A new report published by Allied Market Research titled,
"World Animal Feed Additives Market—Opportunities
and Forecasts, 2014-2021," projects that the world animal
feed additives market would reach $27.9 billion by 2021
at a CAGR of 6.5% from 2015 to 2021.
The world animal feed additives market is poised to
witness significant growth during the forecast period,
owing to growing consumption of meat products,
increasing concerns over meat quality, and rising safety
concerns associated with the outbreak of livestock
diseases. The demand for meat and meat-based products
are expected to register a two-fold increase by 2030 in
the developing countries. Global industrialization of
meat products is expected to boost the growth; however,
factors such as increasing prices of raw materials such as
maize, wheat, barley and others and stringent regulatory
guidelines for feed additives would hamper the market
growth.
Methionine takes largest share
The amino acids, vitamins, and enzymes segments
accounted for more than half of the share in the overall
animal feed additives market in 2015. Methionine amino
acid, a sulfur-containing amino acid responsible for
triggering a wide variety of metabolic reactions, such
as cell proliferation and development of healthy and
productive livestock, captured the largest market share
Feed Additives Market to Reach $27.9b by 2021
of 44% in 2015. Non-starch polysaccharides (NSP) is the most widely
used feed enzyme owing to its effect on the nutrient reabsorption, lipid
metabolism, and immune system of animals.
Poultry segment dominates
The poultry segment is expected to dominate the market during 2014 and
2021. Poultry is the second largest meat producing segment in the global
meat industry, as poultry meat is universally consumed, unlike beef and
pork. Increase in trade in the poultry meat segment and rising concerns
over its quality is expected to foster the growth of the feed additives
market. Recent outbreak of diseases, such as bird flu, have positively
impacted the growth of the poultry feed additives market; thereby,
increasing awareness about poultry health and meat quality.
Growth in South Africa and Brazil
The European and LAMEA (Latin America, the Middle East and Africa)
animal feed additives markets are expected to offer lucrative growth
opportunities during the forecast period. Increasing meat consumption,
food safety concerns, and rising meat prices in Europe are key drivers for
the growth of feed additives market, with major revenue contribution
from Germany, France, and Spain. South Africa and Brazil in LAMEA
are projected to grow with CAGRs of 7.2% and 6.8%, respectively. The
European Union has enforced regulations on the feed industry in Brazil to
develop better and safe feed additives, as it is one of the major exporters
of meat to the European countries.

Fishmeal Prices Forecast Lower in 2016
"Since the start of the second 2015 fishing season in Peru,
[which kicked off in November 2015], fishmeal prices had
been declining, albeit from a high level [USD$1,700 to 1,900
per metric ton (mt)], noted Rabobank.
However, it seems that, in the last few weeks, nearly all
Peruvian stocks have been sold and prices have stabilized
and even recovered slightly to the USD$1,400 to 1,600 per
mt range," Rabobank analyst Gorjan Nikolik said.
High stocks in China and good expectations for slightly
better fish meal production means prices are likely to be
lower in 2016 than in 2015, said Nikolik.
"Better supply from Peru will be balanced with weaker
supply from the rest of the world.
There is also some potential for weakness on the demand
side due to contraction in the production of salmon in Chile
and Norway and contracting pig heard in China, he added.
The analyst also noted the hike in the number of start-up
phase projects worldwide looking to develop a fish meal
replacement due to the long term rising prices.
"Until recently, we have only heard about projects that could
make one to five thousand tons of raw material by 2020.
However, there are currently projects in the pipeline that, if
successful, can even produce up to 100,000 tons [by then]
said Nikolik.
A notewor thy exception to the declining f ishmeal
production trend is the use of trimmings from the
processing of seafood for human consumption by producers
in China, Thailand and other regions to cover, at least, a part
of the fishmeal supply, noted the analyst in an industry note
on fishmeal production last year.
"Although so far, fishmeal produced from trimmings has not been able to
change overall decline in supply, it has become an important source and is
mitigating the shortage, wrote Nikolik back then.
Strategic ingredient
Speaking to this publication last year, both the IFFO and Rabobank
noted that fishmeal has moved from being a commodity to a high priced
strategic ingredient in feed.
The IFFO said it saw fishmeal usage now being about what it can bring
during the really critical stages of livestock and aquaculture production.
The organization said, as a result, fishmeal manufacturers have been
trying to add greater value to the ingredient as both farmed animal and
aquaculture producers increasingly demand enhanced quality, freshness,
providence and sustainability of supply to warrant the price.
Key changes that have added value to fishmeal in the last ten years
include the introduction of steam drying technology: "This innovation has
seen more control as regards the drying temperatures used in fishmeal
production resulting in a more consistent product with a higher level of
digestible protein, ” said the IFFO.
Fishmeal producers are also highly focused now on the freshness of the
incoming raw materials so that quality is not undermined, it added.
The kind of management in the fisheries and concerns over the use
of forced labor in the fishmeal supply chain are also informing buying
decisions, said the organization.
From: Feed Navigator.com
The overall supply and demand balance for fishmeal, at least currently, looks slightly better than in 2015,says Rabobank analyst, GorjanNikolik.“ “

