VICTORIA: A WINNER
Early 1999 is launched Victoria, the first handheld device in the world to operate up to STM-1.
April 2000: Victoria grows in features and interfaces to the point where it can more than hold its own against any portable device.
Operators, manufacturers and installers have welcomed the arrival of this efficient and intu-itive tool for the way it has made their work easier and reduced operating time.
Internetworking testsThe fact that European and American stan-dards exist side by side in Victoria makes it possible to operate in any environment. All SDH, SONET, PDH and T-Carrier topolo-gies can be checked.
The features of a portableVictoria’s features equal and even surpass those of other devices that are much bulkier and more difficult to handle:
• Auto-configuration• Exploration of errors and alarms• Line frequency measurement• Detection of slips (bit and frame)• BER measurements, counters and
rates for all events• RTD measurements• Analysis and programming of qua-
lity objectives - G.821, M.2100, G.826 and M.2101.1
• Synchronization measurements
• Graphs showing events and pointer values• Generation of AU and TU pointer events• Programming and display of overhead
bytes• Insertion of events: all errors and alarms• Trail trace messages (J0, J1 and J2)• Transparency test on DCCs and other
bytes• Transmitter frequency deviation• Internal clock stratum 3, recovered; exter-
nal reference (clock or coded signal)• Pre-programmed tests• 2 Mbit/s and 1.5 Mbit/s frame structures
with signaling analysis and tests in Nx64 and Nx56 Kbit/s
Total mobilityWeighting only 2 kg and battery-powered, Vic-toria is ideal for work in central office environ-ments and also out in the field.
Touch&Play©Simplicity, ergonomics and efficiency: Victoria’s touchscreens do away with the need for func-tion keys and endless menus, and last 9 times longer than a conventional keyboard.
SoftLEDs©This technology allows all events to be dis-played simultaneously on screen while still pro-viding the user with all the advantages of
working with tricolor LEDs. Errors, alarms, slips and pointer
events are grouped in layers that are associated to 10 exter-nal LEDs, with the result that
events can always be
All you need for the design, installation and maintenance of digital circuits based on SDH/SONET/PDH or T-Carrier
Ideal for fixed telephony, cable operators, leased lines, access networks, corporate networks,
trunk networks, GSM and UMTS, multimedia and manufacturers of
SDH and SONET equipment

seen and their details shown on screen.
Optical micromodulesIn order to deal with all the possible combinations when con-necting to the optical interface, a range of optical micromod-ules that can measure optical power and be powered by the battery of the Victoria itself were developed. A variety of modules are available: multimode, single mode 1310 and 1550nm, short and long haul, with SC, FC and other connec-tors.
StorageEvents and other parameters are stored using multi-event cards, letting you obtain several long-term measurements with a resolution of one second.
Tracing combines time plots and histograms to provide a summary of network defects and anomalies. A search func-tion lets you locate all types of errors and alarms, as well as isolating bursts and intermittent alarms. The names of the
results files and configurations may include a text comment.
Printout of events and perfor-mance
Victoria lets you print counters and performance reports, both by period and as a total, as well as printing events in real time with a time and date stamp. Carry out your measurements in the field and print out the results files once you get back to the office or upload them to a PC.
