    [57] Abstract:

The inventive extraction/separation method involves the step of contacting an organic phase containing a dialkyldiglycol amic acid extractant: R

    1R

2NCOCH2OCH2COOH with an aqueous solution containing scandium and

zirconium and/or hafnium for thereby extracting zirconium and/or hafnium into the organic phase. The purity of scandium can be efficiently increased by the simple step of solvent extraction.

    [57] Abstract:

Problem To provide an intake device for an internal combustion engine including a partition wall for dividing an intake port composing an intake passage into two intake ports, and configured such that an extent of thermal expansion of the partition wall is suppressed, so that the partition wall is formed into a preferable shape, and accuracy of the intake passage of the intake ports is improved, so that combustion efficiency of the internal combustion engine is improved. Solution An intake device for an internal combustion engine includes: an intake port 41; an intake port partition wall 71 with the intake port 41 casted into a cylinder head 13; an intake passage member 50; and a fastening part 33 that fastens the intake passage member 50 to the vicinity of an opening surface of the intake port 41 formed in the cylinder head 13. In the intake device for the internal combustion engine, the fastening part 33 is formed with a recessed part 33c recessed, a bottom surface 33d of the recessed part 33c is formed of an intake port opening surface 41e and intake port opening end surfaces 33e of the cylinder head 13, an upstream end surface 71a of the intake port partition wall 71 on the upstream side is formed to be flush with the intake port opening surface 41e, a side of the intake passage member 50 to be connected to the intake port 41 is formed with a projecting part 52a projecting from a base end surface 52c of the end 52, and the recessed part 33c and the projecting part 52d are fitted to each other.

    [51] International Class 8: B 23K 9/00

    [57] Abstract:

The present invention provides a butt weld structure and a butt welding method for an extra thick steel plate that make it possible to butt weld an extra thick steel plate having a plate thickness that exceeds 70 mm, secure the tensile strength of butt weld joints, suppress or prevent joint toughness from deteriorating, and accomplish welding in a shorter time due to a reduced number of welding passes. The butt weld structure includes a plurality of butt weld joints 4 offset from each other by an offset amount L, which permits the avoidance of a mutual thermal influence, and one or more boundary surfaces 6, which connect the butt weld joints 4 that are adjacent and which extend in parallel to a front surface or a back surface, at a section orthogonal to the butting parts of a first extra thick steel plate 1 and a second extra thick steel plate 2. Each of the butt weld joints 4 has an allowable thickness T that allows joint performance to be maintained at the time of butt welding.

    [57] Abstract:

Thread has always played an important role to human beings ever since they discovered the necessity of clothing for protection. During primitive civilization, these threads were made out of animal hides which they cut in to very thin strips. Advancement in human civilization brought about the refinements in the threads we use today. Buntot Tigre (Sansevieria trifasciata) is an abundant plant that is rich in fiber. The extracted fiber is shiny and strong which is ideal as a raw material in making dental floss, suturing thread and gauze. Fibers were extracted for testing its physical properties. After several tests were made, the data revealed that the Buntot Tigre fiber can withstand up to 1,200 grams in comparison to the standard traditional nylon floss which can withstand up to 2,000 grams without ever breaking. The measurement of the width showed that a single strand of Buntot Tigre fiber is only 0.11 micrometer in diameter while the floss measured 1.8 micrometers. The researchers therefore concluded the Buntot Tigre leaves can be used for several purposes such as suturing thread, dental floss, gauze and thread for clothing.
