Llandudno celebrates London 2012 as Adain Avion, the transformed fuselage, nests in front of Venue Cymru from 8-14 July. A host of free performances, talks, films and activities will happen in and around the plane.TRANSCRIPT

16:00The Arrival
Llandudno’s very own extraordinary spectacle to celebrate the London 2012Festival.
Six Glamorous Stewardesses and The Captain guide the fuselage along thepromenade pulled by RGC 1404, led byLlandudno Town Band and flanked by 600 local school children who, with theassistance of Dawns i Bawb, create achoreography inspired by runway landinglights and airplane vapour trails. The plane will then nest in front of Venue Cymru.
Adain Avion: mobile art space, socialsculpture and travelling time capsule.
Adain Avion is part of the UK-wideLondon 2012 Festival and is Wales’major contribution to the CulturalOlympiad, the largest culturalcelebration in the history of themodern Olympic and ParalympicMovements.
The transformed fuselage of a DC09aeroplane will migrate across Walesigniting the imagination with anexciting collection of cultural andsporting activity curated by Welshartist Marc Rees.
Over three weeks Adain Avion visitsSwansea, Ebbw Vale and Llandudnopresenting over 150 different eventsbefore ending its journey at theNational Eisteddfod of Wales inLlandow, Vale of Glamorgan. Finallythe fuselage will visit the NationalHistory Museum at St Fagans, Cardiffwhere the contemporary folk archiveof all activities will be deposited viaAdain Avion’s black box.

An imaginary arctic landscape with abstractfrozen sections floats on glass. Like aniceberg, which has only one tenth of itsmass visible above the waterline, thisinstallation hides a powerful dormantmystery. What lies beneath is a very loudand ugly monster . . . of rock.

Displayed at Mostyn and in shelters alongthe promenade throughout the week, thistwo part work is a series of still and movingimages of residents and visitors toLlandudno captured as they stand lookingout to sea.
Cysgod, which translates as both ‘shelter’and ‘shadow’, attempts to offer aheightened sense of time, place and self as notions of home and away, ebb and flow,connect and divide, arrival and departure.

Migrations present The Journey / Y Daithby Filipa Francisco
Portuguese choreographer Filipa Franciscoand composer Antonio Pedró collaboratewith local Folk Dance groups to create aunique take on the familiar flash mobphenomena, but with an added folk steptwist. The performance travels from the pierand along the promenade encompassingknown landmarks and musical groups enroute to the plane. Co-produced byMigrations and Festival Materiais Diversos.
