COPYRIGHTEach entry must be original in concept, design, and execution Each entry must be original in concept, design, and execution and may not violate U.S. copyright laws. Any entry that has been copied from an existing photo or image (including a painting, graphic, or advertisement) that was created by someone other than the student is a violation of the competition rules and will not be accepted.

WWork entered must be in the original medium (that is, not a scanned reproduction of a painting or drawing). Artwork will hang in the Gallery for the length of the exhibition and cannot be returned to the students earlier. Students should, therefore, submit artwork they will not need for other purposes during the duration of the competition and gallery show.

VISUAL ARTS COMPETITION ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

While it is not the intent to censor any artwork, we do wish to avoid artwork that is potentially inappropriate for the display in this highly visited gallery area which is open to all ages at The Art Institute of California - Inland Empire Campus. Artwork must adhere to a policy of acceptable decorum. In accordance with this policy, exhibits depicting subjects of contemporary political controversy, obscenity or a sensationalistic or gruesome nature are not obscenity or a sensationalistic or gruesome nature are not allowed. It is necessary that all artwork be reviewd by the panel chaired by the director of the gallery and any portion not in consonance with the Committee’s policy will be omitted from the competition and the exhibit. JUDGING CRITERIAProfessionals with experience in (practicing, teaching, or representing) the categories will judge the competition. The judges will be from the design and art community and have years of experience with their field and selected by the Director of the Gallery. Judging will take place May 7th through May 9th, with the winner announcements at the Show May 10th.

The criteria used for judging is based on:

AWARDSTTuition scholarship prizes for the 1st – 3rd place and honorable mention per category, per grade level. Plus a special “Best in Show” and Student Audience Choice Award.

AAudience Choice Award - $1,000 Scholarship and will win for their high school, the Gallery to showcase their school, students, teachers, and program for a month (30 days) in the 2018 calendar year. The audience choice award is chosen by those individuals in attendance on the May 10th opening. Voting will take place on the day of May the 10th, 2018 and will conclude at 6pm. One vote per person. The winner of the Audience ChoiceAudience Choice Award will be announced on opening night.

DEADLINEEntries will only be accepted atEntries will only be accepted at The Art Institute of California - Inland Empire campus starting April 23 through May 3, 2018. Deliveries must be made to the campus during normal campus hours. A written receipt will be issued for each entry and the work will be photographed for condition the day of arrival to the campus.

Gallery DetailsEntries accepted for the 2018 Entries accepted for the 2018 Visual Arts Scholarship Competition will be on display for public viewing May 10 to June 21, at the Ai California - Inland Empire Visual Arts Gallery, 674 East Brier Drive, San Bernardino, CA. Remember that your art will be displayed at a professional art exhibit; therefore, presentation and preparation is important. Each work must have a label with information on student name, grade level, title, medium used, high school, name of instructoinstructor. For artwork preparation and hanging requirements please contact the Director of the Gallery for guidance and specific questions about the Gallery Show, 909-915-2100.
