Varad Vinayak Temple, Mahad Shri Varadvinayak Temple is one of the eight Ashtavinayak Temples which is located in the Mahad village of Raigad District of Maharashtra. Varadvinayak Temple is the one and only Ashtavinayak temple where Ganapati devotees are allowed to pay their own pooja materials.. This Ashta Vinayak temple faces towards the east where the statues of elephants are placed on the four sides of the temple. The dome of the temple is about 25 feet high with golden pinnacle. A holy pond is situated on the west of the temple. The idol of Varad Vinayaka faces towards the east placed in the sitting posture, with his trunk towards the left. The stone idols of Riddhi and Siddhi are seen on both sides of the idol. The main factor of Mahad Varadvinayak Temple is a lamp that is glowing continually for over a hundred years. Varadvinayak Temple Festival Puja is performed three times daily. Celebrations are held during Bhadrapada and Magha Shudh Pratipada to Panchami. General Information• With respect to the legend, a sage named Vachaknavi was visited by a king

called Rukmangada. During his visit, the wife of the sage, Mukunda, felt attracted by the king and expressed her love to the king. The king in his anger, made her down and mad. Later,when lord Indra, the king of the Devas, came down to the earth, in the form of Rukmangada, accepted her and an illegal son, Grutshmadha was born. The son who got to know the story of his birth prayed to Ganesha in Bhadrakavana for relieving him from the sins and the Lord granted his prayers. It is believed that Varadvinayaka fulfills all the wishes of his devotees who are suffering from sad. Two ganesh idols are situated in the two corners and the Idol in the left corner is made in vermillion and idol in the right is made up of white marble with trunk turned to the right.The idol is in the sitting position,with the trunk turned to the left.The idol faces towards the east.
