“Empowering the Youth towards togetherness.”

• Our mission is to develop Jain youth with active and creative minds, instigating a sense of

understanding, compassion for others, with courage to act on their beliefs.

• We stress on total development of youth spiritually, morally, intellectually, socially,

emotionally & physically.

• All of you, as parents, know that it is important for children to not only do well in academics

but also explore extra-curricular activities like painting, singing, dancing, theatre, sports and

many other activities. At JAY-HO, we believe that one of their many talents could do

wonders for them, if recognized and encouraged at the right time.

• That's why JAY-HO presents a united talent program - A collection of initiatives aimed at

discovering your child's hidden talent and all-round potential early enough to maximize it.

The program focuses on partnering you in this journey to nurture your children's abilities and

securing their future.

• With a line-up of events throughout the year created & managed by JAY-HO it will be

displayed at right places, seen by the right people so that your child’s talent will not only be

appreciated but also be groomed and sharpened for a brighter future

JAY-HO is an Organisation for the Youth - By the Youth. A step towards achieving unity amongst

all the fellow Jains, irrespective of them being from any “VILLAGE”, “LANGUAGE” or “SECT”.

For us anyone who is JAIN and who is Young (at age or mind) is our member. Today’s Jain youth

is somehow not aware of what is happening around him in Jain Community the main reason not

reading the Jain Publications the reasons for the same are

1.) Language: Since they are published in Gujarati and most English reading youth don’t read it

2.) Content: Most of the youth feel the content in Jain Publications are just too Community Based, Jain

Organisation related or Death news which youth feel aloof from

3.) Appearance: the appearances of such publications are too dull and boring which does not create interest

in youth readers

Keeping all these points in our mind we have designed UTH-N-YNG a youth magazine specially for Jain

Youth with a lot of Information about Jains along with different flavors for youth.

IDEAS OF SMART

INVESTING

We all work hard, make money and we save a part of this money for our future needs. Most people usually put this extra fund either in Savings Bank account or as a Fixed deposit or as a Recurring Deposit. Some people use Chit funds for saving money. Saving money is always good but it’s difficult to call this as an investment. Why you should Invest ?

Inflation is the prime reason! The value of money decreases each moment because of inflation. At present inflation rate in India is around 6%, that means your money is decreasing in value. If you have Rs.100 in your pocket now and you keep it in your pocket as such for 1 year, at the end of year, the 100 rupee note in your pocket will be of value 94 only. You got it ? So instead of saving 100 rupees you lost a part of it and now you have only 94. This is why you should invest your money. Bank Deposits:

Bank deposits are good, you always need to have a decent amount in banks as savings because it’s risk free, offers liquidity and is safe. Bank deposits are better than nothing. A fixed deposit scheme now offers around 7.5% interest

per annum, so this will help you to beat inflation and also get an additional 1.5% valuation on your money every year. On the other hand Savings Bank deposits which offer only 3.5% per annum fails to beat inflation (which is at 6% now), thus results in a net devaluation of 2.5% on your money every year. Yet it’s better than keeping in rackets of your almirah. Why you should invest in Stocks ?

Simple! Stock offers you better returns. All rich people in this world, any one from Warren Buffet, Mukesh Ambani, Rakesh Jhunjunwala, Sunil Mittal, N.R Narayanmurthy, Asim Premji, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs have become super rich (extremely wealthy) because they own and hold stocks of one or more company. Stocks can make you go from thousands to millions but at the same time with risk of loosing that thousands you invested(:)). Got panic? Don’t worry, we can always calculate the risks involved and avoid too risky stocks. I am a supporter of Value Investing philosophy and methods. Stock market is not a place to make quick money or to earn your daily bread. I am not saying you can make quick money from stock market, obviously you can, there are many people who had done that, but it carries a higher risk. You may gain everything or you may loose everything if you try to get rich quick in a stock market. On the other hand value investing offers less risk (most cases calculated risk), offer better value and multiple returns. Let’s take a look at value investing. Note: Investing in a stock means you are buying ownership of that company. Eg: If you invest 10000 rupees and buy 100 shares of Reliance Industries, you become one of many owners of that company. You hold ownership in Reliance Industries worth Rs.10000 or you hold 100 shares of ownership in Reliance.

What is value investing ?

