Most important parameter in the detection ofperipheral artery occlusive disease PAOD

Prevalence in German private office patients is 18%(n=6880, age>65 yrs, ABI<0.9)

After 1 year mortality was 2.8% in PAOD patients (ABI<0.9) and 0.9 in all other patients

After 3 years risk of death was 3.6 times higher with ABI<0.5 as compared to ABI≥1.1
