      What is VAWC?

    Anti – Violence Against Women and Their Children Actof 2004 or otherwise known as VAWC, is a law passedin the Philippines for the protection of women and

    children from violence This law esta!lishes theparameters and g"idelines, in keeping with thef"ndamental freedoms g"aranteed "nder theConstit"tion and the Provisions of the #niversal$eclaration of %"man &ights, the convention on the

    'limination of all forms of $iscrimination AgainstWomen, Convention on the &ights of the Child andother international h"man rights instr"ments of whichthe Philippines is a part( (Section 2 of R.A. 9262)

     What are the acts of violence which are covered under R.A.

    9262?

    What are the kinds of sexual violence

    that could be covered under this law?/e"al violence are acts which are se"al in nat"re, committed

    against a woman or her child, and are not limited to

    a. &ape, se"al harassment, acts of lascivio"sness, treatinga woman or her child as a se o!ect, making demeaning andse"all( s"ggestive remarks, ph(sicall( attacking the se"alparts of the victim5s !od(, forcing him or her to watch o!scenep"!lications and indecent shows or forcing the woman or herchild to do indecent acts and6or make 3lms thereof, forcing thewife and mistress6lover to live in the con"gal home or sleep

    together in the same room with the a!"ser!. Acts ca"sing or attempting to ca"se the victim to engage

    in an( se"al activit( !( force, threat of force, ph(sical or otherharm or threat of ph(sical or other harm or coercion

    or with whom he has or had a se"al or datingrelationship or with whom he has a common child1

     The elements of the crime of violence againstwomen thro"gh harassment are

    relationship with the oended woman1