On simple terms it’s about investing in the value of a company. Every company has a balance sheet which depicts a clear cut data about it’s performance, valuation, growth potential and future of the company (not exactly always, we can infer it from balance sheet). Based on our assessment of Financial Balance sheet, we can calculate the value of a company (intrinsic value is the term used by financial analysts), say Rs.xyz, now if the company is traded in the stock market at a price less than our calculated intrinsic value (Rs.xyz), a value investor will buy that stock and keep it in hand (hold) for long term say some 3 or 4 years (that depends on investors logic and his needs). After say some 4 or 5 years, if his judgement was right, the company valuation will increase and it will be traded at a higher price in the stock market, say 3 or 4 times Rs.xyz, now if he sells all his stock, he will make 3 to 4 times return on his money (that he invested 4 years back).

Top 10 Positive Things

about Diabetes

Diabetes is not all

gloom and doom.

There are some

positive things

about Diabetes.

Knowing those

helps

One cope better.

Obviously there are

many health related positives like weight loss, regular

diet, but there is more to it than just health. Let's look

at some key takeaways about Diabetes.

Diabetes can benefit all including you, your family and

your community or a social circle.

Top 10 positive things about Diabetes:-

1) Dietary habits get disciplined: - It's not in human

nature to control the desire to eat favorite junk foods.

Diabetes forces this discipline upon you. Although

reluctantly, everyone will accept that its a good habit

and they always felt the need for it.

2) Weight loss:- As a

Diabetic,1st advice

you will get from all is

to control your sugar

levels. And 2nd is to

lose weight. It's a

major benefit

considering the positives it brings to your health

profile. It reduces risk of acquiring other major

illnesses. Overall fitness level too goes up.

3) Special food demands:- There is a palpable change

in food habits after Diabetes. You get more say

in the daily diet plan and it is often cooked after

consulting you. Hence the prospects of getting your

favourites improve.

4) Improved cooking skills:- Diabetes imposes several

restrictions on many daily food items. Hence,

it forces the homemaker to think out of the box,

innovate. They later go on to make some great new

recipes that are healthier and more delicious. One

would get to taste those recipes otherwise.

5) Family health improves:- While you get more say in

daily diet, your prescribed food is served to the

entire family. Diabetic diet being lighter and healthier

benefits everybody. As the awareness about Diabetes

increases, other members too adopt healthier

lifestyles.

6) Regular health check-ups:- Health when normal is

the most neglected part of life. Few people really

appreciate their good

health. Most take it for

granted. They realize its

value only when

something goes wrong.

This along with high

expenses keeps most

away from regular health

check-ups. After Diabetes, the frequency of health

visits increase. This helps in early diagnosis and proper

treatment of other disorders.

7) Fear of needles decreases:

- Diabetics (especially those

with type I) are forced to take

Subcutaneous

Insulin injections multiple

times daily. Frequent blood

glucose testing also involves needle pricks. Initially it’s

a big hassle. Everyone hates it but after a few days

people get accustomed to it. Thereafter their fear

about needle pricks and injections decreases

substantially.

8) Helps understand people:-

Diabetes, these days is one of the

best conversation starters. It gets

people going. Diabetics get a point

to make while Non-Diabetics find it

intriguing. It piques their interest

to know how you are managing it.

These conversations later turn into

friendly chat and thus the social circle expands.

9) Become motivated in life:- Adversity always brings

the best out of people. Thoughts about Diabetes

cripple people at first. Later people learn about it.

They accept it as a challenge and get motivated to

deal with it.

10) Promotes Social Harmony:- In daily life, normal

health brings many advantages that people take it for

granted. After people get diagnosed with diabetes,

they feel humbled. Their attitude towards the

disabled, handicapped and not so lucky ones change.

Their sensitivity towards social issues increases.

They become more empathetic and develop an urge

to do more.

Guidelines to Help You

with weight Loss

Sometimes it is very hard to lose weight because it

just seems like a losing battle. As with everything

worthwhile, it is just a question of getting motivated

and then planning what you will do to lose those

pounds. Here you will find some points to help you do

this.

Your first step is to motivate yourself. It is easy to

dream but with something like weight loss you need

to get active and start doing. One of the best ways to

motivate you is to look in the mirror and realize that

yes you are fat and need to do something about it

today. This is sometimes hard to do but once you face

up to the fact you can get yourself motivated and

start to take action.

For a woman buying a nice outfit that is one size

smaller can also motivate you. You know that you will

have to lose some weight to get into the outfit. It will

be like a reward when you lose enough to fit into the

outfit.

Friends and family can help you to get motivated.

Forums are sometimes good for support and

motivation as you will find people with the same

problem there. They often have some useful tips to

help you with losing weight.

