Mustang Minutes         May 8th

  Bell Prairie Families,

Where has the time gone? The end of the 2016-2017 school year will soon come to a close, and what a fantastic year it has been! We have been celebrating our ongoing success this school year, and celebrations continued to soar at Bell Prairie!  We recognize our students who have excelled in the areas of Athletics, Service, and Academics at Bell Prairie! As a learning community, we celebrate the achievements of our students and staff and most importantly, we celebrate the process of learning and growing, focusing upon perseverance and not giving up even when things may be difficult. The celebrations continued throughout Bell Prairie thanks to our fabulous families and supportive PTA! Our Annual Bell Prairie Hoe Down was outstanding and we are incredibly grateful to our PTA for hosting this event. It was fun to have our school community together for food, games, and fun. Our PTA, once again, purchased field day t-shirts for the entire school to wear on Field Day.  We have been truly spoiled this year by our involved PTA, and we appreciate all you do for our school! As we prepare for the final weeks of school, it has been an important tradition to celebrate staff members who are set to retire or embark on new adventures at year's end. Please help me send off the following staff members as they say farewell to Bell

Prairie: Mrs. Boryanan, Mrs. Calixte, Mrs. Kaden, Mrs. Lanigan, and Ms. Loucks. All 5th grade parents are invited to attend the Farewell to Bell Assembly on May 19th at 9:30 in the gym.  This will be a time for all students and staff to recognize our 5th grade students.  This is a change from the end of the year assembly in the past.  We will recognize other students during our quarterly, grade level, principal chats.  Fifth Grade parents who plan to attend the assembly, please bring a photo ID and plan to check in at the office. The Final walk for our Bell Prairie 5th grade students will be held on May 25th at 12:15. All students will line the halls of Bell Prairie as our 5th grade students do one final walk.  5th grade Parents are also welcome to attend.  All students will return to classroom for dismissal.  In reflecting upon this school year, it is clear our community truly values the Bell Prairie learning community. We want to personally thank you for your partnership in shaping this school year into one focused upon academic success and personal growth for each and every student. We are thankful to have such a strong community surrounding our school, and we appreciate your dedication and commitment.  Sincerely, Jessica and Melissa

Dear Parents, Spinners are a popular item at our school and amongst most kids right now. The intended purpose of these devices in the educational setting is to "help kids with behavior or learning differences to calm their minds so that they can focus on their schoolwork." Unfortunately, the spinners being brought to school have become more of a distraction than a learning aide. Students are playing with them as a toy instead of working. Therefore, as a school we are asking your students to keep them at home. If they come to school and are out during the school day, the teacher will hold on to them until a parent can retrieve them. If your child has a medical or educational diagnosis, and you feel that the spinner could help them, then feel free to contact your child's teacher about setting up a meeting to include it as an accommodation in his/her IEP or 504 plan.Thank you for your support!
