The Hideout is a very welcoming and organized ranch that is willing to do anything and everything reasonably possible to ensure you have a great visit. The Hideout is filled with charming and knowledgeable staff that are very approachable, friendly and helpful. One of the wranglers even helped me out when I got my car stuck in the snow.

From the moment I got off the plane, The Hideout helped me with my bags and loaded my things in the Ranch Vehicle. Once I got in the ranch vehicle and started on the road, I was educated and invited to learn all the neat things there was to learn about Wyoming. The Hideout taught me

about the town of Cody including; the legendary Buffalo Bill Irma Hotel and Amazing Buffalo Bill and Whitney Gallery of western art museum. I also learned about the wild mustangs roaming around the country side close to The Hideout Ranch, which you can sometimes see if you’re watching closely enough.

As we drove up to the Ranch, I was in awe as to how big the ranch was. There are many things to do and explore at this 300,000 acre Ranch, being not only a fully operating dude ranch but also a fully functioning cattle and Farming Ranch as well. It is a true art to be able to run a ranch like The Hideout.

There seems to be renovations and improvements done constantly to ensure that guests have the absolute best of both worlds; spectacular views and top notch accommodations.

Once I was welcomed into my beautiful Ritz Carlton-style home accommodations, I was attentively looked after to be sure that all my needs were met.

The Hideout truly exceeded my expectations, starting with the beautiful house, which is fully furnished and is really like walking into my own home.

Anything I could possibly need in a home is all included at the Hideout home, From hairdryers, robes, cups, coasters, pots, pans, plates, silverware, knives, Tupperware containers, to sandwich

bags, you cannot outsmart The Hideout, they thought of it all, including; a fully stocked laundry room with detergent and the works. The Hideout is truly a home away from home.

Peter Cabooter and Marjin Werquin are also two very loving and charming people. The knowledge they have about The Big Horn basin, the wild mustangs, and Wyoming history is comparable to going back in time and exploring the land for yourself.

The proof of Wyoming’s history and age comes from all the dinosaurs dig sites that you can go and explore not too far from the ranch. The Dinosaur track site discovered on the ranch property is called Red Gulge Dinosaur Track Site.

Peter stated, “It is world renowned and The Smitsonian museum experts and experts from around the world worked on establishing the visiting center. We take guests to the dig sites where they can see real life digging and they (mostly young boys) can assist in digging for a day or an afternoon with the team of my friend Bob Simon of www.dinosafaris.com who dug up a couple years ago the most complete (90%) Camarasaurus, which now resides in a Tokio museum. Other world-renowned dinosaurs coming from the valley are Big Al (meat eating Allosaurus)”. The dinosaurs dig site (Red Gulch track site) is a really nice place to take the kids as they grab archeological digging tools and help find new fossils. The Hideout provides so much history that is so easily missed if you don’t stop by and visit.

The horseback riding is also incredible with such diverse, breath taking views. One moment you can be galloping through the snow, and the next you can be cruising along in 75 degree weather, enjoying the Red Rock formations. The hideout often trailers guests to different spots to ride in order for the guests to get a different experience each time you ride. I was told that you never go on the same ride twice, during your whole visit. The hideout will be sure to give you the ride of your life, even down to some sharp looking chinks, which you can rent from the ranch. The Hideout even has custom made, extra comfort saddles, which can be upgraded from the provided custom saddles.

While I was at The Hideout I was taken out on an exciting ride with Marjin. Marjin will frequently take guests out for a ride during the season, which is a very unique experience to have co-owners ride out with you. On my ride, we did a considerable amount of loping, which is more than I had expected from the typical rides that everyone is used to, where horses are nose to tail and only get about 1 or 2, 10-20 second lopes. I was also blown away by the responsiveness and good training of my horse. This horse did not feel like a normal dead head ranch horse.

The hideout takes pride in their Authentic Horsemanship horse training program. All the wranglers have a knowledge of the program and go through a class in order to be effective not only on horseback, but also in ensuring guests are safe and successful on their horse. The dude horses on the ranch go through and are trained through the Authentic Horsemanship program, which explains why these horses are so responsive but yet are docile enough for the novice rider. Be sure to stretch those legs out because you will be working every muscle as you gallop off into the mountains in search of cows or just because you can.

