CONTACT TRACING WEBINAR The UCSF Office of Population Health and Accountable Care and UCSF Occupational Health Services invite you to join an educational webinar for best practices related to contact tracing.

Contact tracing is a key tool in the effort to stop the chain of coronavirus transmission and help facilitate a safe reopening of the United States and UCSF. Places that have implemented both increased testing and contact tracing have been able to decrease their cases. Come learn about how our UCSF Occupational Health clinicians are conducting contact tracing to prevent disease transmission and to keep our UCSF employees and patients safe from coronavirus.

CONTACT TRACING

There is anti-contact tracing sentiment on social media from people who are concerned about their

"freedom.” How do we educate and assuage fears? How will contact tracing work if folks refuse?

We respect people’s privacy. The contact tracing program in San Francisco is entirely voluntary and data

collected through contact tracing is not shared beyond the Department of Public Health. There is a lot of

concern about using phone apps as a tool for contact tracing. In San Francisco, we are not using smart

phone proximity tracking apps to contact trace. Any consideration for using that kind of technology will

only occur with commitment to ensuring the following principles:

1. Consent: Patients and contacts should have the ability to opt-in or opt-out of any technology that leverages their personal information.

2. Data Minimization: Only data that is needed to achieve an outcome should be collected, nothing more.

3. Technical Protections: Strong technical controls such as anonymization, encryption, and de-identification should be default features of the technology.

4. Control of Data: Users should have full transparency and control of their data throughout their use of the technology. This means understanding how and where data is stored, the safeguards put in place, and the ability to delete all data at any time.

How can we innovate contact tracing that doesn’t further surveil communities that are already over

policed and criminalized?

There are many ways that we could ‘lean in’ to innovation and make the most of how communities are

already ‘networked.’ There are opportunities using technology innovation related to the following

areas:

1. Support efficient use of resources. Helping existing contact tracing operations to focus on high priority patients and patients without access to the Internet.

2. Improve the accuracy of contact tracing operations. Identify more close contacts without relying solely on the memory of individuals.

3. Scale contact tracing. Leverage technology to reach more people, faster while respecting privacy. Easy enough for end users to opt-in.

4. Support targeted measures for isolation and quarantine. Assist public health officials narrow isolation and quarantine measures to address specific neighborhood needs.

Are there opportunities for contact tracers in other counties throughout the East Bay?

Project Gratitude

"The ED have received enormous support by way

of accolades, food and PPE from our community

to help keep us inspired, fed and shielded during

these times of COVID. As we all saw flattening of

the curve, we knew this could not have been

possible without people sheltering in place. By

sheltering in place, lives have been saved. Those

of HCWs and those of our most vulnerable

patients. So we wanted to give thanks back. Back

to our community for doing what they do so we

could do what we needed to do. We created a

short video made with pictures, footage and even

the song are all from our ED providers and staff.

We created this as a tribute to our community

Increased Shuttle Service

and Discounted Daily Parking Start Monday, May 18

As UCSF gradually resumes operations, Transportation is adjusting services to meet the increased needs of UCSF Health and Campus. Here are the upcoming changes we want you to be aware of. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we roll out new processes and welcome more faculty, staff, students, and patients back to campus. Please note that Muni will increase frequency on select lines starting May 16. For information, click here.

Discounted Daily Parking Begins May 18 Recognizing the limited commute options in these challenging times, UCSF supported free parking to essential on-site workers and UCSF patients since March 16. Given the high cost of providing free parking and since UCSF is on the road to recovery, we are introducing a discounted daily rate, beginning on Monday, May 18. To help everyone ease back into paying, the fee will gradually increase as noted below. Recognizing that many of you will not be on site five days a week, given the increased use of telecommuting and/or rotating schedules, we are pleased to introduce the option of paying daily. If you are planning to park on campus every day, including weekends, you will want to obtain a monthly permit starting June 1, 2020 for lowest cost option and not pay by day. Please allow extra time when arriving the week of May 18, 2020; we appreciate everyone’s patience.

A valid UCSF ID must be shown to the cashier to receive the discounted daily rate. Students will be charged 50% of the discounted daily rate, with UCSF ID. All patients will receive the discounted daily rate. To pay for your parking starting Monday, May 18, we are offering a touchless payment option through PayByPhone. Visit the PayByPhone section of our Parking webpage for details. Please set up your PayByPhone option before arriving on campus. Alternatively, you may also pay at the gate upon existing. We will provide an update regarding July rates in mid June. A daily max rate will be available for employees in the new fiscal year.

Monthly Parking Permit Holders To allow permit holders to also take advantage of discounted daily parking rates, credits will be issued for permit fees paid for May and June. Instead permit holders will pay the discounted daily parking rate only on days that they park on campus. If you are a permit holder, please visit our Parking webpage to learn more.

Real-time parking info at Mission Bay At Mission Bay, UCSF operates several parking lots and garages. At times, some of these parking facilities reach capacity, while other facilities have plenty of open spaces. To help drivers find open parking spots in real-time, Transportation has launched a parking guidance system that displays parking availability at the Mission Bay lots and garages on our website and on the UCSF Mobile app, on the Go tab, under MB Open Spaces.

What's new in Shuttle Service

More Shuttle Service, including Grey, Resumes May 18 The frequency of shuttle service will increase beginning on Monday, May 18. In addition, the Grey shuttle will also run during the morning and evening peak periods. Shuttles will continue to operate on a modified schedule that includes morning and evening service on most routes. View shuttle schedules at shuttles.ucsf.edu. We anticipate increasing shuttle service again on June 1. Additional details about June Increases will be available by May 26.

Together, we can prevent the spread of COVID-19 As a reminder, in accordance with the local health department restrictions, the following safety measures will be enforced on all UCSF shuttles. While on shuttle, wear appropriate face cover over nose and mouth. To maintain physical distance, there is a 6-passenger limit on each shuttle. Those who are not able to be accommodated due to the maximum capacity restriction will receive a Lyft voucher for travel between UCSF campuses or to the 16th Street BART Station.
