UZI CARBINE .22 LR CONVERSION KIT MANUAL

THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS WILL APPLY TO THE .22 LR CALIBER CONVER- SION FOR THE UZI SEMI-AUTOMATIC CARBINE. PLEASE READ INSTRUCTION MANUAL FOR YOUR UZI CARBINE BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO USE YOUR .22 LR CONVERSION KIT OR TO DISASSEM- BLE YOUR UZI CARBINE.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS Make sure that the carbine is unloaded before: - Receiving or handing over a carbine.

- Transporting the carbine. - Cleaning or disassembly.

Always remove the magazine immediately after firing and make sure that the chamber is empty. Make sure that the fire selector (safety catch) is on "S" (Safe) position to guarantee that the carbine is safe whenever: - Inserting magazine. - You have stopped firing it.

- The carbine is being transported or moved.

- The carbine is not in use.

When handling the carbine: - Never point it at a person. - Always make sure that the barrel points

in a safe direction. - Ahvays assume that the carbine is

loaded.

Neverloada carbine until you are ready to use it. Practice handling the carbine empty before attempting to fire (The UZ1 may be dry fired without harm to the carbine).

Whenever the shod (display) barrel is installed: - Never insert a loaded magazine. - Never attempt to fire the carbine.

Before shooting the carbine: - Always wear eye and ear protection. - Always be sure of target backstop and

what lies beyond if.

Use only dean, dry, original high qual2y currently commercially manufactured .22 LR High Velocity ammunition in good condition. Standad velocity ammunition should not be used.

Never handle ammunition with oily fingers.

The UZI Semi-Automatic Carbine can be fired under some circumstances with the bolt

open or partly open, by pulling the trigger. Therefore, user should be careful to keep fingers clear of the trigger whenever: - Extracting a live round from the chamber. - Checking an obstruction lodged in the

chamber.

- Looking into the ejection pod area. - Opening or closing the bolt whenever

there is a round in the chamber or magazine.

Make sure that the barrel is fully seated before firing.

REMEM8ER:ALWAYS ASSUME THAT THE CARBINE IS LOADED: LOOKING INTO THE END OF THE BARREL (MUZZLE) IS NOT RECOMMENDED AT ANY TIME.

STRIPPING -See instruction manual

I. DISASSEMBLY Rememberr Ensure that your UZI Carbine is unloaded. Make sure that the magazine is removed from your Carbine.

REMOVING THE BARREL -(See instruction manual)

1. Depress barrel retaining nut catch (fig. 1) 2. Unscrew barrel retaining nut counter-

clockwise (looking from the front). 3. Pull out barrel.

1. Hold down receiver cover. 2. Push cover catch to the rear (fig.3) 3. Remove cover by lifting upward and

rearward (fig. 4)

REMOVING THE BOLT AND STRIKER ASSEMBLY -(See instruction manual)

1. Lift the bolt up about 1 ", press backward %"

and lift bolt and striker assembly out and forward (fig. 5).

2. Remove the striker assembly by pulling rearward. Note: Do not remove the spring attached to the striker assembly.

3. Remove bolt return spring assembly.

FIELD STRIPPING IS NOW COMPLETE AND YOU ARE READY TO CHANGE

II. ASSEMBLY Make sure barrel is completely removed before inserting conversion kit.

1. Insert entire bolt and striker assembly unit by lowering rear portion into receiver and sliding back towards buffer.

2. When assembly unit is fully rearward lower

I front portion into receiver until fully seated.

ASSEMBLING RECEIVER COVER -(See instruction manual)

1. lnsert front end of cover (narrow end) in recess under front sight (fig. 8).

2. Lower rear end of cover until it rests on top of the latch.

3. Firmly press rear end of cover until catch snaps into place.

4. Check that catch is fully forward.

INSTALLING THE BARREL -(See instruction manual)

MAKE SURE TO INSERT CORRECT CAMBER BARREL (TO MATCH BOLT) BEFORE PROCEEDING. 1. lnsert barrel into place. Make sure that the

FLATS on the barrel line up with the FLATS on the barrel housing protrusion (fig. 2).

2. Depress barrel retaining nut catch. 3. Hand tighten barrel retaining nut catch until

fully seated. 4. Release catch. 5. Hand tighten again to insure that nut is

fully seated. YOU ARE NOW READY TO LOAD YOUR UZI CARBINE.

LOADING THE UZI- INSERTING THE MAGAZINE -(See instruction manual)

BE SURE TO LOAD AND INSERTTHE CORRECT CALIBER MAGAZINE (TO MATCH THE BOLT AND BARREL) BEFORE PROCEEDING.

WARNING: Do not insert a loaded magazine when short (display) barrel is installed.

To put your UZI Carbine back to its original caliber, see instruction manual under "ASSEMBLY".

Ill. DISASSEMBLY AND ASSEMBLY OF BOLT AND STRIKER ASSEMBLY UNIT 1. Lmsen top screw enough to allow

bdt and striker to slide forward. 2. To tear down further, remove front

and rear screws of the assembly to separate the two halves and free the return spring assembly and ejector by the rear screw.

Note: Disassembly of the bolt and magazine is not recommended.

b 3. To assemble, align return spring

1 return spring. Hold bolt backenough to allow tightening of the top screw

1 until seated.

NOTE: Your conversion kit will func- tion more smoothly when only 19

I rounds are loaded in the 20-round magazine.
