> This year’s varied activities are designed for the entire university community with the intention of energizing the campus. Theater, dance, cinema, conferences, workshops, and much more will take place throughout the week. To close the week, several concerts will take place on the 2nd from 18.00 hrs – A concert in Catalan with Marta Elka, Rauxa, Cris Juanico, Oprimits i Pirats Pirates; others electronic pop groups like Glitter Klinik, Trigger, La Morte, Feral, Las Fellini: and djs; Algoenblanco, The Chasers, Silvia Prada, Kim Ann Foxman (of Hercules and Love Affair). And finally, a demonstration will take place, organized by the Student Assembly against the Bologna Process.> Este año las actividades programadas para dinamizar el campus son muy variadas y pensadas para toda la comunidad universitaria. Teatro, danza, ciclos de cine, conferencias, talleres, congresos y mucho más durante toda la semana. Para cerrar la semana, se llevarán a cabo varios conciertos durante el día 2 a partir de las 18hrs. Un concierto en catalán con Marta Elka, Rauxa, Cris Juanico, Oprimits, i Pirates Pirats. > The sound of Barzin can be described as melancholy, slow and introspective – exploring the quieter, minimal side of pop. The debut self-entitled album released in 1995 was a solo endeavour of Canadian singer-songwriter Barzin Hosseini, however over time and a rotating cast of members, the band eventually formed with the addition of Mike Findlay, Suzanne Hancock, and Tony Dekker. The latest album released in February 2009, “Notes to an Absent Lover” reflects on the highs and lows people experience following a break-up, with lyrics that cover universal themes like sorrow, regret and anger. > El sonido de Barzin puede llegar a ser descrito como melancólico, suave e introspectivo – explorando la cara más tranquila y mínimal del pop. El álbum debut auto-titulado en 1995 fue el esfuerzo del cantautor canadiense Barzin Hosseini, sin embargo con el paso del tiempo y rotación de los miembros, actualmente la banda está formada por; Mike Findlay, Suzanne Hancock, y Tony Dekker. > The “Guitars of the World” festival kicks off in April with a performance by Kurt Rosenwinkel, one of the most beloved guitarists of his generation of jazz musicians. Festival alternatilla – the wave Pictures26-April | 26-Abril

> The London based indie rock trio “The Wave Pictures” joins the line-up for the Alternatilla Festival this year – a sharp and imaginative band, known for their charming and witty pop songs. Songs that are lyrically charged about life in the middle England village from which they come, delivered with honestly and heart. “If You Leave it Alone”, their forthcoming new album will be out on May 4th, with the same titled single out this month, April. Frontman and lyricist Dave Tattersall describes the album as “a good, long sad song in which, among other things, I describe the contents of my fridge.” > El trio de indie-rock “The Wave Pictures” residentes en Londres, formarán parte del Festival Alternatilla de este año – una potente e imaginativa banda, conocida por sus ingeniosas y encantadoras canciones pop. > The Red Karpet received an award in 2007 for the most innovative

company of the Baleares for their original concept, which offers two

unique clothing lines within the same space. The first being the

collection of “Manisha for The Red Karpet “ set up in Mallorca by

the designer of Indian origin Manisha Budhrani. The range is ethni-

cally inspired, both in colour and their timeless style – elegant but

casual, with silk as the star fabric. And now in 2009 The Red Karpet

is introducing their second clothing line – a more urban styled, lim-

ited series “Fashion is Passion”, which will bring the style of Hong

Kong and Tokyo to Palma´s streets. Both lines of clothing will be

available via the online shop; however once per month during the

Open Days, the new pieces of clothing will be available exclusively

in the store, before later being added to the online options. You

will be able to find The Red Karpet and their original initiatives on

Calle San Jaime, a hidden and surprising discovery with its special

concept store, which also has an image consulting service, design

> Vibrant, sexual and provocative, this is the style of Mark Martinez

Magnusson, aka Blend. Producer specialised in audiovisual

projects, he began his career as a drummer in punk bands when

he was just 15 years old. As time went by and new technologies

arose, he became involved with various audio-visual productions,

editing videos for television programs and composing the audio

at the same time. For live performances he counts with the

collaboration of others including his brother David Martzz, dj and

producer of electronic music, who is responsible for controlling

the beats, samples and synths. He is the one who brings a whole

lifetime experience devoted to music, as well as the guitarist Steve

Gomez, whose absolute control provides a more rocker tune, which

Blend has evolved. Undoubtedly, a great success, having over a

million views on myspace and a positive public acceptance. Blend,

as the name says, is a project which fuses electronic music, rock

and techno, composed of amazing mixes and styles influenced

by different sources, as free expression, sex, drugs, political

oppression, animal rights and the environment. “The world is a

dangerous place to live; not because of the people who are evil,

but because of the people who don’t do anything about it.” Albert

Einstein. A whole host of sensations that will make you think of

the difficult society in which we live, but doesn’t give up!

> Vibrante, sexual y provocador, así es el estilo de Marcos Martínez

Magnusson, aka Blend. Productor especializado en proyectos

audiovisuales empezó su carrera tomando lugar como batería de

bandas punk cuando tan sólo tenía 15 años. El transcurso del

tiempo y nuevas tecnologías hicieron que experimentase diversos

programas de producción audiovisual, hasta llegar a editar videos

para programas televisivos componiendo el audio al mismo tiempo.

Para sus directos, cuenta con la colaboración de su hermano David

Martzz, dj y productor de música electrónica, quien se encarga de

controlar la base rítmica y sintes. Es él quien aporta la experiencia

de toda una vida dedicada a la música, y por otro lado, el guitarrista

alemán Steve Gómez, cuyo absoluto dominio de la guitarra consigue

proporcionar el tono más rockero que Blend ha desarrollado para su

proyecto. Sin duda alguna, todo un gran éxito, sobrepasado el millón

de visitas en myspace y toda una positiva aceptación del público.

Blend, como así el propio nombre lo dice, fusiona un proyecto

musical de electrónica, rock y tecno, compuesto por asombrosas

mezclas y estilos influenciados por diferentes fuentes, como viene a

ser la libertad de expresión, el sexo, las drogas, la opresión política,

el derecho de los animales y el medio ambiente. “El mundo es un

lugar peligroso. No por las personas que hacen el mal, sino por las

que se sientan a ver lo que pasa.” Albert Einstein. Todo un cúmulo

de sensaciones que te harán pensar en la sociedad donde vivimos,
