WILLIAM BROOKS ; charged at Eoebourne, on the 27th April, by P.C. Jacques, with interfering with the Police while in the execution of their duty. Fined £1 or 14 days.

JOHN LYONS; charged at Bunbury, on the 20th ult., by W. P. Clifton, with failing to comply with an order of court, made for the maintenance of his daughter Alice Lyons. Discharged upon payment of £2 2s., the sum then due under the order.

The Sisters of Mercy at Fremant le Convent report that, on the morning of the 28th ult . , at about 6'30 a.m., they found a man in the dining room at the convent. He appeared to be a young man, smooth face, about Sft. 6in. high, no description of dress could be given ; entrance was effected through one of the windows at the back of the bouse. From inquiries made by Fremantle Police, James Mann is strongly suspected.

Special Inquiry. On the 2nd inst., a man was found dead about 10

mile.s from New Norcia, Victoria Plains, on Perth road. It appears that the deceased set fire to the butt of a standing dead tree and fell asleep ; the tree burnt through and fell on bis head, apparently killing him instantly. Description, middling stout, age 65 or 70 years, Sft. 6 or 7in. high, black hair turning grey, grey eyes, very grey whiskers cut short all round his face, square visage, fvdl face, dressed in white moleskin jacket, vest, and trowsers, white flannel shirt with red stripe down it, blue worsted -socks, lace up boots, black soft felt hat, clothing very clean and looked very much like Depot or Invalid clothing ; the only other property he had was a narrow leather belt, pannican, and knife. This man is supposed to be William Kelshaw or Coulston from Invalid Depot, Perth, Central District. Police to make inquiry and / report to Detective Ofiice, Perth.

On the 25th ult., from the person of Edward McGuire at G. Baston's Hotel, Geraldton,—6 £1 Bank notes, two sovereigns and one half-sovereign. Prank Pallon, exp., late 10176, committed this rohbery, and is now in custody under former charge. Property recovered.—C.I. 245.

The man found dead 10 miles from New Norcia, Victoria Plains, has been identified as William Kelison, exp., late 294, alias William Kershaw, who, was an inmate of the Mount Eliza Invalid Depot up to 25th May, 1881.