World Grain Production up from January
Mainly due to an increase for maize (corn), the forecast for world total
grains (wheat and coarse grains) production in 2015—2016 is 10 million
metric tonnes higher month-on-month at just over 2 billion metric
tonnes, down by 2 percent from last season’s record. Nevertheless,
because of large opening stocks, total supplies are seen matching the
all-time high of the year before, according to the International Grains
Council February Grain Market Report.
With increased figures for maize and barley feeding, the global grains
consumption forecast is raised slightly, to 1,986 million metric tonnes,
only a small year-on-year decline. The all-grains ending stocks projection
is lifted by 10 million metric tonnes, to 465m, the most in around three
decades. Trade is placed at 318 million metric tonnes, up by 3 million
month-on-month and only modestly below 2014—2015, which was the
biggest ever.
The outlook for global soybean production in 2015—2016 is little
changed from January, at 321 million metric tonnes, and in line with
the previous season’s peak. With consumption seen at an all-time
high of 321 million metric tonnes, the forecast for world inventories is
maintained at a record of about 44 million metric tonnes, representing
fractional year-on-year growth. Major exporters’ stocks are expected to
increase by in excess of one-quarter, more than offsetting declines in
other nations, mainly in China where some destocking is likely after the
large purchases of recent seasons.
Global trade is projected to rise only marginally, to a record of 129
million metric tonnes.
Grains production in 2015—2016 is expected to exceed 2 billion metric
tonnes for the third consecutive season.Global stocks could be around a
29-year high at the end of 2015—2016.
Another year of expected bumper soybean harvests in the main
producers will boost supplies, as world stocks edge up to a new peak.
World total grains (wheat and coarse grains) production is estimated
to have fallen by 37 million metric tonnes in 2015—2016, to just over 2
billion metric tonnes. The year-on-year drop is mainly due to reduced
output of maize, more than outweighing bumper crops of wheat, barley
and sorghum. Consumption is expected to remain at a high level, only
fractionally lower than the previous season’s record. Carryover stocks
(aggregate of respective local marketing years) are seen reaching a 29-
year peak, led by accumulations of wheat and barley.
World trade is projected modestly down year-on-year,
at the second highest ever.
Large stocks will help to cushion the impact of a
projected 21 million metric tonnes year-on-year
decline in 2016—2017 wheat production.
Only a small drop in area is anticipated, but average
yields may not be as high as in the previous season.
Preliminary expectations are for a 1 percent expansion
in global maize area in 2016—2017, including gains
in the U.S., the CIS, South America and Africa. A small
increase in production is seen being entirely absorbed
by higher use, but ending stocks are projected to
recede only slightly and will likely remain in excess of
200 million metric tonnes.
Against the backdrop of another year of large crops
in key producers, global soybean output is seen
matching the previous year’s record of 321 million
metric tonnes. Uptake is anticipated to expand by
11 million metric tonnes year-on-year on growing
demand from feed and food sectors but, owing to
heavy carry-ins, aggregate carryovers are seen edging
higher, to a new peak. U.S. closing stocks are expected
to more than double and will likely compensate for
falls elsewhere, including in China, while deliveries to
that market are set to expand modestly as world trade
reaches a new high of 129 million metric tonnes.
Highlighting relatively tighter fundamentals, global
rapeseed/canola inventories are projected to contract
by one-fifth year-on-year, to 5.4 million metric tonnes,
including steep falls in Canada and the EU.
With market attention focused on generally bearish
fundamentals, weakness in non-grain markets and
concerns about prospects for the world economy, the
IGC GOI slumped by 3 percent since the last GMR, to its
lowest in more than seven years. Against a backdrop
of ample exportable surpluses, current low ocean
freight rates and with mostly favorable early prospects
for 2016—2017 northern hemisphere winter crops,
buying interest remained light, with some importers
waiting for a further downturn in prices.
Lo s s e s i n s o y b e a n va l u e s w e r e p a r t i c u l a r l y
pronounced, as harvesting gathered pace in Brazil, and
with recent beneficial weather bolstering expectations
for huge crops across South America. Average wheat,
barley and maize quotations were also lower, while
comparatively small changes were seen in rice prices.
The IGC GOI wheat sub-index dropped by a net 2
percent month-on-month. Pressure stemmed from
comfortable world supplies and worries about slack
importer demand, including a slowdown in sales to
Egypt.
The maize GOI sub-index showed a small decline in
average maize export prices since the last report.
Weakness was mainly tied to losses in the U.S., where
quotations turned more competitive, dropping by
around 6 percent. In contrast dollar-denominated
prices in the Black Sea region were firmer.
World soybean markets softened over the past month,
the IGC GOI sub-index dropping by 5 percent, as the
harvesting of expected bumper outturns in South
America weighed on sentiment. However, U.S. market
losses were capped by renewed old crop demand and
currency movements, while loading delays provided
some support to free on board values in Brazil.

