Introduction to the Veterans’ Resource Guide The Veterans' Mental Health Coalition of New York City (VMHC) and the Veterans Health Alliance of Long Island (VHA-LI) have created this guide to address one of the greatest obstacles to service members, veterans and military families receiving the help they need—the difficulty of finding providers that can meet those needs. We hope this guide will help service members, veterans and military families connect with providers across New York State. We also hope that providers will find this guide to be a useful resource for making referrals and helping veterans, service members and their loved ones get the assistance they need. The information contained in this guide is based on information that was voluntarily submitted by providers across the state. As a result, it is by no means comprehensive—but it can be a good way to begin a search for services ranging from physical care, mental health treatment, substance abuse treatment, housing assistance, employment assistance, legal services, education services and information about benefits. As thousands of troops return from Iraq and Afghanistan with a broad spectrum of complex needs, we hope this guide will grow to help meet those needs. If you would like to add or update your organization’s information, please go to www.mha-nyc.org/VMHC/Publications. Changes submitted online will be included in future editions of the Resource Guide. Thank you for using this resource, and for everything you do on behalf of veterans, service members and military families. About the Veterans' Mental Health Coalition of New York City The Veterans Mental Health Coalition of New York City (VMHC) was founded in 2009 by the Mental Health Association of New York City in collaboration with the National Alliance on Mental Illness of New York City. It includes more than 800 members—including veterans, providers, advocates and educators—who are committed to meeting the behavioral health needs of veterans, service members and military families. VMHC does this through education, information, collaboration, and the promotion of a comprehensive array of services. Learn more about VMHC at www.mha-nyc.org/VMHC or www.facebook.com/VMHCNYC; or by calling (212) 614-5753. About the Veterans' Health Alliance of Long Island The Veterans Health Alliance of Long Island is a collaborative effort of veterans and family
members, the VA Medical Center in Northport, County Veteran Service Agencies, VET Centers,
local universities, non-profit agencies and elected officials. The Alliance’s mission is to promote
the health and wellbeing of veterans and their families through advocacy, education, outreach
and direct services.

Providers by Location and Service
Type
Using This Guide The following index lists providers by their locations first, then by the types of services they offer. The locations include nationwide and statewide organizations, followed by organizations in New York City, Long Island, and other counties, which are arranged in alphabetical order. Under the heading of each county, the types of services offered are: Physical Healthcare services, Mental Health services, Substance Abuse Treatment services, Housing services, Employment services, Legal services, Benefits services, Education services, and Other services. To use this guide, find your location, then find the section listing services you’re interested in. To learn more about an organization, refer to the alphabetical listing of providers that comes after the index. Tip: If you’re viewing this directory on your computer, you can quickly search it by pushing your keyboard’s Control key and F key at the same time. This will bring up a search box. Type in the location, agency, or service you’re interested in and it will take you to each page of the directory that includes your search terms.
