French neurologist, “the founder of modern neurology”. He de-signed vibration chair which he used to treat the symptoms of Parkinson disease. He gave lectures regarding the use of vibration in neurology which attracted huge interest.

Swedish physician, orthopedist and one of the originators of me-chanotherapy and vibrotherapy. He established the Zander The-rapeutical Institutes in 146 coun-tries. He also designed many devices for vibrotherapy and many of them received the most impor-tant awards at international exhi-bitions and were the basic equip-ment in number of sanatoriums and health resorts. Some copies of Zander’s machines are used un-til today.

A n author of over 200 scientific works, over 30 inventions in bio-mechanics, sport and medicine. He created biomechanical vibra-tory stimulator used for preparing Soviet Olympians and astronaut vibration training. The invention of the professor was kept in se-cret for 20 years. After the collapse of the Soviet Union the inventions of profes-sor Nazarov became a basis for work on vibration platforms used until today by the space agencies worldwide.

Three professors: T.Lundeberg, R. Nordemar, D.Ottoson, publish theirs studies entitled:” Allevia-tion of pain with vibration sti-mulation” in journal “Pain”. The experiment conducted on the group consisting of 366 patients with the use of vibration cushion and TENS electrostimulation, unarguably indicates that vibro-therapy caused relief in pain in approx. 70% of patients.

Publication became the basis for many other studies on the use of vibration therapy in pain allevia-tion.

Prof. Andrew P. Koutnik and his team in their work entitled: “Acu-te vibration reduces arterial stiff-ness and aortic wave reflection in individuals after stroke”, prove that passive vibration with low frequency causes vasodilation of peripheral arteries by the release of the substances extending lu-men of vessels such as nitrogen oxide.

In September 2016, Rehabilitation Massage Device Vitberg+ was introduced, the world’s first medical device which applies whole body vibration and local vibration simultaneously, using active therapeutic modules. Work on this device took 4 years. At that time, engineers from Vitberg company conducted: 867 medical experiments,753 Doppler ultrasonographies,1578 thermographies,356 anthropometric measurements, analysis of 10 000 medical questionnaires,As a result of these undertakings, the best Polish device for vibrotheraphy was made.

Since 1961, NASA has conducted the tests using vibration devices for astronaut exercises in space. Studies on the use of vibration in astronaut training, were also suc-cessfully carried out by European Space Agency ( ESA ).The studies confirmed efficacy of vibration in minimizing the effects of the influence of lack of gravi-tation on muscles and bones of astronauts.

Active and inactive modules Vitberg+

Vitberg+ is a friendly combination of universality with precise functioning in one safe device for rehabilitation and massage. The technology used in this device is the effect of many years of our engineers’ work, studies on vibrotherapy and medical experiments. But you don’t have to be an expert in it. You just need to combine modules with each other and you can start the massage. It wasn’t so easy until now.

Patients use Vitberg+ 5 hours per week on average. It is a lot of time therefore we focused on the comfort and efficacy of treatments for people who are 130 cm and 190 high equally. Modular construction of Vitberg+ allows the treatment to be performed in different positions, sitting or lying and its weight encourages to take it anywhere it will be needed. Even active modules we called in such a way in order that no one have doubts what they are used for and where it apply to.

Vitberg+ activates during the treatment surface mechanoreceptors and proprioceptive sensibi-lity mechanoreceptors which interact with the transmitted impulses on pain pathways resulting in the alleviation of pain.

We found that effect of analgesic therapy with vibration stimulation is directly linked to the properly selected frequency and amplitude of vibrations.

Parameters of vibrations and its modulations designed by our engineers have influence on muscle spindle function subjected to the thera-py thereby improving neuromuscular control of the trunk and decreasing sensitivity on pain.

Due to this finding, advanced Vitberg+ may help in reduction of lower back pain when other me-thods fail.

Effective method on back pain, without chemicals and side effects.

In the last decade the strategy of acute and chronic pain management has changed. Currently, as alternatives to analgesics and surgical treatment different methods of electrostimulation, laser therapy and magnet therapy are used. Recent studies show that the future in pain management will be-long to the vibrotherapy.

„Classic massage and vibratory massage of pain trigger points in treatment of spinal pain syndrome accompanied by depressed mood in elderly people.”- Dr. MD Małgorzata Chochowska from Department of Social Medicine, University of Medical Sciences in Poznań.

In his research, prof. Melzack found that every nerve impulse informing about the pain, has to pass through a certain spot in the spinal cord (aka back core horn), which decides whether the impulse will be sent fur-ther. If on the pain pathway there is a stronger impulse, the first one may not reach to the brain and may be wiped out. Studies on this theory contributed to the later di-scovery of endorphins- natural opioids present in the human body. According to the Gate Control Theory of pain, vibration blocks pain through sti-mulation of big, not indicating pain, nerve axons such as touch and vibration receptors (Pacinian and Meissner corpuscles).