Product Update
The SYPJ Series Intermittent Coater
1. Background
With the increasing popularity of liquid additives and feed, both the
high-oil aquatic feed and the livestock feed need post coating. Quite
a few of trace minerals, vitamins, enzymes and special oils have to be
added after the feed is formulated. However, current drum coating
cannot meet the demand in terms of output and uniformity.
A few years ago, Mr. Lu Shizhe, Vice-President of Feed and Animal
Nutrition Division of Dachan Food Limited gave the similar idea. And
as early as 2011, the CP Group embarked on the use of customized
double-shaft mixer for liquid coating.

On March 30, President of FAMSUN Fan Tianming along with Vice-
President Sun Xuqing and Representative of Russian Federation Li
Dongshu met with the Special Presidential Representative of President
Vladimir Putin, exchanging views on future cooperation in agriculture.
Having entered into the Russian market in 2005, FAMSUN has been
marketing in Khabarovsk and Vladivostock in the east; Krasnodar,
Chelyabinsk and Kursk in the south of Russia, according to President Fan.
In addition, FAMSUN establishes partnership with Russian industry
leading enterprises such as Cherkizov and Russiagrain. President Fan said
that with the promising outlook for the cooperation between China and
Russia, FAMSUN plans to increase investment in Russian market.
Mr.Babakov pointed out that favored by the complementarity of the
resources of the two countries, the cooperation between China and
Russia is seeing a new high. Russia is rich in agricultural resources but
the shrinking domestic market calls for more opportunities abroad and
the new destination is China. Mr.Babakov hoped more companies like
FAMSUN could invest in Russia.
After the meeting, President Fan and Mr.Babakov visited COFCO and
China State Farms Agribusiness (Group) Corporation. President Fan hoped
that within the bilateral cooperation framework state-owned enterprises
could play an active role in the cooperation in agriculture between the
two countries.

The New SYHJ1A Premix Mixer
The production of premix which dominates the production of
conventional compound feed has high requirements for the
mixers, such as the uniformity of the mixture, airtightness and
residue rate. Based on the investigation and analysis of the use
of existing premixing facilities, the research institute of FAMSUN
launches a dedicated mineral premix mixer (see picture 1).
1. The development of the new SYHJ1A Premix MixerCompared with conventional compound feed, multi-mineral premix features characteristics such as bigger
volume weight, finer particles and better mobility. The particle size of the premix can reach up to 100 μm;
volume weight can go beyond 1kg per liter and the material is normally slightly acidic while the volume
weight of the multi-vitamin premix is much lower, staying at 0.7kg per liter. Currently, the multi-mineral and
multi-vitamin premix is produced by large-scale premix manufacturers with dedicated production lines
as to reduce cross contamination caused by frequent change of feed formulas and ensure the quality of
production. There is little doubt that such mode of production would be the trend. The use of conventional
mixer for mineral premix production will lead to lower fill factor, causing lower uniformity of the product
and ineffective utilization of the facilities. Given the status quo of premix production, this is where the new
dedicated SYHJ1A Premix Mixer comes in.
The new mixer is mainly used in the production of multi-mineral premix with volume weight of 1kg and
above. It is an upgraded version of existing mixers with strengthened body and gates, better leakproofness,
lower residual volume and easier maintenance. The trial of the prototype mixer has been complete with
its uniformity, airtightness and gate vibration meeting its designed requirements and the product will be
placed on the market in June, 2016.

