Outlook for Woodchip Exports

Other Fiber Demand• Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) is trying to shift the

forest industry toward more valuable products, such as plywood, MDF, and furniture by encouraging companies with subsidies.

Export Tax• Vietnamese government applied 2% of woodchip export tax in January 2016. • The tax has negative impact on the replantation of Acacia by farmers although

the government do not mention to additional measures against woodchip export.

Rising Standards of Living and Wages

• Rising standards of living and wages in Vietnam will be factors that increase the price of Vietnam woodchip in the long term.