Some of Shells old cowboys can also be spotted and will talk to you about the old cowboy days and campfire worthy stories. The Hideout took me to “Dirty Annies”, which was a charming and authentic little place where you can enjoy a meal or just mingle with some of the locals in the area. Peter also took me on a cruise into town and showed me some of the renovations of the old convenience store that The Hideout now owns, in the main square. It was nice to see that The Hideout is also helping out the community by recovering some of these old buildings and bringing them back to life.

While I was at The Hideout I met many neat, homely and welcoming local people, and by the time I left, I had made many new friends. The Hideout Ranch was truly an amazing experience and is a place I look forward to visiting again soon.

Eaton’s Ranch, Where they first came up with the word “dude” in dude ranching, is just eighteen miles from Sheridan Wyoming. Sheridan Wyoming is a very nice little town which meets any travelers’ needs. Sheridan has stores such as, Wal-Mart supercenter, Kmart, Safeway, and King’s Saddlery and Shipton’s Big R for those of you who need to get dolled up in you western gear.

When I first pulled into Eaton’s Ranch, I was warmly welcomed and felt right at home. The staff was very helpful, informative, and attentive to my questions and needs. Eaton’s Ranch having such a historical background and being visited by respectable people such as “Roosevelt”, you can’t help but feel like you’re going back in time to the old cowboy days. This cozy ranch, tucked away by the majestic and serene Big Horn Mountains, has much to offer with, breathtaking view, fresh clean air and truly a refreshing and rejuvenating place to stay.

After a brief tour around the main lodge, I was led upstairs to my newly renovated Main House Suite. I really enjoyed my stay in the Main House Suite, because you feel like you’re staying in an upstairs room of a saloon in an old western movie.

One of the things I liked about my room, aside of the comfortable and spacious bed, was how my room had an old fashioned bath tub with a wrap around curtain and a nice big shower head.

I have always wanted to try out one of these showers and it was really a nice authentic touch to my room.

During the day I came downstairs for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Downstairs coincidentally also has a newly renovated saloon area where I enjoyed the company of Eaton’s employee,

Bonnie and other guests. This was another example as to how this ranch fits perfectly with the Old western movie theme that I was commenting on earlier. Ins. Pic. Saloon

I have seen in some places that you almost feel obligated to go to all the activities that are being offered so that you get the most bank for your buck. At Eaton’s Ranch I find that the main focus is for you to get away to a beautiful part of Wyoming and recharge. You can get as involved or uninvolved as you want.

If you’re visiting Eaton’s Ranch as a family, it truly is a perfect atmosphere to reconnect and spend some quality fun family time. Eaton’s Ranch also feels much like a family reunion setting, with a lot of fun little activities such as; arts and crafts, scavenger hunts, nature hikes, tie-dying, and movie-and-popcorn night. The only difference with your own family reunion at your grandparents house and Eaton’s Ranch, is that you don’t have to worry about supplying anything or cleaning up the mess afterwards. You can even spend some time with the kids and then let some of the Ranch staff do some fun kids activities while you go and spend some much needed time with your spouse.

Some other fun activities include: Hiking, bird watching, hot tubing, horseshoes, ping pong, volleyball, softball, barbecues, Dances, Bingo, Shopping, and visiting museums. Eaton’s Ranch also takes daily trips into Sheridan where you can do all your shopping and visit the museums. If you got your best outfit dirty and need it dry cleaned, no problem, Eaton’s Ranch will take it into town for you to get it dry-cleaned. Now that is service!

Mary, being a fifth generation Eaton was so kind and full of knowledge answering any questions I had about Eaton’s Ranch and neighboring areas. The Eaton Family are a very humble and caring people who have a passion for introducing people to the originality of dude ranching. Many new ranches have embraced and implemented modern concepts into their ranches, where Eaton’s Ranch has managed to maintain their authenticity, with cozy cabins, some dating back to the early 1900’s.

Eaton’s Ranch is also one of the few Ranches that allow experienced riders to take their own horses out for a self guided ride. With 51 cabins available, each cabin has their own character and something different to offer, ensuring that there will be a cabin that will fit your desires and taste.