In the studies of professor of psychiatry and neurology at the Laval University, Yves De Konincka, a model of computed tomography has shown that inhibition of receptor pain in neurons back horns, oc-curred already after a few minutes of vi-bration massage. This is due to the fact

that high-diameter sensory fibers (Ab fi-bers), mediating impulses from low-threshold mechanoreceptors activation, reduce painful excitation of low-diameter nociceptive fibers (C fibers ), through triggering of local inhibition pe-ripheries in spinal cord. Some researchers believe that relief in pain cau-sed by vibrations is not only present in the back horns but also in the brainstem and in some parts of it incl. secondary sensory cortex and cingulate cortex.

Gate Control Theory Of Pain

Over the period 2009-2011 in Poznań, a group of researchers, under the guidance of dr. MD Małgorzata Chochowska, conducted an expe-riment on 100 patients, aged over 65, treated on an outpatient basis as for the pain in lum-bosacral section. During the study, 10 classic massages of the back and 10 vibratory massa-ges of 24 trigger points were performed.

Study results allowed to formulate the thesis that classic massage combined with vibratory massage of the trigger points is a valuable and effective psy-chophysical method due to which the symptoms of spinal pain syndrome and depressed mood may be alleviated within a short period of time.

Vitberg+ Spine program has been drafted on the basis of 178 own research/thermovision, ultrasonography, anthropometric measurements/, 6000 surveys and analyses of several medical publications, including:

„Reducing pain with application of vibratory stimulation.” - prof. T. Lundberg, Karolinska Institute, Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy Department of Karolinska Hospital in Stockholm

Lymph is an intra-tissue fluid, developed as a re-sult of filtration of blood plasma from capillaries to the intercellular space. Washing all organism cells supplies them with nourishing substances and fights against bacterial invasions. Lymph in lymphatic vessels and glands is almost motion-less. Vitberg+ with Legs module is a modern method of lymphatic drainage. We assumed that lymph in lymphatic vessels and glands is almost motion-less and the drainage will hasten its recirculation thereby reducing the risk of lymphatic swelling, bacterial infections and facilitate many other bio-chemical processes. Lymphatic drainage Vitberg+ with Legs module starts with unblocking inguinal lymph nodes and later minor nodes and lymphatic vessels.

We have ensured that the direction of lymphatic drainage would not regress the lymph in vessels but push it mechanically through gastrointestinal tract. Vitberg+ drainage with Legs module is very subtle which makes it comfortable. Conducted at home, allows to relax and even take a nap. Lymphatic vessels are situated superficially, the-refore, stimulus generated by Vitberg+ is suffi-cient to enable lymph to flow from capillaries to the pre-collectors. Simultaneously, part of the lymphatic fluid may evacuate from capillaries due to the ultrafiltration and flow back to the endo-thelial cell.

100% of modern method of lymphatic drainage.

The examination of the influence of vibrations on blood circulation im-provement lasted 3 years. Our engineers, technicians and therapists con-ducted 476 medical experiments and analyzed over 3000 questionnaires resulting in modern and safe method of lymphatic drainage including all its rules.

Indications for Vitberg+ vibrotherapy with Legs module

Vitberg+ with Legs module supports the therapy with returning muscle and nerve pain appearing in the lower limbs. Improvement of blood flow in the lower limbs, reduction symptoms of varicose and spider veins, heaviness of legs, cramps and oedemas of calves. The effect of temperature increase in the feet area helps at cold feet and problems with sen-sation. IV massage intensity is also an effective recovery of legs after an intense sports training.

Vitberg+ vibrotherapy with Legs module in po-sition [A1] and program [A] is recommended for:muscle pain and neuralgias in legs area, circula-tory failure, oedemas of legs, varicose veins and intra-cutaneous spider veins, ischaemia, hemi-paresis, problems with sensation, spasticity of lower limbs, cold feet effect.

Legs position allows to massage at the sole of the foot, Achilles tendons, calves, back of the knees and thighs. Legs massage in Legs position functions multilaterally, regulating processes which affect general condition of lower limbs and some conditions of them.

Vitberg+ Legs program has been drafted on the basis of 98 own research /thermovision, ultraso-nography, anthropometric measurements/, surveys and analysis of several medical publications including:

„Whole body vibration exercise results in blood changes in muscles” - prof. K. Kerschan-Schindl from Medical University of Vienna, Austria;

„Whole body vibration training facilitates blood flow in legs and helps to fight obesity in people suffering from type II diabetes” - prof. Borja Sañudo from University of Seville, Spain;

„Vibration synchronized with diastole phase with 50 Hz frequency delivered through the chest- thick skin, increases melting blood clots, effectiveness of streptokinase in in vitro model of acute thrombosis of coronary vessels” - dr Andrew Hoffmann, Ahof Biophysical Systems Inc, Burnaby, Canada;

„Long-term effects of simultaneous electromyographic stimulation and vibrations affecting blood flow in the lower limb after spinal cord injury” - dr H. Menéndez from Miguel de Cervantes Europe-an University, Spain.

