Awards The Company received “Star Performer – Large Enterprise (Ferro Alloys)” award in the form of a Shield and a Certificate for Export Excellence for the year 2014-15, from EEPCINDIA, Chennai at the 39th Southern Region Export Awards presentation ceremony, held in Puducherry on 3rd March. The Company received this award for the 13th time.

Projects - Overseas The Reliability test and Performance Guarantee test for both the Units of 300 MW Power Plant at Maamba, Zambia were successfully completed.

Maamba Collieries Limited, Zambia is in the process of taking over the 300 MW Power Plant from the EPC Contractor.

Training

A training programme on “Change Management” was conducted by Mr.Jagadish Upadhyay, Training Consultant, for Staff of Nava Bharat, Paloncha, on 15th & 16th March.

An awareness programme on “Selection & Use of PPEs”, was conducted by Consultant from 3M India, Bhubaneswar, for the Staff of Odisha Works, on 1st March.

A training programme on “Electrical Cleaners and De-greasers” was conducted by Mr. Satish Agarwal, Marketing Manager, Corrosion Resistance Controller, Visakhapatnam, for all the Officers of Electrical & Instrumentation Department, Sugar Division, Samalkot, on 17th

March.

Management Systems

Surveillance & re-certification audits of QMS (ISO 9001), EMS (ISO 14001) and OHSMS (OHSAS 18001) were conducted at Sugar Division in February and March.

Convinced with the effective implementation of the above systems, the Auditors recommended continuation of the respective accreditations.

Celebrations The “46th National Safety week” was celebrated at all our units, from 4th to 9th March. On this occasion, safety oath was administered to employees and contract workers. Various competitions, mock drills and training programmes were conducted for propagating safety awareness. On this occasion, at Paloncha Works, Mr. B. Satyanarayana, Dy. Chief Inspector of Factories, Warangal, spoke on the significance of industrial safety. As part of the Safety Week Celebrations, 50 employees of Sugar Division, participated in a Walkathon (Walk for Safety) organized by Godavari EHS Association, Kakinada, on 8th March. The walkathon was flagged off by Mr.G. Balakishore, Director of Factories, Andhra Pradesh. Mr.J. Siva Shankar Reddy, Dy. Chief Inspector of Factories, Kakinada and Mr. K.B. Prasad, Inspector of Factories were invited to give their valuable suggestions on “Safety at Workplace”.

Celebrations contd….

At Odisha Works, Dy. Director of Factories & Boilers, Angul Division, Asst. Director of Factories & Boilers, Dhenkanal Zone participated in the closing ceremony and gave away prizes to the winners of various competitions conducted.

Nava Bharat Eye Center (NBEC) celebrated its 6th Annual Day, on 19th February. Mr. J. Ram Kishan, Joint Collector, Bhadradri Kothagudem District and Dr. Venkateswara Rao, District Medical and Health Officer were the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively.

Social Development The Paloncha Unit distributed 18 Nos. of K-Yan, a compact teaching aid (equipment), consisting of hi-tech projector with PC, a DVD writer, a TV tuner, in-built speakers, a 500 GB HDD, 3G internet, a wireless keyboard and a mouse, to various Government Schools, during the quarter.

K-Yan, while enabling a teacher to focus on teaching, brings an immersive classroom learning experience to students.

The equipment was handed over by the Mr.Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu, IAS, District Collector, Bhadradri Kothagudem District, to the Head Masters of the Schools spread over 5 mandals in and around Paloncha. The District Collector appreciated the Company’s efforts in improving the quality of education in Government Schools and informed that Nava Bharat was the first organization in Bhadradri Kothagudem District to initiate the supply of K-Yan. To provide safe drinking water at affordable cost, the Paloncha Unit installed three RO water plants around Paloncha. These water plants installed at Chunchupalli Thanda, Penagadapa and Burgampadu were inaugurated during March, by Mr. S. Raja Rao, Conservator of

District Revenue Officer & Mr. M. Ram Kishan, Joint Collector of Bhadadri Kothagudem respectively. The respective Sarpanch’s, MPTC & ZPTC Members and Villagers appreciated the efforts of the Company for installing safe drinking water plants in their villages. NBEIL, Paloncha, donated 1,523 dual desks to 35 Government Schools spread over 7 Revenue Mandals in Bhadradri Kothagudem district, in February. Mr. M. Ram Kishan, Joint Collector, handed over, through formal letters, the dual desks to the Headmasters of the Schools. He appreciated the steps taken by the Company in improving the infrastructure in the Government Schools.

NBEIL, distributed 3,800 mosquito nets to the villagers of 18 notified slum areas around Paloncha. Dr. B. Venkateswara Rao, District Medical and Health Officer, Bhadradri Kothagudem district, formally inaugurated the distribution of mosquito nets to the villagers at a function organized in the Yerragunta Village. He lauded the efforts made by the Company for improving health and hygiene in the area. NBEIL, constructed toilet blocks in 8 Government Schools situated at Ramavaram, Chunchupalli, Budidagadda, Srinivasa Nagar, Pusugudem, Mylaram, Sulanagar and Mutyalampadu.

These toilet blocks were handed over, through formal letters, by Mr. Ch. Hayagreevachary, District Educational Officer (DEO), Bhadradri Kothagudem at a programme organized in Government High School, Ramavaram, in February. The DEO, while expressing gratitude, stated that Nava Bharat is playing a very constructive role in promoting education. NBEIL, Paloncha, constructed an 800 meter long RCC feeder channel to Yerragunta Tank. This

would enable harvesting of rain water leading to

increased availability of water for cultivation from Yerragunta Tank, benefitting several small and marginal farmers covering 150 acres of cultivable land. Odisha Works organized an Eye Camp at Charadgadia village in association with GKMM Hospital, Dhenkanal, in March. A total of 90 villagers from Charadgadia and neighbouring villages attended the camp.

Education Nava Bharat Schools, Paloncha, celebrated the 38th Annual Day on 27th & 28th January. Dr. V. Krishna Reddy, Chairman, Board of Studies (Botany), Kakatiya University, graced the inaugural function as Chief Guest and gave away the prizes. Prof. Ramesh Ghanta, MANU University attended the Valedictory function as Chief Guest. The students presented Cultural Shows on both the days. Fourteen students of Bharat Scouts & Guides wing of Nava Bharat Public School (NBPS) represented Telangana State in National Jamboree held in Mysuru, Karnataka, from 29th December to 4th January. The students bagged several prizes in various events. In a maiden attempt, NBPS organized Camp on Campus (overnight stay) for the students of Class VI, on 10th February. As part of the event, during the night, dance, music, mock games, camp fire and movie show were organized and in the morning, jogging, yoga and gift giving ceremony were organized. Overall, it was an exciting, fun packed and memorable event for the students of Class VI. To facilitate the students to pursue their studies in a congenial and peaceful atmosphere, NBEIL, Paloncha, constructed a compound wall and did renovation of School Building of MPUP School,

Errangunta.