A food journal can also

help you to stay

motivated as you will be

accountable for your

progress. You can record

the foods you have eaten

and what progress you

have made. It will help

you to see what foods are

effective in losing weight

and which ones to avoid. When you see your progress

you will feel more motivated and understand that you

are working towards your goals.

You should get a calorie counter and see how many

calories you are burning with your exercises. This will

help you to do the most effective exercises and help

you to stay motivated. Once you see the calories you

have burnt you can calculate how many calories you

should be taking in.

Planning is an important part of losing weight. You

should make a plan and write it down. This will keep

you on track and help you to lose weight. It is like

going on a journey and not taking something to guide

you as to which road you should be taking.

You should create goals and reward yourself when

you achieve them. Do not use food as a reward or you

may find yourself slipping. You can make your

progress and achievement of goals part of your food

diary. Try not to lose weight too quickly as this is not

good for your body and you can find the weight

coming back. 10 pounds a month is the right ratio to

aim for.

Exercise and

healthy eating go

hand in hand when

it comes to weight

loss. So remember

to exercise on a

daily basis and eat

healthy food. You

should try to eat 6

small meals per

day instead of 3 big ones to make sure that your

metabolism increases. Eat plenty of fiber as this will

keep you from feeling hungry.

Try to eliminate junk food.

So, you want to make your own candles? Candle making is a popular hobby today. If you

have the proper equipment and tools, it's quite easy and far less expensive than

purchasing candles from a candle, party or department store.

Essential Equipment and Tools

Melting System. Never use a microwave oven or direct heat to melt candle wax. The best

and safest method, especially for a beginner, is to use a double boiler or a Presto Kitchen

Kettle. Heres how to melt candle wax in a double boiler:

• Fill the bottom pot of the double boiler 2/3 full of water.

• Grate wax with an old cheese grater and place in the top pot.

• Boil the water and allow the wax to melt.

• Never leave a double boiler unattended when melting wax. Water evaporates quickly

when boiling and the wax then becomes a fire hazard.

The best and safest method for melting candle wax is with a Presto Kitchen Kettle. These are available at most major departments stores and are thermostat controlled. This method prevents wax from becoming overheated. Scales. Kitchen scales are great for measuring candle wax and other ingredients. Thermometer. You'll need a thermometer to test the temperature of the melting candle wax. The thermometer should measure heat between 100 and 350 degrees Fahrenheit. A candy thermometer works well. Ladle. A stainless steel ladle is perfect for removing hot candle wax from the melting system. Pouring cup. An old glass measuring cup is perfect to use to pour melted candle wax into the molds.

Wax. Use quality paraffin wax for best results when making candles. Do not use canning

wax. Paraffin wax can be purchased at most craft stores. Wicks. Wicks are available in a wide range of materials and sizes. The best wicks for candle making are braided cotton wicks that have been specially treated for quality burning. This type of wick gives your candle many more hours of burning life. Quality wicks can be purchased at most craft stores and they also come in candle making kits. Dye. Dye comes in every hue of the rainbow. Only a small amount of dye has to be added for light colored candles. If you wish candles to be a darker color, add more dye. You can use dye to make candles that match your décor perfectly. Never use crayons to color wax, as this type of wax will clog the wick. Candle dye is inexpensive and can be purchased at most craft and department stores that handle candle making supplies. Molds. Candle molds are what determine the shape of your candles. They come in a variety of materials, shapes and sizes. Plastic candle molds are the least expensive but cannot tolerate wax that's been heated to more than 180 degrees Fahrenheit. Metal molds are expensive but last for years. They're sturdy and durable and can tolerate high wax temperatures. Most craft and candle supply stores carry a variety of candle molds, including novelty molds. You can also use household items, such as flower pots, baby food jars, coffee jars milk cartons and novelty jars. Use your imagination to find molds right in your own home. Mold seal. Mold seal holds the wick in place when making pillar candles. This prevents the wax from escaping around the wick. If mold seal isn't available, use plumber's putty around the wick to keep melted wax from escaping. Blow dryer. A blow dryer or heat gun can assist you in covering surface imperfections. They can also be used to preheat metal molds before pouring the wax. This gives the finished candle a glossy finish. A blow dryer is great for ridding gel candles of bubbles. Once you have assembled all of the necessary candle making equipment and tools, melt the wax, set the wick and pour your first candle. The results will amaze you. Once you have perfected your candle making method, you will be able to make candles for every special occasion and holiday.
