MAY 2021 VILLAGE OF EVENDALE

Dear Neighbors and Friends,

Silco Fire & Security Cincinnati is having its grand opening of its new building on May 21st. It is

going to be kind of different; they are going to have a “wet-down.” It is what new military pilots do

after their first solo flight. They get wet down by a firehose. So I guess we are going to “wet-down”

the front door? We will see.

We have been approved for two electric vehicle charging stations on the Municipal grounds. They

will be placed by the police garage. I can see a time when the Village may buy electric vehicles in

the future. The Police, Fire, Service, and Recreation Departments are all candidates. Their vehicles

travel short distances for the most part. I can see the Federal government going big in this field.

Yes, your tax dollars at work.

Whenever you receive money from the Federal government, the paperwork that comes with it is an

overwhelming amount. The COVID funds we received is no exception. Fortunately, our Chief Fiscal

Officer and our fire chief have kept up with it. And as usual with the Feds, they keep changing the

rules to receive our $500,000 for the $1.8 trillion American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) recently passed

Congress. Again we will have much bookkeeping to work on. However, the Ohio Municipal League

is very good at guidance. It is dues well spent.

I looked out my window which overlooks the main ballfield on our campus. Lo and behold there was

a team practicing and the coach was using an automatic machine to throw flyballs to the

outfielders. What ever happened to the fungo bat? Remember them?

Lastly, Duke has started construction of the pipeline under Reading Road even though we DO NOT

have a decision from the Ohio Supreme Court. None the less, you may want to watch their

progress. Big equipment and big pipes, my great-grandson will be in 7th heaven.

Sincerely,

Your Mayor

Tips on Residential Fence Installations

Residential fences are one of the most common home im-

provement projects a property owner undertakes. Most eve-

ry community has some standards with regards to fences,

and Evendale is no different. If you are thinking of installing

a new fence, or replacing an old one, please keep these

points in mind:

A Building Permit is required prior to construction. A

small fee applies.

Any fence must be 70% transparent (e.g. ornamental

metal, Kentucky board, split-rail, etc.). Privacy and

chain-link fences are NOT PERMITTED.

The maximum height is 4 feet at the property line, but 6

feet if setback at least 10 feet away from the property

line.

The fence may include a coated mesh material that pre-

vents animals from escaping the yard.

Fences are permitted in the side and rear yard only.

The Village does not provide surveys of property bounda-

ries.

As noted above, a Building Permit is required prior to con-

struction. You may obtain a permit or ask a question by con-

tacting the Building Department via phone (513-956-2665)

or email ([email protected]). The process to obtain

a permit is easy and can usually be completed in 24-48

hours. Thank you for keeping Evendale beautiful!

FIRE DEPARTMENT The Evendale Fire Department would like to

thank Captain Dennis Brown for his 25

years of service to the Village. Dennis

began his career on January 1, 1996 as

a firefighter paramedic with the village

and was promoted to Lieutenant in

2002. He was promoted to Captain in

2012. He also served as one of the

department specialists conducting fire

safety inspections. Dennis is the current

fire chief at the city of Wyoming and will

continue his professional career in that

capacity. We wish him a great

retirement from the village and a healthy

career at Wyoming FD.
