Preparation for Worship:

~ 2 Corinthians 4:16-17

This morning’s sermon:

“Being the Son of...”Luke 3:21-28

Pastor Glenn Parkinson

So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting

away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this

light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal

weight of glory beyond all comparison...

Order of Worship

Entering God’s PresenceCall to Worship Hebrews 10:12-14

When Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, waiting from that time until his enemies should be made a footstool for his feet. For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified.

Prayer of Invocation

Mutual Greeting

Responsive Reading, Lori Crawford Hebrews 1:1-12

Leader: Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets,

People: but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world.

Leader: He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power.

People: After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,

Leader: having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs.

People: For to which of the angels did God ever say, “You are my Son, today I have begotten you”? Or again, “I will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a son”?

Leader: Of the angels he says, “He makes his angels winds, and his ministers a flame of fire.”

People: But of the Son he says, “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, the scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your kingdom.

Leader: You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness beyond your companions.”

People: And, “You, Lord, laid the foundation of the earth in the beginning, and the heavens are the work of your hands;

Leader: They will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment,

People: but you are the same, and your years will have no end.”

Leader: This is the Word of the Lord

People: Thanks Be To God

OffertoryLook, Ye Saints, the Sight Is Glorious

Look, ye saints, the sight is glorious: See the Man of Sorrows now; From the fight returned victorious.Every knee to him shall bow. Crown him! crown him! Crowns become the victor’s brow.

Crown the Saviour; angels, crown him; Rich the trophies Jesus brings; In the seat of power enthrone him, While the vault of heaven rings: Crown him! crown him! Crown the Savior, King of kings!

Sinners in derision crowned him, Mocking thus the Saviour’s claim; Saints and angels crowd around him, Own his title, praise his name: Crown him! crown him! Spread abroad the victor’s fame!

Hark! those bursts of acclamation, Hark! those loud triumphant chords! Jesus takes the highest station: O what joy the sight affords. Crown him! crown him! crown him! crown him! Crown him! crown him! King of kings and Lord of lords!

Gathering SongAll Must Be Well

Through the love of God our Savior,All will be well.Free and changeless is His favor, All is well.Precious is the blood that healed us;Perfect is the grace that sealed us;Strong the hand stretched forth to shield us;All must be well.

Though we pass through tribulation,All will be well.Ours is such a full salvation,All is well.Happy still in God confiding;Fruitful if in Christ abiding;Steadfast through the Spirit’s guiding; All must be well.

We expect a bright tomorrow; All will be well.Faith can sing through days of sorrow,All is well.On our Father’s love relying;Jesus every need supplying;Yes in living and in dying; All must be well.

Song of ResponsePraise the Father, Praise the Son

Oh sovereign God, Oh matchless King The saints adore, the angels sing And fall before the throne of grace To You belongs the highest praise These sufferings, this passing tide Under Your wings I will abide And every enemy shall flee You are my hope and victory

Praise the Father, praise the Son Praise the Spirit, Three in One Clothed in power and in grace The name above all other names

To the valley, for my soul Your great descent has made me whole Your word my heart has welcomed home Now peace like water ever flows

Yours is the kingdom Yours is the power Yours is the glory Forever

Sending HymnMy Hope is Built on Nothing Less

My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness;I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly lean on Jesus’ name. Chorus On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand; All other ground is sinking sand, all other ground is sinking sand. When darkness veils His lovely face, I rest on His unchanging grace; In ev’ry high and stormy gale, my anchor holds within the veil. His oath, His covenant, His blood, support me in the whelming flood; When all around my soul gives way, He then is all my hope and stay.

When He shall come with trumpet sound, O may I then in Him be found;Dressed in His righteousness alone, faultless to stand before the throne.

The Refuge

“All In” is the theme for The Refuge this year. It is based on 1 Timothy 4:12 & 15 “Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.” “Practice these things, immerse yourself in them, so that all may see your progress.”

Our Refuge Summer Build teams have been working with the Boy’s and Girl’s Club campers for the past four years raising support for camp scholarships. Many of you have been involved in this effort, and we thank you for your partnership.

Prayer is key to successfully fulfilling God’s great commission. We are asking all our SPEP brothers and sisters to partner with us in prayer as the Gospel is clearly presented during the Boy’s and Girl’s Club camp week July 31 thru August 4.

Take a copy of “The Story” from the pew back to help guide your prayers. Each day focus on a key part of the Gospel starting with God, the consequences of sin, Christ’s birth and life, His sacrificial death, and His resurrection as you pray for our summer build team and the campers. Thank you in advance for being a part of our outreach prayer team.
