Vera season 10 premiere SAT Aug 8 | 8pVeteran actor Brenda Blethyn returns as DCI Vera Stanhope in Season 10 of this popular mystery series. Unconventional and unadorned, Vera’s manner belies her knack for catching killers. In Episode 1, Vera and her team must unravel the circumstances surrounding the death of self-styled entrepreneur Freddie Gill, whose body is found by bailiffs attempting to repossess his house.
Endeavour season 7 premiere SUN Aug 9 | 9pIn Season 7, Endeavour and his colleagues enter a new decade of change. As the season opens on New Year’s Eve 1969, order has been restored and the team reunited at Castle Gate CID, with Chief Superintendent Bright back in charge. The events of the past year have left their mark, however: old friendships will be challenged, and new relationships will blossom. In an era increasingly defined by women’s liberation, social progress and scientific growth, the 1970s begin for Oxford’s finest with the discovery of a body on a canal towpath on New Year’s Day.
Lucy Worsley’s Royal Photo Album SUN Aug 23 | 8pHistorian Lucy Worsley uncovers the stories behind some of the most famous photographs of the British royal family. From Queen Victoria and Prince Albert through Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles and Princess Diana, Lucy shows how the royal family has always worked to create images that shape public perception of the British monarchy. Lucy also meets celebrated royal photographers Anwar Hussein and Chris Jackson to discover their approach to a royal photo shoot.

Shakespeare & Hathaway season 3 premiere THU Aug 13 | 9pShakespeare & Hathaway is a comedy/mystery series (think Father Brown and Midsomer Murders) set in Stratford-upon-Avon, where former police officer Frank Hathaway (Mark Benton) and his business partner Luella Shakespeare (Jo Joyner) run an unorthodox but highly successful private detective service. Among the cases the pair will tackle this season are an aging heavy-metal star who has entered into a pact with the devil, a Shakespeare museum full of deadly secrets, and even a King Lear story that involves a carpet warehouse.
The Sound of Music FRI Aug 14 | 9pBeloved by generations of audiences worldwide, The Sound of Music tells the inspiring true story of the von Trapp Family Singers and their escape from Austria during the rise of Nazism. This 2015 performance from the U.K. stars Kara Tointon as Maria and Julian Ovenden as Captain von Trapp.
Cinematically photographed on adjoining soundstages, the production offers a more naturalistic interpretation of this great classic of the American musical theater. Songs include “My Favorite Things,” “Climb Ev’ry Mountain,”
“Edelweiss” and more.

The Swamp TUE Aug 18 | 9pThe history of the Florida Everglades is a dramatic yetlittle-known story of humanity’s attempt to conquer nature.
