity card.
Copy of Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM / SPMV).
Copy of birth certificate.
Copy of letter of admission offer into a higher education institute.
Copy of account passbook (page with the account number displayed) / bank deposit slip of Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad (BIMB)
Copy of examination transcript and other admission qualification certificates. Example: STPM / diploma / matriculation / bachelor / master.
Copy of salary slip / income tax return (individual) / retiree card/ pension statement / income verification letter / letter of confirmation of unemployment – FIRST GUARDIAN (1) and SECOND GUARDIAN (2).
Application Information to be printed by clicking on the PRINT INFORMATION button in the Online Application Website after registration.

d. After Online Application is Successful Applicant will be informed if application is approved via email notification. Applicants are advised to print out following documents:-

Surat Kebenaran 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 (mengikut yang berkenaan)
Dokumen Perjanjian Pembiayaan Pendidikan

e. Submit Up Documents University authority will make arrangements for the PTPTN officers to collect the hardcopies of the applications & the required documents from successful applicants. Announcements on Sesi Serahan dan Penerimaan Dokumen Perjanjian will be made. This is the only time that applicants can make sure whether they get the loan from PTPTN or not.
f. Requirement for PTPTN Loan There are changes in the requirement for PTPTN loan. This affects the amount of loan the applicant can get according to the household income.
Condition Maximum loan
Household with BR1M list Full loan
Household income < RM 8,000 to RM 4,000 75% loan
Household income > RM 8,000 50% loan
PTPTN now state that the BR1M aid receiver’s children will be able to get a full PTPTN loan. For the applicants with household income less than RM 8,000 only can get a 75% loan while for applicants with household income more than RM 8,000 and above are only eligible to get a 50% loan. Note
Students that get WPP offer does not means that he/ she will confirm get the offer of PTPTN. The money is just for the students to clear their study fees before the registration day and not a confirmation that the students will surely get the offer from PTPTN for the whole study year.
Applicants that cashed WPP’s cheque, your account will be deducted RM 500 for the first 3 semester.
All documents that send to PTPTN must be printed in 80 grams A4 size paper.
Please photocopy 2 sets of the documents and to be submitted to PTPTN officer.

2.3 Medical Check-Up
USM Main Campus
Students are required to do their medical check-up in Pusat Sejahtera, Universiti
Sains Malaysia, Pulau Pinang ONLY. Students can do their medical check-up upon
registration in USM main campus.
USM Engineering Campus
Engineering campus students have to do their chest x-ray in any hospital or clinics
that recognized under Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia with Lampiran B. Students
can do their medical check-up upon registration in USM engineering campus.
USM Health Campus
Health campus students have to do their medical check-up and chest x-ray in any
hospital or clinics that recognized under Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia with
Lampiran B. Students in Health Campus need to acquire parents’ permission for
testing HIV, Hepatitis B & C with the lampiran B1.
2.4 Information of Students
Students are required to prepare a copy of the IC front and back with stated course
offered on the letter. Please send your letter before 31 August 2015 to:

2.5 Ways of Payment
Students are encouraged to pay their fees when they receive the offer or before
the registration day in Universiti Sains Malaysia. The copy of the receipt or payment
of transaction does not need to show on the first day of registration, it is just a save
copy for the students itself.
a. The payment can be made by CASH in Bank Islam (M) Berhad at any
branches in Malaysia. Students have to fill in their details in the payment
slip before they pay for the fees. Remember to keep their payment bill as
a proof for Universiti Sains Malaysia.
b. The payment can be made by ONLINE (cash transfer or credit card) through
ePayment@USM. For further information, please go through the prepared
payment system or the website of Jabatan Bendahari Universiti Sains
Malaysia. Remember to keep a copy of the transaction as a proof of
payment.
Note:
* Students are NOT encouraged to bring a large amount of cash during the
orientation week.

4.3 Banks, ATM & CDM If you are visiting or studying in Universiti Sains Malaysia, you are not required to bring too much of cash with you.
