Dear Spring Hills Residents, Families , and Friends:
Fall can be a difficult time of year for many reasons. I think it is important to know that it is normal and you’re not alone or unique in these feelings. SAD- Seasonal Affective Disorder is a real condition that is related to the changes in the season. SAD is the natural reaction to longer nights and less sunlight. Sun Lamps and nutrition along with vitamin supplements can help with this, but in more severe cases anti-depressants may be appropriate.
On our end to help combat those blues, we believe our Thanksgiving celebration is a perfect remedy! Please look forward to inviting guests to the Thanksgiving celebration which will take place on Wednesday November 16th at 4:30 pm for Spring Cottage and Thursday November 17th from 4:30-6:30 pm for Assisted Living. These festivities are sure to be uplifting and enjoyable! There will be more details soon. Please RSVP to the front desk, Michele or Francesca for these events.
Additionally , we’d like to enlist the support of ALL of our families to participate in the upcoming Alzheimer’s Walk to take place at Spring Hills on Friday November 4th Please join the Recreation Department at 1pm to walk ,raise awareness, and funds for Alz.org. Saturday November 12th is the walk in Philadelphia this walk is a fun and enjoyable way to spend an afternoon while benefiting such a worthy cause. Please contact Maureen Rowen for more details.
Spring Hills is hosting a Veterans Medal Ceremony with Col. Bancroft for are men and women who have served our Country on Monday November 7th at 11:00 am until 1:00 pm . Craig from Vitas will also be a guest speaker on Veterans Benefits. There will be a light luncheon and music with Mark Dezzi following the ceremony. Please contact Maureen Rowen for more details.
Lastly, the next Family Connection Support group for Alzheimer’s will take place on Thursday November 16th at 6:30 pm with Nicole from Home Care , Melonie from MVNA, and Christen Social worker with recreation department. We encourage all families to attend and please feel free to offer topics for future discussions!
