What is Vine?• Vine is a video recording social media website that allows

users to create six second videos that are able to be shared and liked by other users.

• Vine was first created January 24th, 2013 and became the most downloaded app in April 2013.

• Vine includes many different categories of videos like comedy, animals, music, art, dance, sports, OMG (which is a trending subject), family, food, DIY, places, news and the zone.

Who Uses Vine?• Many different people use Vine for many reasons but

according to demographics Vine is used by about 40 million people around the ages of 18 to 20 years old.

• 64% of these people are consumers, making Vine a great place to market.

• News stations, Hospitals, Businesses, Artists, Singers, Video editing specialists all use Vine to promote themselves.

Uses of Vine• There are many different uses of Vine. Some of these are to

promote oneself or business, social gain, entertainment, obtain information, visual walk throughs, and even education purposes.

• Like Twitter, Vine has become essentially to live reporting. For example many field reporters will take a quick Vine to show the area they are reporting from, like the stadium of a sports game.

• Many users also use it for self creativity. Six second singing covers are a common example of that.

• Some of the best ways to use Vine are to connect different two second clips together to tell a story. For example a straight stream of the same thing for six seconds could be confusing if it's not something interesting so Vine allows you to start a clip from one angle and then stop and record from another angle and it will just jump from both clips.

Best Practices• Vine’s best practices are to entertain, be instructional, to obtain

news, show creativity amongst users, market campaign, and learn.

• This is because Vine is only six seconds which will keep the watcher’s attention for the whole time. For example no one is going to want to watch an add for longer than six seconds that’s why YouTube offers the skip add button.

• It’s also great for helping campaign during elections. There have been many Vines posted showing the highlights of the presidential debates.
