MESSAGEWELCOME TO UTS LIBRARY!

UTS Library connects people, knowledge, technology and culture. Our people are committed to fulfilling the Library’s role as a centre for innovation, collaboration and the advancement of education and research. We provide high quality information resources, services and facilities through our physical spaces, the Library website and the Library Retrieval System (LRS).

The LRS is a state-of-the-art storage and retrieval system that allows for the sustainable growth of our Library Collection well into the future and for more space in the Library to be devoted to our Library users. The 450,000 low-use items currently stored in the LRS remain on-site and are accessible via regular deliveries to the Library.

your curriculum. The Library provides an extensive program of workshops and classes throughout the year to help students and researchers develop vital research and study skills. As well as providing face-to-face training, we are continually developing our online offerings with modules to provide assistance to you in your own time.

We want UTS Library to be an inspiring and welcoming space that encourages curiosity and creativity. While quiet study is a central aspect of learning and research, active exploration and discovery are also crucial in developing new knowledge. We highlight the diverse range of learning and research at UTS through exhibitions and displays showcasing work by UTS staff and students. Our annual Artist-in-Residence program invites selected creative arts practitioners to playfully respond to the evolving role of the library.

We hope these initiatives, and other events we have planned, will encourage you to explore and discover. Our collections, services and spaces should assist you to study, research and create, giving you the competitive edge you need to succeed.

We’ve made a number of enhancements to our Library Catalogue to make it even easier to discover, select and request items. I encourage you to try features like Shelf View, which allows you to browse a virtual bookshelf, and our unique Collection Ribbon, which lets you refine your search or browse an entire subject area.

UTS Library provides a range of unique learning spaces that encourage curiosity and focus, as well as support our new program of digital and information literacy training. We acknowledge that everybody learns and conducts research in different ways, and provide a mix of spaces to support the diverse needs of the UTS community. We’ve developed a range of new and improved spaces to support collaborative and creative learning, including an Editing Studio, a Games Room, Assistive Technologies rooms and a Researchers’ Centre and meeting room for postgraduate research students and staff.

Our study spaces are complemented by the services and support provided by our expert staff. We work closely with the faculties to ensure that we have the resources to support your learning and embed digital literacy training in
