BVE Students Advance to National Geography and History Bees
Our annual “Career
Day” was a PHENOME-
NAL success! See some
great pictorial highlights
on the reverse! This Friday, March 27th, BVE fifth-grader
Landon Miller will represent BVE as a semi-
finalist at the State Geography Bee in Jackson,
MS! He will be competing for a spot in the
National Bee, to be held later this spring.
In addition, both Landon and BVE 4th –
grader Daniel Odenthal finished in the top 10
in the regional History Bee in Baton Rouge
earlier this month. Both have qualified to
compete in the National History Bee in St.
Louis, Missouri later this summer.
We are SO PROUD of our BVE scholars,
and wish them the VERY best of luck as they
represent our school and community!
SLOTS ARE AVAILABLE, but they’re going FAST!
See Director JANICE HATHCOCK in the BVE Gym
in the afternoons between 2:30 and 5:30 for more infor-
mation.
We’d LOVE to see your children at Gulfport’s TOP sum-
mer camp program; come see what we’re all about!

Career Day 2015 a HUGE Success! Thanks to All!
From “Careers on Wheels” (Grades K-3) to the Career Exploration Component (Grades 4 & 5), the day was a
phenomenal success, thanks to Coordinator Lyanne Dowling and her incredible team of community volunteers.
MANY thanks to the following for donating vehicles for our “Careers on Wheels”: Coast Transit Authority, Mis-
sissippi Power, Gulfport Police Department, ConWay Freights, American Medical Response and the Gulfport
Fire Department. Thanks goes to the awesome job done by our GHS student presenters from our 3 Academic
Academies: CAB (Communication, Art, and Business), STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math),
and HHS (Health and Human Sciences). Mrs. Dowling would also like to give a special thank-you to our PTA
for providing lunch for our high school volunteers and snacks for presenters, and to Beth Wilson, all activity
teachers, and our grade-level assistants for their help during the day’s events. We also say “thank you” to
WXXV for their great televised coverage of our event!
