4BATTERY CHARGING

12345678910111213141516

■ Caution

Msuse of Lthum-Ion batteres may result n the followng hazards: smoke, fre, or the battery may rupture. Msuse can also cause damage to the battery or degradaton of battery performance.

• R DANGER! Use and charge only specfied Icom battery packs wth Icom rados or Icom charger. Only Icom battery packs are tested and approved for use and charge wth Icom rados or Icom charger. Usng thrd-party or coun-terfet battery packs or charger may cause smoke, fire, or cause the battery to burst.

D Battery caution• R DANGER! DO NOT hammer or otherwse mpact the

battery. Do not use the battery f t has been severely m-pacted or dropped, or f the battery has been subjected to heavy pressure. Battery damage may not be vsble on the outsde of the case. Even f the surface of the battery does not show cracks or any other damage, the cells nsde the battery may rupture or catch fire.

• R DANGER! NEVER use or leave battery packs n areas wth temperatures above +60˚C. Hgh temperature buldup n the battery, such as could occur near fires or stoves, n-sde a sun heated car, or n drect sunlght may cause the battery to rupture or catch fre. Excessve temperatures may also degrade battery performance or shorten battery lfe.

• R DANGER! DO NOT expose the battery to ran, snow, seawater, or any other lquds. Never charge or use a wet battery. If the battery gets wet, be sure to wpe t dry before usng. The battery s not waterproof.

• R DANGER! NEVER ncnerate used battery packs snce nternal battery gas may cause them to rupture, or may cause an exploson.

• R DANGER! NEVER solder the battery termnals or NEVER modfy the battery pack. Ths may cause heat gen-eraton, and the battery may rupture, emt smoke or catch fire.

• R DANGER! Use the battery only wth the transcever for whch t s specfed. Never use a battery wth any other equpment, or for any purpose that s not specfed n ths nstructon manual.

• R DANGER! If flud from nsde the battery gets n your eyes, blndness can result. Rnse your eyes wth clean water, wthout rubbng them, and see a doctor mmedately.

Page 22: VHF TRANSCEIVER iF3162T/S · READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS carefully and com- pletely before us ng the transce ver. SAVE THIS INSTRUCTION MANUAL — Th s nstruct on manual conta ns mportant

• WARNING! Immedately stop usng the battery f t emts an abnormal odor, heats up, or s dscolored or deformed. If any of these condtons occur, contact your Icom dealer or dstrbutor.

• WARNING! Immedately wash, usng clean water, any part of the body that comes nto contact wth flud from nsde the battery.

• WARNING! NEVER put the battery n a mcrowave oven, hgh-pressure contaner, or n an nducton heatng cooker. Ths could cause a fre, overheatng, or cause the battery to rupture.

• CAUTION! Always use the battery wthn the specfed temperature range for the transcever (–25˚C to +55˚C) and the battery tself (–20˚C to +60˚C). Usng the battery out of ts specfed temperature range wll reduce the bat-tery’s performance and battery lfe. Please note that the specfied temperature range of the battery may exceed that of the transcever. In such cases, the transcever may not work properly because t s out of ts operatng temperature range.

• CAUTION! Shorter battery lfe could occur f the battery s left fully charged, completely dscharged, or n an ex-cessve temperature envronment (above +50˚C) for an extended perod of tme. If the battery must be left unused for a long tme, t must be detached from the rado after ds-chargng. You may use the battery untl the remanng ca-pacty s about half, then keep t safely n a cool dry place wth the temperature between –20˚C to +20˚C.

D Charging caution• R DANGER! NEVER charge the battery pack n areas wth

extremely hgh temperatures, such as near fires or stoves, nsde a sun heated car, or n drect sunlght. In such en-vronments, the safety/protecton crcut n the battery wll actvate, causng the battery to stop chargng.

• WARNING! NEVER charge or leave the battery n the bat-tery charger beyond the specfied tme for chargng. If the battery s not completely charged by the specfed tme, stop chargng and remove the battery from the battery charger. Contnung to charge the battery beyond the spec-fied tme lmt may cause a fire, overheatng, or the battery may rupture.

• WARNING! NEVER nsert the transcever (battery attached to the transcever) nto the charger f t s wet or soled. Ths could corrode the battery charger termnals or damage the charger. The charger s not waterproof.

• CAUTION! NEVER charge the battery outsde of the spec-fied temperature range: BC-160 (0˚C to +40˚C). Icom rec-ommends chargng the battery at +20˚C. The battery may heat up or rupture f charged out of the specfied tempera-ture range. Addtonally, battery performance or battery lfe may be reduced.