Steam consumption
The unit steam consumption of the MJ Dryer in handling the floating aquatic feed (3-8mm template) and particles for pet food (3-8mm template) is
18-20kg/ton materials/point moisture difference. For instance, if the reduction in moisture during feed charging and discharging of one MJ Dryer with
an output of ten tons per hour was 12%, and the unit steam consumption was 19kg, the steam consumption of the dryer would be 19×10×12 = 2,280
kg, that is 2.28 tons. The steam consumption for each ton of materials would be 228kg. The results was confirmed by Chengdu Test Station which had
conducted tests in Zhongshan Yuehai.

3. Structure highlights High mixing uniformity
With the help of our patented double-blade rotor which speeds the convection and shear
mixing of the materials, the coefficient of variation of the common materials can be ≤5% in
90 seconds.
Lower residue rate
The mixing chamber with its pyriform design, features lower residue rate when compared
with the w-shaped and u-shaped mixing chambers. The length of the discharge port
equals that of the mixing chamber and the width of the mixer also ensures quick and clean
discharge and lower residual volume. In addition, the mounting structure of the blades
for the rotor can be adjusted in a radial direction, which means the clearance between the
blades and the mixer body can be adjusted. Customers can customize the adjustments as
per their own demand. Such mounting structure will further reduce the residual volume in
the mixer, lengthening the service life of the machine and lowering the maintenance costs of
our customers.
Better airtightness
The shaft seal adopts the combination structure, that is, the labyrinth seal combined with
packing seal. Such design effectively reduces the leakage by bending the leakage path. The
service life of the seal structure can last longer than a year. The silicon rubber strip with high
tear strength is used as the sealing strip at the discharge port.
Convenient maintenance and adjustment
The fact that the premix mixer needs regular cleaning and adjustment calls for easy
maintenance. Therefore, we make the cleaning gate of the mixer larger so that the operator
can finish the cleaning work with a tool from the outside of the mixer. Besides, the bearing
support on one side of the speed reducer is equipped with repair hand hole. One can adjust
and repair the internal linkage mechanism simply by opening the cover of the hand hole.
To make the disassembly of the speed reducer more convenient, the inside of the inner
hole is equipped with disassembling screw nuts (see picture 2). The speed reducer can be
disassembled by screwing in the bolt.

Project
The Gold Coin Shrimp Feed Project is the new shrimp feed plant of Gold Coin Group in Indonesian market. Under the spell of
Early Mortality Syndrome (EMS) or Hepatopancreatic Acute Necrosis Syndrome, a disease which first appeared in China and then
spread to Viet Nam in 2010, Malaysia and Northern Borneo in 2011 and Thailand in 2012, the shrimp industry of these countries
was plunged into a slump. But the Indonesian market was spared from EMS, which led to the decision of Gold Coin Group to
construct a new feed plant there.
On April 16, 2015, after days’ discussion about the parameters of the equipment, provisions of the contract with Gold Coin Group
and internal review, the contract was finally secured at the headquarters of the Gold Coin in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. As per the
requirement of the customer, the project should be fully delivered in March, 2016. In June, the engineering division of Gold Coin
visited FAMSUN for a 7-day meeting on the determination of the design drawing, electric control, safety standards and so forth. In
September, two batches of equipment arrived at the construction site where the installation work began on 20 September.
Thanks to the hard work of the steering team and the commissioning team, the acceptance test commenced in January, 2016
and the acceptance test was completely finished in late March. FAMSUN’s project manager and the commissioning staff ran
tests (equipment and finished products) and data collection according to the contract requirements along with the help of
the engineering team and the safety standard department of Gold Coin. Up to date the shrimp feed plant has been in steady
operation at full capacity.