Vibration stimulation transmitted through the skin, causes the increase of microvasculature and fluids flow in soft tissues. Compression, traction and shear forces produced by the sti-mulus, namely oscillatory-cycloid vibration, exerts pressure on cells, receptors and proteins. This, favors the formation of contraction in lymphatic vessels and increase of frequency and amplitude of active lymphatic pump. The stimulation performed along deferent lymph ves-sels, facilitates removing of tissue fluids from the initial lymph vessels to the lymphatic canal.

During vibration stimulation we observed a phenomenon of blood vessels dilatation. Dilata-tion of capillaries in muscles facilitates blood flow and thereby increase of skin temperature in these regions. As a result, peripheral resistance and blood viscosity are decreased, which in turn increases average blood flow velocity and causes decrease of peripheral resistance in blood vessels.

In 2014 dr Chung-Liang Lai from Medical Univer-sity Taichung in Taiwan, in his work „Influence of the whole body vibration applied for 3 months on arterial stiffness in middle aged and elderly people” he proved that vibration training signi-ficantly reduces arterial stiffness in elderly pe-ople.

Similar conclusions were drawn by prof. Arturo Figueroa from Florida State University in the work „Intensive whole body vibration exercise reduces wave reflection and vein stiffness in legs”. He proved that the vibration decreased arterial stiffness (3%) and this phenomenon la-sted more than 40 minutes in comparison with the training without vibration.

Prof. Katrina Kerschan-Schindl

Dr. Chung-Liang Lai

Vibration massage beyond reasonable doubt in-creases blood flow in the arteries, which has been proven unambiguously in the studies of prof. K. Kerschan- Schindl from Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation from Medi-cal University of Vienna entitled „Whole body vibration exercises result in blood changes in muscles”.

Researchers after 3-minutes application of vibra-tion on 30 Hz frequency, increased blood flow in the popliteal artery of 100% and triggered ery-thema on foot and calf, proving that vibration ensures the highest increase of blood flow in comparison with inactive states.

Power of Vitberg+ vibrations with Knees module and its frequency help to reduce the re- covery time after knees injury and support reha- bilita-tion of the lower limbs. This is due to:• Designed activity protocol of Knees program, which activates the loop of the neuro- muscular reflex, producing sufficient number of muscle contraction cycles and their rest in order to at-tenuate myatrophy of the lower limbs caused by stillness after injury or chronic immobilization.• Improvement in circulation. Restoring vascular supply in the area of injury is the first recovery need and it is essential for further morpholo-gical and functional recovery of injured tissue. Vitberg+ vibrotherapy may affect an in-

tense development of new capillary vessels from every healthy muscles surrounding the area of injury.• The applied frequency of vibration Vitberg+, which promotes nourishment of tissues subjec-ted to the therapy, decreases their susceptibility to infections and improves healing.• Knees position adopted during the treatment. During treatment of primary injury area, Vitberg+ vibrotherapy affects also adjacent muscles the-reby kinetic chain.

Legs and knees vibrotherapy in rehabilitation Legs and knees vibrotherapy in sport

With the maximum effort, indicator of motor unit discharge ranges from 5 to 50 impulses per second. It means that vibrations applied with the frequency of 5Hz to 50Hz in Vitberg+ with Knees module significantly activate neuromuscular spindles thereby affecting sport training through:-simultaneous activation of several muscles becoming a measure to achieve further increment of muscle strength;

-decreasing pain threshold in stretching;-improvement of local blood circulation and thereby generation of additional heat;-stimulation of Golgi tendon organs resulting in inhibition of contraction and later muscle relaxation also supported by the designed position adopted during the knees therapy.

Mechanisms of clinical muscle pain such as the so-called stiff neck, still remain an enigma, although this kind of pain is one of the main reason of patients complaints attending clinics and hospitals.

Vitberg+ with Neck module is designed for the back rehabilitation with particular focus on sho-ulder girdle, neck and for improvement of circu-lation of these areas.Vitberg+ vibrotherapy is probably the strongest stimulation activating sensory spindles. Incre-ased flow of sensory stimuli, triggered by Vit-berg+ vibratory stimulus, significantly increases excitability of the circuits which control motor commands transmitted to the stimulated musc-le.

Vitberg+ stimulation with Neck module impro-ves range of motion, through:• decreasing of muscular tension,• decreasing bone and subcutaneous swellings caused by unnatural or permanent tension in them,• exercising of muscles and other connective tissues,• decreasing of subcutaneous and muscle oede- ma.

