DESCRIPTION

Unconventional pieces of art always catch my eyes. Art for me is beyond reality; it is where the extraordinary meets the ordinary. The uncertainty and mystery gives me a magical feeling. I enjoy expressing myself in my own enigmatic terms; where nothing is obvious or easy to understand. My work is ambiguous and involves references to the inner mind. That’s why my main influences were Surrealist artists such as Lucy McRae, Hans Bellmer and Sara Lucas. Every project has its own concept that I analyze in depth and learn new techniques with different materials. I enjoy investigating the idea behind an artwork and try to find out what the artist wants to express. To sum up, my work can be described as equivocal, because on the one hand it wants to expand but at the same time it creates a sense of encirclement.

“ “Cubism in Action” Size: 50x70 cm“Observational Collage Drawings” Medium: wrap paper, corks, glass, and acrylics

Shapes and colours inspired from Cubism.A still life composition came up giving the idea of an explosion. It could be a dynamic bottle opener or a female statue, like the figure of Minoan Snake Goddess.

Final piece “Exploded Godess” is an impressive female statue referring to a dynamic powerful sensation. Size: 1,95cm

“Three female statue openers”

“Women in Pain” Medium: plaster, nails, plastic forks, mirror, silk pa-per, model paper

After a cultural study, I realised how women were oppressed through the centuries. In the name of beauty they are trapped into fashion. Four different shoe models show in an extreme way in which women suffer, in order to be fashionable.

“Chastity belt”

Influenced by the medieval torture tools made of leather, nails and screws

“X-Ray Corset”

A corset idea in order to emphasize female’s obses-sion of beauty. Using a n X-ray to show the destroyed bones against nature. The corset tightly squeezes the inner organs and causes digestive problems.

“Oppressive Doll”

A glamorous dressed lady from the one hand side in contrast of her left hand side body which is naked and shows her destroyed squeezed organs inside her.

An architectural project that lead me to the creation of a neck-lace. Studying Calatravas bridges inspired me for a radical shape necklace, which will “protect” a female figure. I adjusted a seeming bridge on my arms like an impressive collar, which “rises” on the neck.

“Observational architectural drawings”Medium: pencil, plastic paper, ink, kitchen wire

“Protective Necklace”

“Workbook Pages”

Sketches and Ideas isnspired by the architectural proj-ect of giving shapes that explode and hems in.

“Past Vs Future” Time goes round; never stops but gives us limits. This is an album which brings us mem-ories and at the same time leads us to a mechanism to achieve our next goals. Inside the album represents a hard approach of the future as the mechanisms have a bureaucratic hierarchy whereas from the back of the album is a soft approach representing our past childhood.

“Blended elements” An installation was my final piece for that project as I used insulating material and gauze. Three hanging gears ending up in soft clothes; each one represents a sense or an element; sound, vision and motion

“ENDS” Medium: plaster, gauze, tights Size: 1,90cm

“Observational Paint-ings” Inspired by artists such as August Rodin, Lucian Freud and Giannis Moralis

Playing with the human body trying to reshape and manipulate legs and hands in order to give an ex-treme distorted human form influenced by Hans Bellmer and Sarah Lucas.

Observational idea from photoshooting.Oil and acrylics on a canvas.

“Photoshoot”

Series of photos taken to try to give different shapes of my model figure in a disorted way.Artists such as Lucy McRae and Bellmer influenced the poses.

Encirclement”Medium: mixed media

Obsessions, emotions and all kind of feelings can take us to compli-cate situations. Keepshakes souve-nirs, secrets, passions, habits can drive us to a psychological trap, which can be difficult to escape. All the project lead me to the feel-ing of being into a maze.

Details of the Encirclement.

“Zoom in” to my labyrinth. Three“Mindmap layers” that lead me to the encircle-ment idea.

“Flexible Bonds”from biology project An origami flexi cube ready

for kids to play and learn all about photosynthesis. An in-teresting way to play with the meanings of energy, life, vi-sion, respiration, nature feel-ings, movement and elements like sun, water, etc. Each side is a different gnome like a collage, crossword even a social network representing the social bonds or in other words your photosynthesis
