Smooth data transfer, accurate reporting tools, CAD interfaces and tight security are just a few of the many features of Estimator. The smooth operation of any construction program depends on accurate, reliable estimation. With this purpose in mind, Estimator was developed for transportation agencies and their design consultants. Estimator is an interactive, Windows™-based, stand-alone cost estimation system for highway construction. It features a modern and intuitive graphical user interface that simplifies and streamlines the preparation of detailed estimates. Estimator supports several methods of price derivation, including: The bid-based method where the item is priced using average or regression-based bid histories; The cost-based (or cost sheet) method where the item is priced based on crew configuration, labor rates, equipment rental, etc.; The reference price method where the item is priced using a previously established reference price via a look-up table; and The ad hoc method where prices of items are determined and are adjusted based on the estimator’s personal knowledge of the items and project. Estimator interfaces with various computer-aided design (CAD) systems to obtain item quantity information for deriving unit prices and therefore offering a complete solution for your design and estimation teams. It stores master data for producing estimates in one or more catalog files. The catalog files include standard construction items, wages, production rates, historical item price estimation data, and equipment and material costs. This data is effortlessly applied in the estimation process. Each of the estimation methods available in Estimator is easily applied and information can be readily shared. Reference data in Estimator • Stand-alone Windows ® -based program • Produces item-level cost estimates • Supports bid-based estimation • Supports cost-based estimation, calculating materials, labor and equipment components • Supports reference price estimation • Supports ad-hoc estimation • Interfaces with computer- aided design systems • Produces clear and accurate reports • Supports XML file transfer • Allows for secure file transfer • Used by 25 transportation agencies • Used by more than 500 design consultant firms

Accurate, reliable cost estimation is at your fingertips when you implement

Estimator™. Agencies and consultant firms can streamline the estimation process

with a simple interface and can choose from several proven estimation options

to ensure quality estimates that are produced with ease. Smooth data transfer,

accurate reporting tools, CAD interfaces and tight security are just a few of the

many features of Estimator.

The smooth operation of any construction program depends on accurate, reliable estimation. With this purpose in mind, Estimator™ was developed for transportation agencies and their design consultants. Estimator is an interactive, Windows™-based, stand-alone cost estimation system for highway construction. It features a modern and intuitive graphical user interface that simplifies and streamlines the preparation of detailed estimates.

Estimator supports several methods of price derivation, including:

• The bid-based method where the item is priced using average orregression-based bid histories;

• The cost-based (or cost sheet) method where the item is priced basedon crew configuration, labor rates, equipment rental, etc.;

• The reference price method where the item is priced using a previouslyestablished reference price via a look-up table; and

• The ad hoc method where prices of items are determined and areadjusted based on the estimator’s personal knowledge of the itemsand project.

Reference data in Estimator

is shared among workstations and/or offices with Intranet/Internet access to catalogs. Historical pricing information can be automatically applied in Estimator with very little effort. Reference prices may be used or ‘ad hoc’ data entry is permitted, if historical data is not present. Cost-based estimation techniques in Estimator are flexible, yet structured and simple to produce. Estimator also has built-in estimate verification functionality, which assists with finalizing the estimate by clearly identifying errors such as incompatible or incomplete data.

Clear and accurate reports are needed throughout the project estimation process. With the touch of a button, Estimator quickly produces a detailed cost estimate report that contains unit prices and identifies the price derivation method for each item.

Estimator supports XML technology, allowing for easy file transfer. Estimates can be exported as XML files and sent to other applications. Estimator also supports XML imports when you want to further refine an existing estimate. As with any application that transfers information, security is important. With Estimator, it’s easy to securely pass estimate files and catalogs between consultants and transportation agencies without having to change formats.

When you select Estimator as your cost estimation system, you can rest easy knowing that it is the industry leading application. Estimator is used by 25 transportation agencies and more than five hundred design consultants. Estimator is simple to implement and begins producing big time and cost savings immediately.
