PRAYER OF PRAISE

*Hymn 262 God of Ages

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION Lord Jesus, you taught us that in Your Kingdom, “Blessed are the poor in spirit”--but wehave been rich in pride. “Blessed are those who mourn”--but we have not known muchsorrow for our sin. “Blessed are the meek”--but we are rebellious by nature. “Blessed arethose who hunger and thirst for righteousness”--but we have great desire for evil and littlelonging for Your true goodness. “Blessed are the merciful”--but we are harsh andimpatient. “Blessed are the pure in heart”--but we have impure hearts. “Blessed are thepeacemakers”--but we have not sought reconciliation. “Blessed are those who arepersecuted because of righteouness”--but our lives do not challenge the world. “Blessedare you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against youbecause of me”--but we have hardly made it known that we are yours. Special Music: Dave Liles Humbly I adore Thee, Verity unseen,Who Thy glory hidest neath these shadowsmean,Lo, to Thee surrendered, my whole heart isbowed,Tranced as it beholds Thee, shrined within thecloud.

O memorial wondrous of the Lord’s owndeathLiving Bread, that gives all Thy creaturesbreath,Grant my spirit ever by Thy life may live,To my taste Thy sweetness never failing give.

Jesus, Whom now veiled, I by faith descry,What my should doth thirst for, do not, Lord deny,

That Thy face unveiled, I at last may see,With the blissful vision blest, my God, of Thee.