Technology
Introduction
The extrusion technology, with its advantages in variability, nutrition retention, energy efficiency etc., is being widely
employed in food, animal feed and pet food processing.
And in the production of feed materials, aqua feed and pet food, the single-screw extruder enjoys wide application for its
simple structure, high manufacturability, lower costs and adaptability.
The screw and the pressure ring are core parts of the single-screw extruder and their service life is directly linked to the
operating life and output of the extruder and the customer’s costs involved in production and maintenance.
In the last two years, progress has been made in the workmanship of the single screw, lengthening the service life up to 2.5~3.5
times longer of the previous versions. And for the remaining questions, we have come up with some new solutions.
Advantages of the new solutions:
1. High processing precision and adaptability
Complex structure and high processing and configuration standards are required of the screws for aquatic products and pet
food and the supporting pressure ring and shear panel. Current screws are yet to be widely applied because of their poor
dimensional accuracy.
The latest workmanship implemented with imported CNC and heat treatment improves the accuracy of the screw and can
the designing and development of key parts.
2. Quality highly controllable
Comprehensive quality control systems in manufacture process are established to make every step from raw materials to
finished products traceable, thus significantly improving the quality and reliability of the screw.
3. Nice appearance
Chinese customers pay significant attention to the appearance of the machines (bad appearance means unreliable quality). Therefore, the screws
by the new workmanship have better appearance (see picture 1).
Our new screw and pressure ring are now given full play at the plant of a customer in Guangdong Province (See picture 2; see table 1 for details).
With the manufacturing costs unchanged, the service life of the new screw is now 54% longer. The manufacturing costs of new pressure ring when
compared with the current version is 50% higher, however, the service life is of 4.4 times longer than that of the current product. Overall, the unit
production cost for the customer is now 67% lower.
Conclusion
Featuring longer service life, cost-effectiveness and reliable quality control, the enhanced screw is also highly adaptive; it is compatible with all
types of single screws, pressure rings and shear panels. The new screw can be made full use of in extruders for the processing of materials, aqua
feed and pet food, creating more values for our customers with lower production costs.

The New Sieve Breakage DetectorJiang Mingming
Background
The screen piece of the crusher could be broken as a result of the poor
quality of the cereals that might contain some rocks, metallic impurities
which would break the screen with the impact of highly rotating hammer.
With the broken sieve piece, the size of the particles will become larger,
influencing the quality and the appearance of the feed. And to ensure the
quality of the product, our manufacturers have to recrush the materials,
thus wasting a significant amount of labor, materials, capital and time. Such
extra work undermines continuous and steady production, especially in
peak seasons.
High automation and adaptability: The handy automation interface is in an interlocking initiation with the crusher and an alarm will
be triggered if there is a breakage in the mesh. After the shutdown, the impurities will be removed without the involvement of man. The
parameters can be reconfigured according to the actual production conditions.
High security: The system is pneumatically powered. Without heavy current, the device can also be used in an environment with high dust
concentration.
For lack of reliable sieve breakage detectors for crushers, manufacturers
often make their judgments by periodical random sampling manually.
For all the time and labor invested, the results still cannot be ensured.
Quite a number of feed manufacturers are of the opinion that new ways
of locating the breakage of the sieve pieces are needed to improve the
quality of the feed, reduce the intensity of detection work and production
costs and make for the objective automation of the feed plants.
Test conditions:
Material: corn
Crusher: FAMSUN SFSP132×102C/A(250Kw(
Current:410-430A
Mesh size of screen: (2.0mm
Theoretically, the response time of breakage detection of small crushers are shorter.
Advantages of the new product
Reliability: The new breakage detector makes regular manual inspection unnecessary. An alarm will be triggered in the central
control room if there is breakage detected in the sieve piece, thus reducing the intensity of staff’s involvement, the amount of materials
that have to be reworked and resulting in lower production costs and higher productivity.

Easy installation: The detector can be installed between the packing auger and the charging door of the hoister without much change of
the previous arrangement.
An example: application of the sieve breakage detectors in a large domestic feed company
Before use:
Manual inspection of the particle size of the crushed materials, possible breakage of the mesh was required every 30 minutes. However,
reworking inevitably occurred owing to sieve breakage.
After use:
The detector has been in the normal service condition, completely manual inspection;
More than 30 times the sieve breakage detector has successfully located the broken mesh without human inspection involved in the
checking of the particle size. No coarse particles resulting from the broken sieve screen were found in the finished feed.

China Releases its China Agricultural
Outlook Report 2016-2025
April 22-23, 2016, at the China Agricultural Outlook Conference
hosted by the Market Early Warning Expert Committee, Ministry
of Agriculture (MOA) the 2016-2025 version of China Agricultural
Outlook Report was released.
The Report which forecasts the market situation in the next ten
years marks the preliminary launch of China’s agricultural outlook
activities, indicating that China’s global system for agricultural
research and analysis is witnessing solid progress. The Report
analyses the market trends of the major agricultural products
in terms of production, consumption, trade and price. The
characteristics and trends of the market stated in the Report are of
significant meaning to the production and operating activities of
the market players.
Corn
Planted area first down in the last 12 years
According to the forecast of China Agricultural Outlook Report,
the planted area of corn will decline for the first time in the last 12
years; the supply and demand gap will occur in 2018 and in the
period from 2020-2025 the production of corn would post a slow
recovery.
During the 12th Five-Year Plan period, both the planting area
and the output of corn in China registered fast growth. Owing to
the domestic slower economic growth and plummet of global
oil prices, the consumption of corn in Chinese market has been
weak with an averaged consumption of about 180 million tons.
These factors combined with a change of farmers’ behavior toward
grain storage lead to continuous increase of national corn stocks.
Meanwhile, in the last five years the net import volume of corn
totaled up to 17.25 million tons because of the inversion of prices
between domestic and overseas markets.
During the 13th Five-Year Plan period, the planting area and
production of corn in China are expected to decrease as a result
of structural change and lower oil prices. By 2020, the acreage
and yield of corn are expected to be 85.02 million acres and
20,567 million tons respectively, down 10% and 8% respectively
from 2015. However, influenced by population growth, increasing