On my last day at the Ranch I enjoyed walking along Wolf Creek and spotting frequently visiting wildlife, such as white tail deer. Ins. Pic. deer. As I was leaving, the staff was very helpful and sincerely interested in giving me directions on how to safely get to where I was going. I left Eaton’s Ranch with a huge smile on my face and feeling that it is such a warm and homely ranch. What a unique experience to come and visit.

Red Reflet, What can I say about this ranch, but Wow. This Luxury resort guest ranch definitely meets the needs of those who want to have a high end modern ranch experience. Located outside of the little town of Ten Sleep, This beautiful ranch has the perfect concept of quiet and private.

When I arrived at Red Reflet I was definitely surprised by all the beautiful panoramic views that the main lodge has to offer. The food is also to perfection as most of the produce comes from the ranches own private green house. Even the eggs at the ranch come from their own chickens.

The accommodations (chalets) are very modern and private. The owner of the ranch, Bob Kaplan designed each one of these beautiful Chalets and main lodge. As I talked to him, he had taught me that as he designed each building with the vision of bringing the outside beauty into each space. Bob told me that most of the interior spaces we’re used to, focus on keeping the inside separate from any outside influence. In each of the Red Reflet structures, there are floor to ceiling windows with breathtaking views and a refreshing and rejuvenating environment. Not to worry, each of the 5 chalets are designed and spread out to ensure privacy and the best views from every angle.

In this fully stocked Chalet, I was able to enjoy high speed internet, (as the ranch has its own internet that blankets the whole ranch), DirectTV, and even my own private phone line. The chalet is stocked with all your necessities including; a fully stocked kitchen, laundry room, games and puzzles in the family room, and toiletries such as; shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, blow dryer, and even specific things like feminine products in case of emergency for us ladies who sometimes forget to pack these kinds of things. Wow, how refreshing is this, that Red Reflet has thought of everything. There is even a hot tub at every chalet for your own personal

use. No need to share or wait your turn, you can enjoy your hot tub experience at your leisure without worrying about being intruding.

Another thing that shocked me was when I went into the fridge and noticed that it was fully stocked with all of my necessities. Red Reflet has its guests fill out a questionnaire that includes all of your desired foods and make sure that you have all your favorites in your refrigerator when you come into your chalet. What a neat addition to an amazing experience. Breakfast is self prepared, while Lunch and dinner is prepared by the ranch. Not to worry, Housekeeping will do your dishes for you. A really neat thing about lunch and dinner is that Bob and Laurence are there and are more than happy to talk to you about the ranch and answer any questions you may have.

Now as hard as it is to believe, Red Reflet is also a working cattle ranch. Some of these purebred Angus cows serve as a source of whole foods for guests, with no antibiotics or hormones. You can also cowboy up and throw on some chinks ins. pic from Red Reflet’s gift shop and go out with the cowboys and move cows and check fences. With over 27,000 acres of un-manicured property of red rimrock, rolling foothills, aspen forest, limestone canyons, and mountain meadows you can choose to cowboy on horseback and explore, hike, or 4-Wheel or Dirt bike around. Yes, I said 4-Wheel and Dirt bike. When you come into the ranch you can choose your toy and it’s yours till you leave the ranch.

Some other neat perks to coming and visiting Red Reflet is the Theatre room in the main lodge with approx 100 movies for kids to choose from and DirectTV, swimming in their 30 ft pool, shoot at their rifle range or skeet shoot, mountain bike, enjoy their fitness center, fly fishing in either a practice pond, reservoirs for pan fishing, or amazing fishing with brown and rainbow trout, and even a zip line. Wow a zip line, yes you can enjoy Red Reflets 4 course zip line as you fly through the air.

The thing that I learned most about this ranch and part of their ranch slogan is to “do what you want when you want to”. This really is a ranch that is geared toward you doing what you want when you want to, from all the activities provided, even down to when you want to have lunch and dinner. There is no set time for anything. Red Reflet works around your schedule and will accommodate to when and where you want to do things. Between the breath taking scenery, beautiful chalets, and accommodating staff, Red Reflet is a ranch to definitely add to your go to list.
