VIVA MEXICO’S mission has always been to highlight the aspects of a country that offers attractions for everyone, aspects that sometimes foreign tend to value more than local people. Examples include the Magical Towns that light and love. So we dedicate this edition to three Magic Towns.

Magical Towns have emerged when replacing its original vocation by a less earthly mission. For example Real de Catorce went from being a mining town to a meeting between the mythical past and the present in search of dreams.

La misión de VIVA MÉXICO siempre ha sido resaltar los aspectos de un país que ofrece atractivos para todo el mundo, aspectos que en ocasiones los extranjeros suelen valorar más que los locales. Ejemplo de ello son los Pueblos Mágicos que encienden y encantan. Por ello esta edición la dedicamos a tres Pueblos Mágicos.

Los Pueblos Mágicos han surgido al sustituir su vocación original por una misión menos terrenal. Así, por ejemplo Real de Catorce pasó de ser un pueblo minero a un punto de encuentro entre el pasado místico y el presente en busca de sueños.

Tarahumara women are excellent baskets weavers and show and sell their crafts at almost every train and hotels. Their clothing is so colorful that harmonizes perfectly with the atmosphere of this heavenly place.

Creel es un pueblo pequeño y encantador con un maravilloso clima frío localizado al sureste de Chihuahua y rodeado de bosques, montañas, valles de rocas, lagos, cascadas (Basaseachi, la más grande en América), y por supuesto la famosa Barranca del Cobre.

El aire no podría ser más puro entre la tranquilidad que se percibe cuando uno está en medio de la Sierra.

Una manera de inspeccionar la maravillosa naturaleza es abordando el ferrocarril Chihuahua- Pacífico, que te regalará una perfecta manera de viajar a las barrancas y ver el escenario impresionante de manera cómoda y, cabe mencionarlo, segura.

En el camino de la orilla se ven montañas, puentes, túneles, ríos y un sinfín de pueblitos muy mexicanos. De realizarlo, seguramente será uno de los más memorables paseos en tren de tu vida.

Hogar durante siglos de los indios Tarahumaras, las barrancas ofrecen una perspectiva inmejorable para estudiar culturas ancestrales.

Las mujeres tarahumaras son excelentes tejedoras de canastos y muestran y venden sus artesanías en casi todas las paradas del tren y hoteles. Su vestimenta es tan colorida que armoniza perfectamente con la atmósfera de este celestial lugar.

Part of the Comala’s charm lies in the balance generated by the ground color of its roofs, with the simple lines of their facades and the rich vegetation around the place.

Only 8 miles separate it from the beautiful city of Colima. The peace that permeates this quiet and beautiful town is complemented by the stamp of the colossus that has as scenography: the magnificent Volcan de Fuego. Here, people are distinguished by their carved wooden handicrafts, especially mahogany and parota, for furniture and ornated objects. But they also dedicate their time in making masks for native dances, Colima style straw hats, the griddles and especially the sandals called “cactli” distributed almost throughout the country.

Climate in the region is warm as its people, walking through its streets and its main square, shaded by palms and almond trees is a delight, feel the wind and enjoy the square is a unique experience. In front of it, stands the elegant neoclassical building of the nineteenth century, the parish of San Miguel Arcangel, colonial-looking building, harmoniously located near the City Hall.

Parte del encanto de Comala radica en el equilibrio que se genera del color tierra de sus tejados, con el trazo sencillo de sus fachadas y la rica vegetación que rodea el lugar.

Sólo 8 kilómetros le separan de la bella ciudad de Colima. La paz que se respira en este apacible y bonito pueblo se complementa con la estampa del coloso que tiene de escenografía: el magnífico Volcán de Fuego. La gente de aquí se distingue por sus trabajos artesanales tallados en madera, especialmente caoba y parota, para muebles y objetos ornamentados. Pero también dedican su tiempo para la elaboración de máscaras para las danzas autóctonas, sombreros de palma estilo Colima, los comales, los chiquihuites y sobre todo los huaraches llamados “cactli”, distribuidos casi por todo el país.

El clima en la región es cálido como su gente, pasear por sus calles y por su Plaza principal, bajo la sombra de las palmeras y los almendros es un agasajo, sentir el viento y disfrutar de la plaza es una experiencia sin igual. Frente a ésta, se alza el elegante edificio neoclásico del siglo XIX, la Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel, construcción de aspecto colonial, armoniosamente ubicada muy cerca de la presidencia municipal.