urbanization, improvement of life in the
countryside and the upgrade of resident
consumption structure, the consumption
of corn in the Chinese market will show
restorative growth with an averaged annual
growth rate of 3%. By 2018, the demand for
corn will surpass the production and the gap
will reach more than 1,600 million tons by
2020.
As the pressure from the corn stocks will
be relieved during the 13th Five-Year Plan
period, the industrial consumption of corn
will likely be slightly reduced. It is forecasted
that the industrial consumption of corn will
be 55.30 million tons, down 0.8% from 2016.
The increasing demand will also encourage
the increasing pace of imports. By 2025,
China will import up to two million tons of
corn.
Soy bean
Planting area might increase
As predicted by the Report, in the 13th Five-
Year Plan period and beyond into the next
ten years, soy bean production will be back
to the normal course of restorative growth.
In 2016, the planting area of corn might
witness its first growth in the last six years.
More consumption and imports is expected
for the domestic market but the pace will
slow down.
The duration of 12th Five-Year Plan was
accompanied by continuous decline in
the production and significant increase of
the import of soy bean. The acreage went
down 6.5% from 19.44 million acres in 2011
to 16.28 million acres in 2015; the output
decreased 19.8% from 1,449 million tons in
2011 to 1,161 million tons in 2015. In the
meantime, the demand for protein feed in
animal husbandry boosts the consumption
of soy bean steadily. From 2011-2015, the
total consumption of soy bean summed up
to 400 million tons with an annual growth of
5.3%. Total imports of soybean from 2011-
2015 stayed at 328 million tons with an
annual import growth of 11.6%.
The report states that in 2016 the soybean
acreage will reach17.00 million acres, up
70.84 million acres from 2015 as a result
of the temporary storage policy and the
mix of crops planted in the “sickle shaped
areas, namely the cold are in the Northeast,
the agro-pastoral transition zone in the
North, the arid area in the Northwest, area
along the Taihang Mountain and the rocky
desertification area in Southwest of China.
The upturn of acreage was the first increase
since 2009. Driven by the demand for feed
protein, soy meal and edible vegetable oil,
it is expected that China will consume 9,169
million tons of soybean, up 2.4% year-on-
year. Among the total amount consumed,
87.5% wil l be accounted by crushing
industry. And the use of soy bean in crushing
industry is expected to increase 2.3% to 8,019
million tons in 2016. The imports of soybean
will add up to 8,228 million tons in 2016.
During the span of five years from 2020
to 2025, the soybean acreage will reach
19.27 million acres, increasing 2.29 million
acres. Supported by increasing incomes
and urbanization, urban and rural residents
will consume more meat, dairy products,
edible vegetable oil and vegetable protein,
further driving the consumption of soybean.
As forecasted by the Report, by year 2025
China’s annual consumption of soybean will
be 108 million tons.
In his speech at China Agricultural Outlook
Conference, Han Changfu, Minister of
agriculture of MOA stressed that China
needs to step up the agricultural supply-
side structural reform to promote the
adaptability and flexibility of agricultural
supply. According to Mr. Han, with the
market demand used as a beacon, the
attention should be paid to the adjustment
and optimization of variety structure,
quality, industry structure and the supply
of innovative products for customers; the
attention should also be focused on the use
of "big data" and the decision making based
on data.
At the 2014 China Agriculture Outlook
Conference held in Beijing on April, 20, Xu
Shiwei, Director General of Agricultural
Information Institute (AII), released the China
Agriculture Outlook Report (2014-2023),
the first of its kind in China. The Report is
a reflection of progress made by China’s
agriculture monitoring and early-warning
system and efforts to predict market trends
and adapt to the international markets.