Vibrotherapy of the whole spine

Vitberg+ with Neck module sends complex, omnidirectional vibratory impulses and it func-tions as a wave i.e. „striking” which facilitates decontraction of smooth muscles in the walls of blood vessels. This process results in expan- ding lumen of the vessels and decrease of the blood pressure because the general volume of the cardiovascular system increases at the con- stant blood volume.

Studies which we conducted over a period of 2012-2016 using Doppler ultrasonography and biochemical analyses, irrefutably demonstrate that the vibratory stimulus applied in our device produces periodic strains of endothelial arterial surface which releases beneficial mediators such as nitric oxide (NO).Therefore, Vitberg+ vibrotherapy may be valu-able treatment for group of people with limited mobility or may be an alternative to movement for lying individuals for instance after stroke, he-art attack or injury.

We will accelerate for you regeneration processes, strengthen natural physical functions and stimulate metabolism.

Vitberg+ with Metabolism module is a modern intervention training. Applied micro-vibrations method improves body composition and muscle strength in individuals who cannot exercise tra-ditionally or in individuals with type II diabetes.When drafting the Metabolism program, we noticed a close connection between change in blood flow caused by vibrations and changes in fat mass.Thereby, reduction of adipose tissue in abdo- men may be the main factor affecting improve- ment of sensitivity to the insulin connected with training in individuals with type II diabetes.

Specially designed vibratory stimulus Vitberg+ with Metabolism module reduces time of pas-sing of stool in the colon and in this regard in-creases movement of the intestines without any side effects. Another mechanism fostering func-tion of the intestines is increase of low pressure in abdomen caused by abdominal muscle rela-xation.In response to the tonic vibration reflex, musc- les of abdominal walls are strengthened there- by facilitating excreting and improving general well-being.

Vitberg+ with Hips module applies vibratory sti-mulus in an unknown in physiotherapy manner so far.Position of the U-shaped device, encourages overlapping of the vibratory wave, thus the force of therapeutic impact is very high.In that way not only muscles, tendons, ligaments and joint capsules in hips are stimulated but also deep muscles for instance pelvic floor muscles. Vitberg+ vibrotherapy with Hips module incre-ases transmission of stimuli from neuromuscularspindles to the groups of neurons which

suppresses inhibitory effect of Golgi bulboid corpuscle.During studies on Hips program we noticed that 15 minutes of locally applied oscillatory-cycloid vibrations is as effective as 15-minutes of stret- ching exercise program for short-term increase of mobility of hip flexor.

Indications for Vitberg+ vibrotherapy with Hips module

Vitberg+ with Hips module enhances muscle function as well as hip girdle joints function and pelvic floor muscles, especially in individuals with stress incontinence.

Therapeutic benefits resulting from vibrations prove that it is safe and effective method for improvement of body condition and muscle strength in individuals who cannot exercise tra- ditionally. It may have beneficial impact on blo- od glucose control in individuals suffering from type II diabetes.

Hips program may support work of the phy- siotherapist at: enhancing hip girdle muscles, increasing range of motion, functional disor- ders of intestines.

It is recommended for: stress incontinence, problems with intestinal peristalsis, diabetic problems and other metabolic disorders, pain and limitations of pelvic mobility, pelvic girdle diseases, cellulite.

Oscillatory-cycloid vibration in a role unknown so far.

86% of our patients think that Vitberg+ is an effective method for pain in the hips.

Hips position involves vibrotherapy within muscles: gluteusmuscles, abdominal external oblique muscles, biceps femorismuscles, quadriceps muscles and tensors of fascia lata andfemoris fascia lata in iliotibial tract.

Rehabilitation Massage Device Vitberg+ is a set of active modules and inactive headboards in- tended to be used in rehabilitation, massage and facilitation of therapeutic processes in order to increase their effectiveness.Vitberg+ consists of:Vitberg+ Basic module and optional accessories:• Legs module,• Knees module,• Neck module,• Hips module,• Metabolism module,• HeadboardNeck

• Headboard+

Vitberg+ Basic module can be extended to optional, active therapeutic modules and inacti- ve headboards creating multifunctional appara- tus to the physical therapy.

Vitberg+, as a therapeutic stimulus uses noninva-sive mechanical specialized oscillatory - cycloid vibrations (WOC) in three directions with low amplitude, low and medium frequency as well as variable sequence of impulses.Vitberg+ works on the organism with mechani- cal not electrical force and does not emit electric energy and biopower to the human body ,this it may be used where the electrostimulation is contraindication.Vitberg+ is also the first medical device worldwi- de which applies whole body and local vibrothe- rapy simultaneously using active therapeutic modules.Directed Therapeutic Oscillations System (DTOS) is a solution which was developed by Re- search and Development Department of Vitberg company.
