A full or paral refund will be granted when: VDOF is unable to fill the order due to the unavailabilty of quality seedlings, VDOF made an error when placing the order, VDOF personnel determined that the seedlings were damaged in transit, or VDOF personnel failed to fulfill wrien or implied contractual arrangements for planng or site preparaon. • A refund will be granted with a $20 service fee deducted when the landowner cancels the order within 30 days of placing the order. • A refund will be granted with a 50% restocking fee or $20 service fee (whichever is higher) when the landowner cancels the order between 31 to 59 days aſter placing the order. • A refund will be granted with a 90% restocking fee or $20 service fee (whichever is higher) when the landowner cancels the order aſter 60 days of placing the order and before January 15. • No refunds aſter February 1st. • The Department of Forestry assumes no responsibility or liability for the planng of any tree seedlings, and, in the sale thereof, makes no warranes, expressed or implied, of merchantability or fitness for a parcular purpose, and makes no warranes regarding the survival or rate of growth of any seedlings. • Prices subject to change without noce. As a direct means of re-establishing forests on lands in Virginia, the Department of Forestry, hereaſter referred to as the Department, grows tree seedlings for sale at cost to private and public landowners for foresng lands in Virginia. Virginia Department of Forestry Augusta Forestry Center PO Box 160 Crimora, VA 24431 Introduction The Virginia Department of Forestry has been growing seedlings for Virginia landowners for more than 100 years. When you put your money in the ground in the form of seedlings, you need to start with the best stock available; stock suited for Virginia soils and climate. The cultural pracces that we use in growing seedlings in our seedbeds are based on more than 60 years of research and experience in quality producon. In addition to the wide selection of bare-root seedlings, we also offer specialty seedling packs suitable for various wildlife habitats. Our seedlings are sold directly from the seedbed without replanng, and seedling age is indicated with 1-0, 2-0 and 3-0 (one-, two- and three-year-old). This year we are also offering containerized longleaf pine seedlings. These seedlings must be picked up at the Garland Gray Forestry Center. Further informaon on these is located in this price guide. Please visit our website where you will find a host of informaon about the species we offer, seedling sizes and view images of many species. While you’re there, go ahead and place your order through our convenient web store. This Seedling Price Guide provides pricing for more than 40 species of seedlings that have been grown at one of Virginia’s two State Forestry Centers: the Augusta Forestry Center, near Waynesboro, and the Garland Gray Forestry Center near Petersburg. For other conservation/reforestation projects, contact your area forester. All orders, except for containerized loblolly pine, made from this brochure or on-line will be shipped from the Augusta Forestry Center via United Parcel Service delivery. The mission of the Cooperave is to economically increase forest producvity through the genec manipulaon of loblolly pine populaons. Enhanced producvity through breeding, selecng and deploying superior loblolly pine families is a major goal of the Cooperave. Benefits of Virginia Tree Improvement Research • Due to the cooperave sharing of genec material, all of the best families that are suitable for Virginia are in our program. • Selecons have connuously placed extra emphasis on properes (straightness, crown characteriscs) desirable for solid wood products. • Some families from other provenances and cold hardiness zones either fail in Virginia or perform erracally. Advantages of Our Genetically Improved Loblolly Pine • Improved genecs for fast-growing, straight and disease-resistant seedlings. • Increased growth and yield over unimproved seedlings: Based upon field trials through age six, Loblolly Pine Premium Open Pollinated (OP) provides a 50% gain or higher; Loblolly Pine Elite Open Pollinated (OP) provides a 60% gain or higher; Loblolly Pine Virginia’s Best Open Pollinated (OP) provides a 65% gain or higher, and Loblolly Pine Control Pollinated (CP) provides a 90% gain or higher. • Increased profits from improved growth. • Our seedlings go completely dormant before shipping, and fully dormant seedlings withstand shipment and planng significantly beer than non-dormant seedlings. • We top clip our seedlings, which controls the shoot/root rao contribung to excellent survival rates. • Limited supply due to scarcity of seed.
